Hyukoh Mini-Update Post

GQ Korea featuring Hyukoh as one of the 'men of the year' picture shoots.
I’ve worked happily in a cheerful atmosphere.
Did you know about Code Kunst before this project? I’m curious of your thoughts meeting him, and what kind of feelings you had while working with him.
As SNS friends we kept our eyes on on each other, but it was through Tablo’s recommendation that I ended up working with him. I was grateful that he enthusiastically reflected my personal direction and backed me up when we were working together.
If there’s an appeal to working with a hiphop producer that’s different to that of a band, what would it be? Before Code Kunst you worked with Primary, I’m curious if you felt a difference between working with the two.
With a band, you need to moderate the different directions that are striving for satisfactory content within each position. It’s nice to be able to resolve those parts. Working with Primary and Code Kunst was different from the very method of approach that was used, so I can’t compare them with the same criteria. But I think Code Kunst is the style who trusts me and leaves things up to me, while Primary is the style that directs things precisely.
I know you participated in both writing and composing the song. Between writing and composing, which did you do first, and did the work progress well?
I worked on the melody first, and after that I completed the lyrics. I think the melody came in just 20 minutes or so, but it took me so long to write the lyrics that I thought I was getting cancer.
As we know, you wrote the lyrics of your part on your own. There are parts where lines like “매캐한 게 번져(maekaehan ge beonjyeo)” and "애매하게 떠진(aemaehage tteojin)” make me feel like these are lyrics where you’ve given thought to the rhymes. If there’s a meaning or story to these lyrics, please tell us in detail.
This is a memo that I wrote down while arranging the lyrics of this song.
While I was having a difficult time, I was unaware of why I had ended up like this
At the time, I considered why I was struggling
Is it because my memory is bad, or what is it.
And then I thought that I should try approaching it in a different way.
There are good times and there are bad times,
In those bad times, I buckle up for the situations that I worsen
I made it through those situations
I boasted to others of how I had overcome my difficulties,
as if it was nothing.
But honestly, hard times are still just hard.
Still, what can I do. I should just keep moving forward.
The lyrics remind me of the 2 verses in hyukoh’s ‘Hooka’. Is there any meaning or shared resemblance in the background of the two songs? Or, are the thoughts in these lyrics something you usually think about often?
It’s the mind that I always carry with me.
You’re an Arts Studies major, and I understand that you are opinionated about artwork. Is there something specific in regards to visuals that you kept in mind for the music video shoot?
There is not.
Lastly, please tell us when we can expect HIGHGRND’s band Hyukoh’s upcoming music.
We will see you soon~
