FTISLAND's Lee Hongki to release 1st solo Korean album mid-November

K-pop band F.T. Island’s main vocalist Lee Hong-ki will drop his first solo album in mid-November.

Although this is the 25-year-old’s first official solo EP in his 9-year musical career, he has already proved his singing prowess by participating in the background tracks for television dramas such as “You’re Beautiful (2009),” “The Heirs (2013),” “Bride of the Century (2014)” and “Modern Farmer (2014).”

In April, Lee surprised the judging panel of TV program “King of Mask Singer,” where a masked singer has to be identified by his or her singing and technique.

Lee’s group F.T. Island debuted as a quintet in 2007 and immediately rose to fame with hit-song “Lovesick.” They recently finalized their eight-city-thirteen-concerts Japanese tour with their latest album “Puppy.”

can't believe it took fnc this long. i'm really looking forward to this album. him and onew are two i never got why didn't go solo first out of their company/group.

with onew, it seems like he's wanting to take his pace with it / seems more interested in acting atm. shinee are doing fan events in japan right now and the mc asked him and taemin about whether or not they want to do solo shows like jonghyun did basically and he said he'd do it "gradually, one step at a time". (http://twishort.com/uutjc) so, i figure it's probably more him wanting to wait for the right time than sm "holding him back" like people try to say it is, that a combo of the timing never working. (ie: his vocal polyps last year.) (which i've never understood because he's the most popular member in korea / people are always mentioning him wanting a solo in articles and have for years so it'd make no sense for sm to hold back on it if people want it so badly.)

Hongki never really seemed interested in a solo up until now tbh, heck even in a recent interview (http://djpri.tumblr.com/post/130794656037/ftinterview-lee-hongki-my-life-isnt-a-show) he sounds hesitant about this one (Q. Do you want to go solo?/ Lee Hongki: Not really (- lmao))
The past few years he's been busy fighting for rights for him and other FTI members to make their own songs and he's been really dedicated with writing their stuff lately, he's been too focused on FTI getting their name out there in Korea as a band that writes their own music (which only happened this year :(( debuting in 2007 and only releasing their 1st self-composed Korean album this year wtf fnc)
I've also read fanaccounts that he looked a bit lonely w/o the other members at his solo fanmeets last year (promoting his drama or w/e) so he really seems more at home promoting with them ahah

yeah fnc is really trash when it comes to ft islands it's like they gave up to focus on aoa and cn blue. i get what you mean and i always see him calling out his ceo.
i hope his album is really popular unlike ft islands comeback :(

fnc is trash to everyone at least once a while really, if you ask around the fnc fandoms they'll all have a thing or two to complain about

fti they are indeed especially bad with, things are okay now creative-control-wise, promo-wise they still flip-flop between doing alright and doing terrible. Better than before but still ways to go
fti/fnc is basically a love-hate relationship, lots of complaining but they still show gratitude/loyalty to fnc and like the ceo, which I can understand (that ceo is still a dick and has gotta go though)

tbh while I'm sure many people will praise his music/song-writing, I'm wary of how the solo will do sales-wise :( fandom is dedicated but kinda weak in numbers so it'll have to depend on non-fti fans too. Fingers crossed his title track will be to Korea's liking (it'll be a ballad so there's hope!!!! lol). The album he's releasing in Japan (same songs + extra ones) will likely do better at least.

I watched his V app thing last month and when he said he was releasing a solo album I legit squealed like a 13 year old fangirl. I love his voice so much. I cannot wait.

Hongki voice its one of my favorite .... and as much i like ftisland as group, their style its not exactly my cup of tea
maybe he will try new style and genders with this solo .... totally excited!!
i always like his ost .... the acoustic song he did for modern farmers was really nice :)

He said recently he's tried experimenting with other genres (he's mentioned electronic music, plus that weirdo un-FTI-esque Puppy song they did in Japan was originally going to be his solo) so hopefully they make it to this album and will have something that will pique your interest \o/
(I really hope he does but he said lately "I’m pretty sure my solo album in Korea will be 100% sad" so I'm not sure o: )

i think he doesn't need to go just for ballads to make a sad comeback , he could try something like blues/jazz or mid tempo ballads .... actually edm could be interesting too
