According to insiders on October 21, Former Girls’ Generation member Jessica Jung is looking forward to launching a new cosmetics brand and is currently working out the details of the products.

Despite her busy schedules, it was reported that Jessica personally visited the suppliers and checked out the products, showing her passion for the new business.

Recently, she has been visiting the suppliers with her business partner for the venture, Tyler Kwon, with whom she has had numerous dating rumors.

Meanwhile, Jessica left Girls’ Generation to pursue her fashion brand Blanc & Eclare last year, and has since showed an interest in continuing a career in singing as well as trying new things such as acting.

I wonder if she'll keep selling it the same price as high end brands or not.

I hope her products are going to be free of acne triggering components or irritant components.

Mostly, if she sells bb cream, she better have more shades than just the usual 21 and 23. Think about the more tanned asian girls!

Btw, does any korean brand aside from Missha have more than two shades?

most amore pacific brands (etude, iope, hera etc) and brands like clio or vdl tend to have more than just two shades but it's still pretty limited imho.
there are also the mysterious shades like 13 and 17 but these are like very pale pinky ones. i'm just happy that i match 21 most of the time, even though some brands make it too pink or yellow for my neutral skin but that's a minor complaint.

I wear Missha's perfect cover in shade 27, but even if the range goes up to shade 31, most of the websites that sell korean brands only have Missha in shade 21 and 23. That's so annoying.

etude house usually has 3 shades for their bb creams with the darkest being w24, but their recent foundation (stay up foundation i think) has 4 shades

the laneige cushions at target has a much better range but no bb creams/foundation

skin79 has a couple of variations, but it's more of matching your undertone

that's all i can think of, the rest of the popular brands probably only has two shades :/

i dunno, the korean cosmetics market (and around the world in general) is so saturated that it is really really hard to stand out unless you either have amazing quality and cheap price range (eg colourpop), or you are doing something that is really innovative. or in her case, her brand as snsd jessica.

korean skincare is great, but makeup....eh nothing too special, but in general pretty cheap. interested to see if she extends the foundation shade range, or if its gonna be five shades of light yellow toned foundations. the makeup artist in me is interested to see how this works out

i really like their eyeshadows, its a really interesting texture and super pigmented. the blushes are pretty nice too, but a bit harder to apply. their lipsticks are nice, and they are coming out with gel liners. i just like how the price range is really good for the quality of the items

She can live off from her fans for a while, but I've followed closely her business venture in fashion and from my personal and professional pov I don't see it growing towards longevity, its quite unclear where she's trying to head off.

i don't follow her clothing brand because it really does nothing for me. im interested in the makeup because i love makeup and im a qualified makeup artist, but to me it just seems like she wants to make money off those that cannot afford her clothing. thats the only reason i can find, because otherwise it doesn't make sense to go into the cosmetics market when you aren't a trained makeup artist (eg bobbi brown, charlotte tilbery, rae morris, ellis faas etc).

she seems to be going down the youtube guru create makeup range type of route. work with a supplier, slap your name on it and advertise with your face.

yeah the fact that she is visiting suppliers instead of working with a lab its really off-putting, private labeling her brand sounds really cheap, especially for someone with that level of fame.

She should work with Amore, LG or P&G who can develop a brand for her within their umbrella.

I've used so far their Illusion D'Ombre cream eyeshadows, which I really like. Their holiday blushes are beautiful, but I haven't bought any yet, because I'd be too afraid to destroy them. I also know that some people really like their Lumiere foundation and the La Lift crem is apparently magic in a jar, but the price tag is too hefty for me. I don't recommend their lipsticks.

Cosmetics are a tricky thing, you really need a good direction and unique concept to stand a chance because its so saturated.

Just look at YG's cosmetic line. It is expensive af and to say that the quality in most of their products is bad it is an understatement, it is worst than bad. It has barely made a splash and its been like a year since its release.


No doubt she can live off her fans to begin with, but longevity is going to take a lot of work and creativity.

Pairing up with a big house like AMORE PACIFIC, LG HH&C or HANKOOK P&G would be the smart thing to do.
