Although Jiyoon has been CHARMING viewers with her honest personality on Unpretty Rapstar 2, she has make an impression on the show with her rap skills. While picking partners for the team challenge on episode 8, Jiyoon cutely said to her castmates, "If you come here [and pick me as your partner], I'll treat you to conveyor belt sushi." Despite this GENEROUS and ATTRACTIVE offer, none of Jiyoon's castmates wanted to partner with her. So, Jiyoon BRAVELY decided to stand up during Yubin's turn, actively choosing her as a partner.

Jiyoon was then seen as Yubin's dead weight, with fellow competitors Hyorin and Yezi choosing them as the team most likely to be eliminated. However, with Yubin's idea to turn Jiyoon's "naega naega hae" meme into a catchy hook, the team became the unlikely winner of the challenge. Her IMPRESSIVE performance garnered praise from her judges and castmates.

Here are some SNIPPETS of reactions in the clips and online! (I won't bother with the articles that are already posted on NB)

Naver TVcast: 'The one going to the final is me!' Teamwork battle <Yubin & Jeon Jiyoon>

  1. Tasha, "It was really exciting. I saw her in a new light."

  2. Sua, "I really liked it."

  3. Rhymer, "I became a huge fan of Jiyoon."

  4. Mad Clown, "I think Jiyoon is really charming. But even with rap she performed really well today."

[+2171, -29] Yubin is like a doctor ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Saved everyone she works with ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I like Jiyoon too since her personality really cool

[+1832, -37] A thought I had: Jiyoon has to treat Yubin to conveyor belt sushi for sure

[+1480, -22] Seed-Jiyoon was really cool, Seed-Jiyoon was really great today, I’m in love with Seed-Jiyoon (t/n: Seed-Jiyoon is a nickname netizens gave Jiyoon after one of her rap lines in the earlier episodes)

[+1340, -17] I anticipated Yubin & Jeon Jiyoon ever since the preview and their chemistry is no joke ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Yubin’s idea for using  “naega naega hae” as the hook was really good and since this is an idea that wouldn’t exist without Jiyoon, her presence was really daebak. They seemed so warm with each other at the end ㅎㅎ What a crazy drama

[+1230, -19] The way Yubin didn’t fight for credit when the judges asked who came up with the concept was really cool, and Jeon Jiyoon was so sincerely happy with all the praise that she got ㅠㅠ  Jeon Jiyoon choosing Yubin was god’s work. This team was really cool.

Naver TVcast: [Full version] Teamwork Battle <Yubin & Jeon Jiyoon>

[+1583, -44] Yubin did really well. Jiyoon finally did it today. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋThese two seriously have A+ personalities and A+ visuals ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋThey did so well this time, this combination was so good ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋI had a really happy feeling watching them ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋI can’t say their skills are really amazing but they really did well today ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I hope they keep doing well from now on

[+1362, -35] Yoobin’s idea was the work of god ㅠㅠ And Jiyoon on the receiving end of it was great too! I wish they released this digitally ㅋㅋㅋ

[+1207, -34] Wow, Yubin wrote her lyrics really well. ㄷㄷㄷ

[+1159, -13] Using Jiyoon’s legendary cypher as the concept was really good. The more I see Jiyoon, the more I like her ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ So charming

[+963, -16] It was worthy of the number 1 rank. Yubin has really good lyrical sense and Jiyoon’s skills seem to be improving a lot!

Naver: Unpretty Rapstar 2 Jeon Jiyoon, Overcoming her singing-rap trauma and getting first place

[+223, -5] I seriously wanna be friends with Jeon Jiyoon, I completely love her personality.
          - Rather than friends, I want to be lovers with her…

[+179, -2] She did well, she really did well

[+158, -4] This group really complemented each other well ㅎㅎㅎ They did well

[+134, -2] They were daebak cool!! I became their fan!!

[+131, -3] I’m seriously tearing up! Jiyoon-ah, you’ve been working really hard! You did well! Bravo~~!!!

I really don't know much about rap, but it sounded cool. And it's nice to see so much positive feedback from netizens. Usually they're so ready to shit on anybody, so it's a good surprise.

i am SO PROUD of jiyoon! she's improved so much! this is like the first time i'm hearing her rap on beat and she actually sounds GOOD. i need a translation tho...

it was smart as hell to clapback with that hook tho. jiyoon got a lot of shit for it and yubin suggesting this gave her a chance to really shine. considering the charisma and how well they clearly worked together, i def wouldn't given the no. 1 spot to anyone else. there was no dead weight---they fit perfectly.

It was a perfect performance for real and watching the full version, it was really well done and thought out and sounded great. I would take a recorded version of this song any day. The beat was a good choice too. I love that Drake song, haha.

Naega Naega Hae has been reclaimed; it's awesome. They really worked well together and Jiyoon was amazing. I know people think she's bad but I really felt like the show brought her in to be an awkward turtle and edited her to be worse than what she was which imo was just rough around the edges. They both are, but they shined together. And I'm glad Jiyoon got that added shine and a revival edit. People seem to love her as well. Very fun performance. I also want a translation.

This is also an example of why I would like more interlabel collabos from k-pop. It could be such a good thing.

I see yubin/jiyoon using "naega" to imply the n-word, following the steps of human trash can gdragon hmmmm. unpretty rapstar has really brought out the asshole in yubin she needs to stfu

these flops are slyly trying to imply the n-word and fat-shaming other contestants and this is your reply? srsly? bye

Date: 2015-11-02 11:45 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] miyozari.livejournal.com
Yes, this is my reply. Yubin's fat-shaming warrants criticism, but implying the n-word is an assumption. By this logic a million of Korean songs, which use neaga in their chorus are trying to imply the n-word.

Unless we're talking about YG and its artists, because they thrive on cultural appropriation and misusing black hip-hop. So, bye.

Date: 2015-11-02 02:20 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hurtmybones.livejournal.com
it's obvious I'm not going after everyone single person "naega" (or other phonetically similar words) in their lyrics? these ~rappers~ have been not so subtly using it as a stand-in for the n-word. see this performance at around 2:15, see lil cham's "naega naega naega wow" on ur1, see gdragon's rap in bae bae. are we gonna act like they don't know exactly what they're doing?

it warrants criticism but your reply is to deflect the issue by mentioning the flops from yg? yeah don't go in on her so hard, rme

Date: 2015-11-02 03:03 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] miyozari.livejournal.com
I can see where you're coming from, but in this case we'll have to agree to disagree.

I simply mentioned YG and its artists, because they are an example which definitely warrants criticism without question.

they're literally repeating "say naega" and making others say it? how is that not sticking a phonetically similar word to allude to the n-word?

Date: 2015-11-02 05:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] ah-mui.livejournal.com
MTE. I don't get how innocently trying to claim back naega naega hae is trying to imply the n-word. What a reach.

Date: 2015-11-02 05:33 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hurtmybones.livejournal.com
naega naega hae =/= say naega (which is exactly the part I mean, as I've mentioned already) but you guys just don't want to see it ig

From: [identity profile] hurtmybones.livejournal.com
lol they're literally in a show that's celebrating the appropriation of black culture in the most ridic manner tho? and I don't get why they'd have to have a history of doing shitty things for what I'm saying to stand. they're ~rappers~ and they definitely know the word. I'm sorry but I'm gonna continue being suspicious of this latest trend of rappers using phonetically similar to the n-word words in their lyrics

Hmm my Wonderful friend said the same thing.

Like this is a legit thing... if it wasn't a leap w/ GD or Lil Cham, why do others get off?

Date: 2015-11-02 05:55 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hurtmybones.livejournal.com
"it's bordering on "you can't say phonetically similar words" territory"

yeah idk if you're purposely missing the point or what bc no one has ever expressed anything against people using words from their language bc it sounds like another word. it's specifically targeted towards the rappers and how they use it in a way that evokes that word

Date: 2015-11-02 05:58 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] hurtmybones.livejournal.com
yeah I'm wondering the same thing... all the people involved are "rappers", they all know the word so I don't see how it's that far-fetched in one case but not in others.

Date: 2015-11-04 09:01 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lettace.livejournal.com
i get what you're saying, but in this case? in all honesty this is just them taking the piss (with jiyoon's first cypher)
this is them literally playing into overused hip hop cliches ("say ho" for example)
if they tried to be slick by saying "naega please" then you could get at them lol

So easy and fun to listen to, I watched it twice. Can't wait to watch the prep they put into this! I felt Jiyoon did better hear delivery-wise, Yubin seemed out of breath at times

OP, I thought Tasha was really a guest and was ready to watch her rip Truedy ):
