onew guested at jonghyun's (tenth) concert today; op is a mess about it.

so, jonghyun's at the very end of his run of solo concerts this weekend: he had his tenth and eleventh concerts today and he'll be having his twelfth, the final, tomorrow. with every concert he's had a different guest so far: taemin (was a guest at the first - i made a post at the end of the first week that talked about about that), soloist jung in, poet / soloist ha sang wook, coffee boy, nine of dear cloud, okdal, soloist lee ji hyung, zion.t and soran all guested before today and... today? onew was the special guest! the concerts as a whole have been kinda of "hush hush" in terms of material shared, either because it's difficult to record or people are withholding until they're all finished before they share pictures / video, but either way: there's been a slew of both fan accounts and pictures that came out of the first show today and i figured it'd be cool to gush over them here.

... and that duet is "please don't go" which they haven't sang live in over six years. enjoy.

(i think) they repeated "guest, please come out!" there times. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ lee jinki's mischief is through the roof. ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ he came out and jonghyun hugged jinki and they high fived each other too and put their hands on their thighs too and embraced when jonghyun was leaving. (via onmorae)

(on watching jonghyun's concert) onew: to tell the truth i don't get nervous very much these days either, you know? (but) watching jonghyun performing a concert like this alone from backstage..., something about it gave me a lump in my throat and, even though he was doing really well, i'd think: "oh, what if he makes a mistake somewhere?" and i get worried too.

jonghyun kept staring at jinki instead of the audience? he moved his arm during the talk and knocked over the water bottle that he'd put below the sofa and spilled water. during "잠꼬대 ((please don't go)" they both had their eyes closed and then, in the last part, when jinki sings: "hold me as i stay still in that spot" only kim jonghyun opened his eyes to stare at jinki.

during the last line of "잠꼬대 ((please don't go)", jonghyun singing while staring at jinki. the concert goer seriously thought they were gonna pass out. when jonghyun was thanking onew for coming / saying goodbyes on the sofa he rubbed jinki's leg as if it were his own. the last hug, sob, what even was that (back) stroking.

onew: in jonghyun's case, at times, he has a lot of aegyo and he's a friend who has many different talents. he's composed, written lyrics and, in shinee, he gives a lot of advice to our friends and in all sorts of ways. he does radio too so he talks to us based on many different experiences. so, i came to think of him as a friend who proposes "how about we do this?" when the team faces some kind of problem and wrote that (in the postcard), but this is really ... compromising (for me) ...

(jinki's explaination for his song requests.) onew: i'm choosing the songs that i want to hear, right? as a matter of fact, the songs i chose are songs that will truly allow jonghyun to pull out his true self and reveal as much as possible.

onew: it was really hard for me to pick but, uh, jonghyun is able to make this many fans feel moved through his singing, right? in a technical way, really technical... technique ... tech ...

onew: anyway, because i thought it would be good if we could show that side of you to everyone together, and when i listen beside you, i wanted to think: "ah, this kid has this side to him, too."

jinki requested songs that he wanted to hear, without a doubt ... when he requested the gwiomyi song jonghyun was like: "ah, why is this hyung being like this?" but jinki was totally serious. jonghyun was jumping around ranting, "why does it have to be the gwiyomi song?!" but jinki was totally calm.

jonghyun kept going "ing~ing~ (a whining noise) because jinki kept making him do cute songs so jinki said jonghyun usually does things that look "cool" but is normally really cute. ㅋㅋㅋㅋ jonghyun said: "i'm manly though ..." and jinki was like: "that's why~ i'm saying~ let's show an unexpected~ side of you~" jinki was humoring and coaxing jonghyun.

jonghyun: i really gained a lot of strength from onew today. when shinee is promoting as five and holds concerts together it's really reassuing but, when i've had these solo concerts, i've kept on feeling like there would be problems and there is nobody (on stage) to make me laugh. it's really felt empty. onew-ssi is always the one who makes me laugh until i get really breathless. the second week (of the concerts) was really tough but i hope to get some laughs during the guest corner (this week). (onew chuckled at this.)

jonghyun said that him and onew are the "old men" in shinee. they kept calling each other "cute". onew has a lot of aegyo normally and jonghyun is the one who makes onew laugh when onew is tired.

Just when I was wondering why other members aside from Tae hadn't gone to any of Jjong's concerts this happens. You're a mess, OP? I can assure that I'm even a bigger mess than you now. They've gone from being awkward around each other (due that famous fight or whatever) to display their closeness and affection for each other like this. I feel like fucking CRYING tbh.
And I have no words for how beautiful their duet sounded. They both have improved a lot as vocalists and it wouldn't be weird to affirm they're probably one of the best vocalists in kpop ever. I hope Jinki gets that solo and Jjong features in one of his songs / compose for him because I'm such trash for their relationship both in a professional and personal level.

It's only rumors tbh, but lots of people say that the reason why SHINee was so awkward with each other (or more like with Onew) around 2011-2012 was because Jongyu had a huge argument that even ended up on a physical fight. Idk how true is that but if you see videos from that period you can tell something definitely happened between those 2. I'm glad they overcame their differences and got so close again.

lol. it's funny because i've talked to translator friends and those rumors legitimately never went around with k-fans. it was all i-fans: started by and spread by. there was obvious tension but physical fight? if it happened we knew nothing of the truth about it, lmao.

Yeah, it was mostly i-fans talking about that supposed fight tbh. They said that it was when Onew was depressed and wanted to leave the group, Jjong yelled at him and Onew ended up punching him, so the other members took Jjong's side and that's why everyone looked like they were ignoring Onew all the time.
A friend also showed me some letters she found in weibo in where Onew apologized to Jonghyun for not being a good leader and Jonghyun was like "that's not true blah blah" but they look totally fake. And tbh, I wouldn't be surprised if it was Onew's akgae fans who started these rumors. They particulary seem too fixated in that Jjong is a bully, most of the others are his minions and poor Onew is a martyr or something. There was this particular tumblr user that took every single Jongyu interaction as "bullying" by Jjong's part. It was ridiculous.

the reason why i found it completely impossible to believe anyway was that, if something had happened like that and someone had found out, k-fans would have done everything in their power to keep it from spreading and probably would have succeeded in the task. they're scary good at that sort of thing.

it was definitely onew's akgae fans. it rooted from one or two onew akgae's who made up this outrageous story involving that fighting, ect. and pushed it enough that people started to believe it and the rest is obviously history. but, yeah, lmao. i know who you're talking about probably, there were a whole mess of onew akgae's on tumblr like that for awhile there in 2013-ish.

plus, if i recall correctly, there was a blind item post in 2012 or around the time of sherlock promos and when onew took a short break. it was about some member of a boy group punching someone else and being bullied, but somehow international fans said it resembled shinee even though it didn't make any logical sense at all. after that people spread it around like it was fact (the way people do with any rumor). i don't get how people believe groundless rumors like that. and i never got the vibe that they were aggressive towards each other even in the slightest. (plus we're talking about jonghyun who said it makes him feel bad to hurt people even in video games)

also i think it's really interesting how the perceptions of shinee (or any group really) can differ so much between international and k-fans

me either tbh, but i've noticed that a lot of international fans seem to latch onto rumored links to blind items like leeches. just because something's said doesn't mean it's legitimate or completely accurate, lmao. i never got the vibe that they were either. were they cold? and i guess anything's possible but, like you said, jonghyun's talked about how much violence scares him so throws me off even more now that people would believe that so easily. (i'm guessing it had a lot to do with ~misconceptions still attached to jonghyun's image back then, but...)

that bugs me a lot too tbh, because i've never seen anything wrong with him saying they were his co-workers, because that's basically what they are after all, but that doesn't mean he doesn't care at all about them. not to mention that he said that like 4-5 years ago and things can change a lot in such long time. in fact, in a more recent interview (2013ish I think?) he said that they DO hang out with each other in private sometimes but i've almost never seen people mentioning that. they simply stick to that "co-worker" interview when there are way more recent instances in which he's said he's close with the members. not to mention his recent ig posts in which he takes pics with minho and onew when they went to see his musical and captioned both with "i love you". but ofc people keep ignoring that and sticking to that comment from ages ago. smh.

The first thing I saw on twitter today was the fan accounts and the audio links to the live performances and I was a mess! I am still a mess tbh but it's the good kind!

I'm pretty new to the SHINee world (View did the trick and sucked me in^^) but I've always liked Jin Ki and their title tracks.
