idk what happened to them, they were everywhere when Bar bar came out, their imagine was diferent from the usual cute or sexy concept girl groups used, but out of no where, they vanished. people stopped mentioning them at all, it was like they were never there.... maybe it's me who doesn't follow them...
did anyone noticed the three men in suits on the back waiting for the recording to stop?
their CEO chose the wrong follow up song (uh-ee - which wasn't even supposed to be their follow up song but he decided that last minute (his taste is awful tbh)) and that song didn't necessarily flop but it didn't do well enough for anyone to remember them by the time FM (iconic legendary life changing song) came out. imo FM should have been their follow up track after bar bar bar and if it was i think they wouldn't be flopping so hard. oh and that flop CEO of theirs says he doesn't like FM (once again his taste is trash). he also only give them one korean comeback a year which is dumb af cause no one knows they exist at this point.
now they're stuck in japan for who knows how long, their CEO is trying to make quick money clearly with these $5 MV's and their debut jp song rarawhatever it's called didn't flop (although it's an awful song)

/sorry i ranted 2 u it's just i love all 5 of these girls and although they don't seem to give 2 shits about being one hit wonders, it saddens me cause they had potential but their CEO is a dumbass (altho he seems to treat them well)
i think i know why. girl groups like girls day, exid, and AOA all remained popular ( aoa and exid legit just released rehashes of the song that made them big). but all those groups fit into the typical sexy or cute criteria so having one big push is enough for them. my theory is that crayon pops concept is just too quirky for people to digest. they aren't a quirky group that still wear revealing clothes like these "innocent" or "cute" girl groups + their dances are very quirky and out of the blue and i guess that doesn't attract too many people. people in korea seem to like safe: aka girl groups doing feminine concepts not girls in tracksuits covered from head to toe wearing running shoes. once the whole shock value of bar bar bar wore off, everyone became sick of their quirky concept. at the same time though, if they had became another cute/sexy concept girl group people would be calling them sellouts. they literally can't win.
it was only until FM that they started to reveal some skin. it's no surprise that their company got them to wear the sailor moon costumes way more than the tracksuits. I was happy their sound went more mainstream tbh they need to be working with producers like shimsadong tiger, brave sound and double side kick to continue to have a career tbh but what bothers me the most is that their CEO hated FM and liked music likes uh-ee more, songs that will flop and just get people to lose interest in them for singing songs way too "weird".
idk this is just my take on things sorry for the rant lmao
I agree... they're a group that I think should flourish just for being that weird/fun/interesting but their marketing just isn't up to the taste. it's disappointing because I'd love more girl groups like them.
mte, they need a new marketing team cause clearly their cheap ass CEO is the only one making the big important decisions and he's clearly not good at it. the amount of times i've heard the girls say "we were going to do this but last minute our CEO said this" is ridiculous. #justiceforcrayonpop
Dang, I though the stuff on their instagrams was going to be for a Korean comeback, not another Japanese one. Their last few Korean songs haven't done that well, though; charting, but not high. I had such hopes for FM.
I like the Super Mario theme. It's no Saturday Night, though.
i actually like this song, i hated their other song mainly cause the verses were so weird to me? The budget of this MV is clearly around $5 tho, i bet their CEO filmed this w/ his video camera.
