[ENG TRANS] COSMOPOLITAN W/ SEVENTEEN’S HIP HOP UNIT
Q: Following your first mini album (17 Carat), after only one month you’ve made a comeback with your 2nd mini album (Boys Be). I think this might be the record for the shortest comeback (compared to) other idols.
S.coups: We didn’t feel that that period was short. Even one month felt long, to the point that we wanted to come back (even one day) earlier (if it was possible).
Q: What do you think makes Seventeen distinct from other idol groups?
Mingyu: We’re a group with a lot of energy! When you look at us, you’ll feel excited/happy, you’ll laugh, and feel like you’ve been recharged (i.e. gained energy from us).
Q: Seventeen’s 13 members are each divided into vocal, hip hop and performance units. Out of those 3, Cosmo chose the hip hop unit (to come in), what do you think the reason for that is?
Wonwoo: Wouldn’t it be because as men, we’re the most charming?
Mingyu: Cosmo is a “sexy and hot” magazine, isn’t it. With that meaning, I think our hip hop unit matches well with it.
S.coups: I always say this. The hip hop unit is in charge of the visuals in Seventeen, haha.
Q: No wonder you’re able to grasp the sexy poses well when taking pictures.
Mingyu: That’s right. Truthfully, I am in charge of sexiness in our group, hahaha.
Q: If the 13 of us have an activity together, it’s hard for me to show my individuality. What are each of your charms that you want to show?
Vernon: I would like to show more of my individual rap. It feels regretful that I haven’t been able to show it properly yet.
Wonwoo: This is a common goal within our hip hop unit.
S.coups: There is a lot of desire for individual rap. (Because) the four of us all have different rap styles, we want to show you each of our (individual) charms.
Mingyu: (Because during) our first and second mini albums Seventeen’s concept was an image of bright young boys, in the future I would like to show a more sexy and manly charm.
Q: Your 2nd mini album’s title song “Mansae” is about (a boy) who’s ideal girl notices him and makes him cheer “mansae”. What type of girl would make Seventeen cheer mansae in real life?
S.coups: A woman who is a professional in her field of work! These days, my ideal type is Nicki Minaj. She looks really cool when she’s on stage, passionately rapping.
Wonwoo: I have a fantasy. A woman reading a book (near a) window that has sunlight coming out of it. Just like a scene out of a music video, if I see a woman like that I think I’ll fall for her.
Q: After meeting your ideal type, is there a certain type of date you want to go on?
Mingyu: I want to go (with her) on vacation to a place with a good view. It’s been my dream ever since I was little to go on a vacation with my lover.
Vernon: It’s my dream to travel around the world with my lover as well. In the past, the actor Tom Hanks said these words: “If you have a person who you really love, go travel the world with them. If you still love them after the vacation/trip is over, then that’s real love.” I also want to experience something like that once.
Q: Items that you want to have?
JH: Long padding, I get cold easily and I can feel that the weather is getting colder, winter is scary
WZ: Long padding for me too. Not long ago, I caught severe cold
T8: I want to send healthy foods for my parents in China
JS: Airplane. Although it's impossible, my mom can freely visit me in Korea with it
SC: Recently I work out by riding a bicycle, and it's fun. So I want to have a cool bicycle.
V: Other than training pants, my pants have gotten smaller. I grow taller. I need new pants.
HS: Black pants. Not long ago, me and Dino was running on a downhill road, I tripped and the pants was ripped.
Q: Variety program that I want to do together with the members is ____, and the program that I want to do alone is ____

Jun: It's nice because we won't get bored but it's such a pity that the food gone so fast. Haha.
MG: The pro is the same with Jun hyung, the cons.. sometimes we left someone when we're going somewhere
SK: It's nice because people can recognize us when we gathered together, but when 13 of us are talking at the same time.. my ears hurt

The8: We had our comeback today. This is the first day of our schedule, but we’re going ‘til the night. We’re busy, but it’s very good. When we did the broadcast today, there were many people, so I’m really thankful. *laughs* We had a showcase today as well. I felt really happy on the stage. Everyone worked hard today~

Dino: When I think of comeback (comeback, you say?!), it’s really fascinating. I’m having a comeback after being a singer. *cries* We’ve safely ended our first week. The schedule was hard, but since I got strength with the hyungs, I think we ended it well. It is the start, so we ate meat to cheer up. *laughs* Moreover, the response is good, so I feel good. But since I’ll work harder, I’ll improve. Moving forward, I’ll write history. Aja, aja, hwaiting!! MANSAE to SEVENTEEN, who’s going to move forward to the top!!

Joshua: We were given a resting time after a long time. So, I had a date with the members. *laughs* We went to COEX and hung out. After a long time, we’ve played games together and ate delicious food. We rested, so we’ve regained energy and will be making good stages.

And we have to go back to Ilsan for Show Champion broadcast, it’s crazy. *laughs* We looked for Mark PD-nim and greeted him when we ended!! *laughs* It’s been a long time since we saw each other, so it’s really good.

Coups: My body condition is not really good…..I caught a cold, have a fever, and keep on coughing. I said that I’ll take care of my body well, but I’ve found myself like this. I’m confused and worrying that the members will get infected as well. When I get the time tomorrow, I’m going to have to get injections.

Jun: Today is the 26th, and it is Chuseok~~ *laughs* I really, really like it~~~~ And today, we wore hanboks to perform MANSAE. It was really cute and fun~~ Tomorrow, after a long time, is our resting day. Though I feel sad because I won’t be able to be with my family, it’s fine because I’m with the members *laughs* Everyone, have a good Chuseok too. *laughs*

Dokyeom: Today, we went to Music Bank~!! In that place, we’ve met with Jo Yeongnam-seonsaengnim and greeted him, and we did a fighting~ *laughs* Usually, a lot of sunbaenims cheer on us, and today, the cheering ment from big sunbaenims, so it felt different. Thank you. We’ll work hard well~~!!! Today when we ended our schedules and practiced, Wonwoo-hyung’s parents gave us dinner!! Jeonghan: We were done with Inkigayo, then met with the fans after a long time through a fansign event. Exactly today is my birthday, so a lot of people greeted me and I received a lot of cheers. The things that made me sleepless and tired melted like melting snow. Yesterday, when I went to the company building, there were more cakes than I expected, so I was surprised… When we had the pre-recording, there were banners saying happy birthday, so thanks to our fans, I could bear my exhaustion. *laughs* I really thank everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonwoo: Right before going on the stage today, the part that connects the in-ear piece to the mic split up, so I was hasty.. I was taken aback, but I thought of a way to solve this. I sort of gave up some parts of the choreography, quickly undid the button of the back pocket, and it went in just before my part..sigh..Almost held the mic pack with one hand. *cries* When it ended, we monitored. It wasn’t very obvious, so I was relieved. I was upset, since I didn’t think I was able to do as well as usual. Euheong! I have to check before going on the stage next time.

Seungkwan: We had fansign events in Daegu and Busan today for the second mini album. It’s been a long time since we’ve gone to Daegu and Busan, so I was happy. *laughs* When we used to come here for ‘Adore U’, it was a bit hot, but now the weather is very chilly. I missed the fans a lot, too. It was good, and I always gain strength. *laughs* We went there, and shot a video in Daegu, and enjoyed the autumn scenery in the beach in Gwangalli, Busan. It was really good. *laughs* I want to go again.

Mingyu: We had a stage on Show Champion today…But for today, that’s not the biggest thing..*cries* The problem is… My wisdom tooth…hurts…It’s a bit crooked, but if I take it out, it will swell up for days. If I take it out right away, it can affect the other nerves. I can’t take it out, and I’m ‘raising it’ well…I want to take it out right away. *laughs* Good bye, let’s stop, let’s break up.

It took me forever to realise that was a long scarf Jeonghan was wearing and not some mage robe. I couldn't figure why he was the only one in costume at first lol.
I am 100% Seungcheol in those Hoshi/Mingyu gifs. And I bet from Vernon's angle it looked like they were genuinely making out - hence his reaction.
I smiled the entire way through their Show Champion stages today. The newest mansae changes are soooo cute.
It's taking all my willpower not to comment on every single thing but will just say that I hope Jeonghan wears his hair down for at least one of the goodbye stages. It's just sooooo long now.

Jihoon's voice is usually more on the soft side, so the deep shouting-like ad-libs really surprised me.
