Synopsis

Is there more to school than just grades? Kang Yeon Doo (Jung Eun Ji) is a peppy cheerleader who is popular at school because of her sunny personality. But when she transfers to an elite high school where grades and school rankings are stressed, she feels like an outcast because of her less-than-stellar grades. She also clashes with Kim Yeol (Lee Won Geun), a student who seems to have it all with great looks and great grades. Fellow cheerleader Seo Ha Joon (Ji Soo) also feels the pressures to do well academically but also harbors a family secret that detracts from his focus. Kwon Soo Ah (Chae Soo Bin) is pushed into cheerleading by her mother to boost her resume, but she realizes that she has a talent for it. All the students have to try to measure up to the school brainiac, Ha Dong Jae (Cha Hak Yeon). Can Yeon Doo survive in such a high-pressure environment? “Sassy Go Go” is a 2015 South Korean drama series directed by Lee Eun Jin.

Every time Soo Ah pops up on screen I whisper 'burn bitch' and when her schemes blow up in het face I whisper 'yesss burn bitch'. I love justice.
Can they please not have Ha Joon fall in love with Yeon Doo? Also, I'm glad they had that scene where Yeon Doo was like 'I've been distant lately right?' towards Dong Jae. Because seriously, for supposed joined at the hip bffs he was suddenly nowhere to be found.
I love the parents together and I'll be sad if they decide not to get married in the end because their teenage children love each other. That would be ridic imo.

n what the hell what she trying to do by abandoning yeondoo? did she think she would never come back somehow?

lmao seriously did she think yeondoo would get eaten by wolves trying to find her way back or something? she just left her somewhere on the same mountain not in a different county. for someone trying to get into harvard she's not that smart.

That last hug, damn. This could've been easily a tearful hug in a melodrama. Ji Soo's teary eyes are always perfection. I want to ship these two as friends, but it's getting difficult. I hope the drama isn't aiming for a love triangle.

I love that Yeon Doo talked to Dong Jae and apologised for not paying attention to him.

So far Ha Joon and Yeol had the greatest character development.

I lost any hope I had for Soo Ah. I hoped the writer would give her more dimension. I almost feel sorry for Chae Soo Bin that she's stuck with this kind of character.

Eunji's acting really shone at the end of episode 8 omg. Her emotional acting has always been good but not great in that I feel sad for her but I don't resonate with the character's feelings. But when she welled up upon seeing Ha Joon I SWEAR I had tears in my eyes too - it just felt really honest and believable ;_; I feel like such a proud mum rn

and I hate that a love triangle is forming but this is the first time where I genuinely like the female lead with both the male leads. They have such crazy chemistry with each other. Sigh can they please extend this drama by 2 episodes.

oh and I hope it's Dong Jae leaving the notes because I'm wondering where the guy went that threw milk on Soo Ah's head because he didn't like how she treated his bff. Seriously, what is he doing with ther lately? I love that it's driving her crazy, but I'm afraid he's trying to be caring. Let her burn Dong Jae.

Yes. Dongjae was mad enough to poor milk on this girl because she was horrible to Yeondoo. Now, after she's had him attacked and kicked out of basketball with the purpose of pressuring his friend, he's trying to help her like?! I can respect not wanting to stoop to her level but looking out for her is weird.

I think because of his difficulties with emotions he just doesn't react to her like others. His emotional development is supposed to that of a child, so he just doesn't get mad. He didn't get mad when he spilled the milk either. He just... did it to punish her.

Having said that, she is like he only person who acknowledges him.

Seriously though, the Soo Ah - Dongjae ark is all messed up because it is not developing the way it was supposed to be. Hence you have glimpses of the old storyline and supposed character developments mixed with this new, and it's a mess.

As a story, this is so solid to me. A little sad that we have reached this far and it's now clear the writers have no intentions of really getting into real king. Like, the real king members are always together WITHOUT Yeondoo sans Hyoshik who just pops in and out of the story. Dudes like Dongjae without a plotline. Yeondoo was missing and you mean to tell me none of her friends noticed? That's just bad writing.

SO, what are they even planning on doing with Sua? Honestly, I can't see her getting into Harvard and she isn't making a comeback from what she's done. Her mom's horrible but I can't excuse what Sua has done. Her mom isn't out here leaving people for dead. She better get some type of retribution but knowing k-dramas it'll be that she only gets into SKY and apologizes.

Finally, I'm team whatever becomes canon unless it involves Sua. Though, with what they are setting up, it seems like Yeol is the less realistic choice. Yeol is really smug(tbh it's only charming cause he's cute), seems to lack a bit foresight, doesn't step up where Hajoon does, and could possibly be Yeondoo's future step brother. Still the character growth of him and Hajoon is great. They haven't actually done much with Yeondoo now that I think about it. She's great but she never does anything you wouldn't expect from her. I'm gonna need her to slap Sua just once.

I don't think the writers know what to with her. They clearly re-wrote a chunk of the drama chasing the ratings, because the arcs and story lines are not the ones the actors discussed before. It was supposed to be an ensemble cast and they turned into the usual foursome.

Now I'm nervous. They could really screw up the ending if they are just playing it by ear.

For example, according to the actress who plays Sooh Ah, Soo Ah was supposed to develop connections and friendships with the people in the cheerleading team (and develop a love line with Dongjae) and redeem herself. She was not supposed to be... whatever she is now. The tone and the direction of the story changed after episode 4.

My list of grievances with this drama creators' grows longer with every episode, so I am dropping it and watching only Dongjae's cuts. It would have really benefitted from dropping adult story lines, less screentime for the love triangle trio, and more exploration of the issues and strories of these kids. Instead the producers are chasing the ratings and twisting the plot to satisfy Jisoo fans.

Say what you want about Soo Ah, but at least she acknowledges Dongjae existence and talks to him, rather than treats him as furniture. I haven't forgotten how Yeol treated Dongjae in the first few episodes either. Or that Hajoon tried to hit Yeondo.

I like Yeondo's character less and less.

Considering how it impacted Hakyeon's radio... burn, writers, burn!

i watched ep8 raw but even android me couldn't help that little drop of tear by the end. ppl justify their thrist for yeondoo-hajoon loveline by that scene but i just see it as an honest moment of cry for help by yeondoo. she's always been the rock, fighting against the system in the good way, upholding her moral compass, and she gets thrown at the middle of nowhere over something she has no fault in. that last scene with red eyes and red nose and limping legs, she goes for a rock solid support. and hajoon has always been the best rock, after yeol. yeol provokes her thinking process and makes her grow, but hajoon just silently accepts and let the moment shine. i noticed that dongjae was just there most of the times to nourish her personality, but yeol and hajoon nurtures and makes her grow. even with real king, she was just a leader. someone who gives and gives, and happily gets back.

as someone who's recently fucked up, i really hope soo ah gets to redeem herself somehow. her evil actions are sickening, yes, but i don't know whether it's her acting, or her situation that resonates with me so damn hard that when she's trying hard to fulfill her mother's expectations, i hurt too for her, with her. i don't agree with how she deals with it, but i hope she gets a chance to feel that friendship's warmth, the trust she lacks. she's always been a loner, and whatever she's done hasn't endeared her to anyone. trust me when i say zero social support fucks you up inside, because that was exactly how i felt in my situation, and it drove me to crazy and radical methods.

i'm tracking the drama's page in soompi (fuck, self) so apparently next week's tuesday episode is supposed to be preempted for some game, but oh my venus is supposed to air on 16th nov anyway, so i'm afraid kbs ends up slashing this drama to 11 eps only. pls dont. they won't be able to nicely tie up major arcs in 3 more eps only, if so.

and some ppl are bitching abt how ~extra~ the parents' arc is but imho, it's a nice and crucial support for viewers to understand where the kids are coming from. everything in life is action equals reaction, you don't get something nice or crazy just like that, a split second thing. it has to grow organic.

FUCK WHAT DID I TALK ABT

That's actually my problem with Sua. She had a support system. She didn't start this thing off as a loner. Yeondoo was her friend in the beginning. She's become a loner through her actions. With everything we have learned about Yeondoo, she's the best type of friend you could have. I think it's safe to say that if Sua had just been real with Yeondoo, they could have easily have come up with a real solution to fix the Real king/Beakho fued. Like, idk, one of their rich parents could have had one of the rooms sound proofed. I dislike Sua because there was another way but she decided to go the bad route.

As for her redemption, I feel like yeah. She could grow to be a better person as she grows older but within the span of her Junior year? There's not much she could do to make people forgive some of what she's done. Like, Yeon doo is nice but I can't see her trusting Sua anymore. I think it would be impossible to be friends with her after the fact that Sua endangered her friend and left her out for dead. Not to mention, as far as the drama is concerned, Sua has no good qualities other than being smart.

Yas I was looking for a discussion post but now I forget why. Prob to say how much I hate sooah and hope she does not get any redemption storylines. Fuck her and her tiny purse. Couldn't her mom shell out for a bigger one? Lol

And damn that boy and his smile. I'd be in love with him too if I were at that school.

I love the core stories, but I get irritated with a few things like how the parent couple is serious enough to talk marriage, but not serious enough to LET THEIR KIDS KNOW.

I am so in love with the Real Kings, The teacher, white nights (except Soo Ah) Its been a while since I've watched a kdrama where I'm pretty much invested in people and want the best for them (except Soo Ah). I want Yeon Doo to follow her instinct more when she comes in close contact with Soo Ah, because if she knows something any right, then something ain't right.

Soo Ah could go get hit by a tuck for all I care...Actually I think that would be prefect. If I had my way, I would want for this show to end kind of how Mean Girl's ended....Soo Ah just getting ran over. She doesn't have to die...but can end up like how Rachel did at the end.

Soo Ah is just a little baby bitch...OOH I can't stand her. Like, how do you feel GOOD that you have to scheme to get the #1 ranking. My pride would NEVER. I wanna beat that ass fair and square...lol. I'm worried about Ha Joon. Ji Soo doesn't deserve this second male lead pain. But it seems like Yeon Doo is feeling him, too, a bit? And if their parents are dating and about to get married...then maybe Ha Joon does have an opening? (Shut up let me console myself)

I appreciate there being a scene where Yeon Doo has a moment with Dong Jae. Yeol and Ha Joon pouting about that strawberry milk, my heart can't take it. They're all too cute and gross.

PETTY YEOL RISE. Remember those receipts! He makes the principal SEETHE and I get intense happiness from this. He's the cutest little smug prince ever, lol.

Teacher Yang is too good for this world. Soo Ah is a little piece of shit to him and he still says, my door is open if you need to talk. I'm here for you. Ugh. That school doesn't deserve him. However, I do. Lol.
