K-Pop Star 5 - Ep. 1 [Discussion Post]

It's that time of the year again, where our three favourite ahjussis are searching for the next K-Pop Star! The first episode aired last Sunday and the response has been hot with ratings of 11.5 %(last season debuted with 10.9%). I haven't found the full episode in good quality yet, so I will only post the performances with some basic info. Tell me who your favourites are!

HOT THREE PERFORMANCES

► Park Gakyeong - All of me by John Legend Passed

► Some info: She's the eldest daughter of singer Park Sangmin, who only in 2010 revealed that he had two hidden daughters. He used to tell the public that he was their uncle. Her audition has already over 900K views on naver.

► Jung Jinwoo - Satellite (original) Passed

► Some info: He was a contestant in Season 3. Here's my favorite performance of him from the 3rd season. His performance has around 700K views on naver.

► Seo Kyungduk - Because I love you by Yoo Jae Ha Passed

► Some info: Sang an often covered ballad on Kpopstar (1, 2, 3). His performance has around 250K views on naver.

Thought the little girl (Park Gakyeong) was basic tbh. My faves from this episode were Jung Jin Woo (omg what a change from season 3) and Lee Soojeong (tried to find her digital single that she said she released but can't...lol Thirst Trap...)

i was surprised by the little girl's voice...she sounds mature for her age. she has lots of potential
i feel like jung jinwoo was better in season 3?? idk he sounded kinda airy and like not stable. pretty good song production tho
the secondhand embarrassment was real when that girl said "thirst trap" lmao

Yeah, I also liked his voice in s3 better...but it might be because of the song?

I always say I'm not going to watch this show because I feel like the same type of voice profile consistently makes it to the end, but I get sucked in by one or two contestants.

Todays stand out was Jung jinwoo for me and I kind of really liked Kim Sara. I really liked Lee soojeong but it felt like she was always leading me somewhere just to never get there, felt a little let down after the song.

Yeah, last season was so boring because in the end it was mostly female ballad singers. I hope JYP widens his horizons a bit and doesn't do his "half-air, half-voice"-mantra again.

But yeah K-Popstar is always a lot of fun until they reach the TOP-10 liveshows. Before that you have a lot of collabs and stuff.

new episodes are uploaded about an hour or two after the actual airing of the show, and if you adblocker, no ads!
