f(x)’s Victoria’s Per Episode Earnings in China Revealed

f(x)‘s Victoria revealed her earnings in China, surprising everyone with her immense popularity.

On the October 14 broadcast of MBC‘s “Radio Star,” Victoria appeared as a guest and had a talk with the MCs.

During the show, her labelmate Kyuhyun revealed, “Victoria is hugely popular in China.”

At this, Kim Gu Ra adds in, “It’s said that with every appearance, Victoria gets paid 100,000,000 KRW (~approximately $89,000). We’re paupers compared to China.”

Meanwhile, on the show, Victoria was also asked, “What’s happening with f(x) now? One of the members left the group to focus on acting.”

Victoria replied calmly, “We’re going to work hard as a four-member group now.”

sm artists are one of the richest i think. iirc sm (along with yg and jyp?) pay their artists straight off the bat since debut because they have enough $$$ to do that

btw.. SM gives their artists the least percentage compared to YG and JYP.. I I've read this somewhere ..
SM = company 70% / Artist 30%
YG = company 40% / Artist 60%
JYP = company 50% / Artist 50%

but they are successful and do lots of world tours and events so ofc they are one of the richest lol

Keep in mind though, most of the numbers we see are before the split(if they are even correct. If someone says they get 100,000 for a episode but they have a 70:30 split then they are probably getting 30,000. That's all assuming the 70% covers everything the company does for them. If not then that payout probably shrinks really fast.

The one that I'm absolutely sure of is JYP. It's pretty well known that they split it 50:50, then the group would split their share further.

Members in all companies have the same terms when it comes to profits from music, they mainly only differ (if any) in contract length.

Not all of them thou. Especially in multi member bands like exo gg n suju individual earnings vary a lot. Actually even dbsk split was due to their distribuition and how little they earned. Also the unfairness of sm monetary distribuition but also their artists are usually uninvolved in songwriting composing which would usually give them ip money. Which is why Junhyung from b2st bigbang and now jyj make a lot more money than their counterparts.

Actually individual earnings vary due to their respective individual activities. Dramas, movies, cfs, endorsements, musicals, so on and so forth. The percentages above are used in reference to music activities only.

Isn't that kinda...low for China? I'm pretty sure that's what they pay the Koreans aka cheaper immigrant labour.
I swear most Chinese stars (at Vic's level or higher) get $250k+ The super A-list can make a $500k to a million per episode because they also get credited as ~producers~ (which is why Vic having her own studio is normal in China).

Nvm, I got the numbers mixed up. My figures are in RMB not USD lol, so US$100k is about right.
It really is interesting, and it explains why Korean actors jump at the chance to go to china. copying from above:

people's imaginary facts about how the earnings are divided is amusing especially those who claim SM is fair. the only thing we do know is that YG artists are generally wealthier than artists from the other two even though their earnings probably fluctuates a lot because of their super long hiatuses.
