Big Bang has renewed its contract with YG Entertainment.

YG announced on November 2, "Big Bang′s five members G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, Daesung and Seungri have extended their exclusive contracts."

By renewing their contracts with YG, about two months before their contracts are set to expire at the end of the year, the Big Bang members, who have grown together over the last 10 years, are setting a precedent of trust and loyalty that is rare in the entertainment industry. This is the second time Big Bang has renewed its contract following the first time in 2011.

Not only was Big Bang′s series of singles M, A, D, E, released over four months from May to August, a resounding success, the group gathered 1.4 million fans in North America and Asia to its sold out world tour.

Big Bang will be taking off on the Big Bang World Tour 2015-2016 ′Made in Japan′ from November 12 to November 15, beginning at the Tokyo Dome. The group will be meeting fans in Korea at the upcoming 2015 MelOn Music Awards at the Olympic Park Gymnastics Arena on November 7.

Agree. Also seemed kind of useless since military is going to happen in the next few years, but I guess if YG treats them well, what more can they ask for?

Okay, but how long are the contracts for? It's not just for like the length of the tour right?

If they resigning for the second time that means they had two 5 years long contracts before, right?
So maybe the same again? I have no idea how usually YG handle that stuff or if there's any usually with YG at all lol

It would've been interesting to see what happened if they'd left YG, but I think we all knew this was what they were going to do LOL.

If (when?) they leave I don't see if happening until they do their military time. We'll see.

They might get their own label after military service though, like Highgrnd and Teddy&Kush's new label. That's what YG is kind of aiming for in the future. I have never thought that they'd actually leave YG, but their own sublabel sounds a lot more doable as a transition when they get older.

idk why y'all think BB is going to break away from YG or wanting to. It's probably the only company that can handle them. No other company would know what to do with them, they know BB is lucrative, but only if you know how to market them. If they market them the wrong way, they will start to lose popularity and fans. This is something BB themselves probably don't want to risk. I don't think GD wants to start his own label and starts managing BB either. Or anyone of them want to. Managing yourself is really a lot of work, Yoo Jae Suk end up signing with FNC probably due to this reason. He managed himself for a few years and it probably didn't work out as much and tiring him out.

This so much. They are his main money makers and guys so there were certain privileges in negotiating new contracts.

This. He's more of the in-pursue-of-the-arts-only type. If anyone is going into management, it might be Seungri, but he's partying and enjoying his fame as he should be.

Not surprised. They're still under contract as actors and they've got stocks too. Would really like to know when the full fucking album will be out, YG. #Panda4CEO

I don't see why they would sign with someone else or get their own company (although CEO seungri is ma type of jam ) I mean, what other company has the financial power to back such a high budget group? Besides, they give them free reign on the music they release (although they need approval of the company) and don't force them to appear on music shows or variety shows. They basically do what they want, to the point it looks like the company don't give a fuck. Lol auto-managing yourself seems a hassle too, unless they leave and take their staff with them.

This time last year I was sure they wouldn't be resigning but it's been a good year for them. I know YG comebacks take forever to come through but I'm hoping they might manage one more album together before the military starts taking them

well there go all hopes of Panda Entertainment. i booed out loud when i found out. i am sure no one actually believed they would not re-sign but no one said we can't dream... it was fun thinking of yg running around like a headless chicken. i hope they negotiated themselves a great deal and they're releasing that album soon.

Not surprising tbh. They still make 80-90% of YG's income and they've just reached a new peak this year. I don't see YG or them wanting to throw that massive success away so easily.

There are 3 explanations for how/why this went down:
1) loyalty to a fault
2) a contract better than Beyonce's + Madonna's combined
3) YGE has so much dirty on them that they make the Sahara desert look like a sandbox lol

I think 1 and 3 hit the close to truth. Although I'm sure they got a really good contract too. I mean in their old contract BB got already 60% of profit, so probably in this new contract they get at least 70% like PSY or more. Or they might have even moved into revenue based contract instead of profit based, though YG doesn't seem to be doing Hollywood accounting like SM, so there is less insentive for that.

trust and loyalty---pls. where else would bigbang go at this point, and for what? it would be nice if they could form their own label and do their own damn thing. i feel like we'd get more music and possibly even BETTER music but who knows what's going on behind the scenes?

so i'm not surprised they renewed their contracts i just hope it was for better pay and better management.
