Although summer was great, my absolute favorite season of the year is definitely fall. From the beautiful colors of the leaves to the slightly chilly weather, I love everything about fall. Another thing that I also love about fall is the gorgeous makeup trends that fit this chic season. Here are eight must-have items for Fall 2015!

Eyes

VDL has recently collaborated with Pantone to create three beautiful makeup palettes. Out of the three, my favorite is Color Eye Book 6.4 No. 1. I love everything about this eye shadow palette from the packaging to the colors. This palette comes with mostly neutral browns and a couple of shimmery pinks, making it the perfect everyday eye shadow palette. Out of the 12 colors, the one color that stood out to me the most is the shade Marsala. For those of you who don’t know yet, marsala is the color of the year 2015. Although this burgundy wine color looks intimidating to use on a daily basis, it’s actually a dazzling pop of color that’s perfect for this season.

I personally am not a huge fan of Halloween because I get scared really easily. However, I am most definitely a fan of cute eye shadow palettes. The Etude House Fantastic Color Eyes are most charming eye shadow palettes I’ve ever seen. Not only is the packaging adorable, the product itself contains the most appealing shades of oranges and browns ranging from cream shadows to powdery matte shadows and shimmery and glittery eye shadows. Because I’m a bit more tan than most of my friends, I enjoy using oranges on my eyes to compliment my skin tone rather than pinks. The Honey Pumpkin color in this eye shadow palette is definitely one of my favorite orange eye shadows because it is the first matte orange eye shadow I’ve seen! It’s the perfect base color for the color Caramelizing, a caramel gold color. (P.S. I also love how cute the names of the eye shadows in this palette are.)

When I think about fall and the change in weather, one thing that immediately comes to my mind is a cute knit sweater for chilly days. Although these eye shadows won’t keep you warm, they have the perfect knit print that makes them quite darling! Out of the available colors, I think the color Surprising Muse is perfect for this season since it is a dusty rose pink color with hints of sparkle. Often times, because I am tan-skinned, when I apply pink onto my eyes, the pink does not compliment my skin tone and makes my eye lids appear bloated. However, this color compliments every skin tone with its slightly grey undertone that gives your eyes depth! Trust me on this one, my roommate has been using my eye shadow everyday and even went out to buy one for herself!

Face

My favorite type of face makeup is hands down matte. However, when seasons change, my face does this weird thing where it starts to peel. I hate it whenever my skin does this because I cannot wear matte foundations since they emphasize the dry spots on my face. However this Espoir Bare Skin Complexion CC Cream in Mineral Glow really makes my skin appear perfectly hydrated. Other than having a super long name, this product is unique in the sense that it is a foundation and a face cream. When you pump out the product, part of the product will contain the face cream while the other part is CC cream. Once you blend the product into your skin, it has the perfect amount of coverage while making it seem like you have no makeup on. I recommend this to those who have super dry skin like me and dread the winter season’s cold harsh winds.

For those of you who don’t know what a cushion foundation is yet, you’ve been missing out! It’s super easy to carry around and use. Think of it as a pressed powder, but with a liquid foundation. It saves so much time in the mornings because you don’t need to worry about the mess of liquid foundations. All you need to do is dab and go! Cushion foundations are definitely my favorite item to take to class.

The Innisfree Ampoule Intense Cushion is the cushion of your dreams if you have dry skin. It includes a hydrating ampoule serum with a foundation that will keep your face protected from the harsh cold winds while providing moisture to your face. It also provides medium to high coverage. It’s especially great with acne prone skin because it provides moisture to dry spots from acne. This product also includes SPF! That’s one less step that you need to worry about when you’re running late.

Lips

When I think of autumn, I think of trench coats. And when I think of trench coats, I immediately think of lipstick. Red or burgundy lipsticks to be exact. Innisfree’s newest lipstick line, the Real Fit Lipsticks have a variety of colors that you can choose from. From daily pinks to corals and even burgundy wines, the line has all the hot colors of the season. They also have an extremely light consistency. You don’t need to worry about the lipstick smearing onto your teeth with this lipstick because it dries as soon as it touches your lips! Other than the color marsala, another trend that’s been exploding in Korea lately is the “dried rose” color trend. I know. What? That was my reaction when I first heard about this trend. However, by dried rose, they actually mean a dusty rose pink color. If you are looking for that perfect dried rose color, I would recommend the Innisfree Real Fit Lipstick in the #8 also labeled as A Cup Of Rose Latte. With this color, you will have people asking you for your lipstick color everywhere you go!

The Etude House Dear Darling Tints have always been one of my favorite lip tints. I can proudly say that I’ve been through multiple tubes of all the colors in that collection. The color of the Halloween Dear Darling Tint in Witch Red is the perfect cherry pink color for this season. This product has a hint of neon pink, making it a truly unique color that I have been wearing every day this past week! Also, the Etude House Dear Darling Tints can be drying. However, this new formula tints my lips to perfection while providing more moisture to my lips.

Nails

One of my favorite ways to wind down after a long week is to watch my favorite TV show while eating popcorn as I paint my nails. Because summer is over, I’ve been gradually moving away from brighter colors as I get my mood settled in for the deeper and more chic colors of autumn. Etude House really did a great job with their packaging for this season because they make me want to just buy everything. The Etude House Halloween Play Nails come in the most exquisite shades. The color selection for this nail polish line is absolutely perfect for fall!

Soompi

i want all of these products, especially that pantone palette *__* i love fall bc im all about dark lipstick and halloween manicures!

there's so many korean beauty products i wanna try, especially skincare, but these brands and companies provide so little info in regards to whether their ingredients are sourced ethically and whether they're cruelty free or not. :(

Also anyone has tarte lipstick, I want to buy a bunch for xmas (Amazonian butter lipstick) but I don't know much about the formula?

Lately I've been obsessed with the brand Atrue. They use fermented black tea and I've only used the cushion and cleansing water and both are so good. The cushion is too light for me tho lol so I use a colored powder but it really makes me glow.

I also just bought the watery oil-free gel cream from Primera. Anyone use that before? Can't wait for it to come to me.

Anyone have a good primer they can recommend for oily skin? I have tried every primer at Sephora and nothing works. I also have the Innisfree and Sulwhasoo ones but neither help with the oiliness.

Also I love that now there are so many k-beauty online stores based out of New York. Soko, Peach & Lily, Skin Milk Bar, Insider Beauty, Cupidrop. I love not having to wait long for most of my products

I love the influx of U.S. based k-beauty retailers; I just wish I could get everything I use in one place! ToT I use a lot of CosRX products, so I get them from MelodyCosme and Cupidrop, and I get most of my makeup from Peach & Lily and Soko Glam, but then I have like one product from each of the remaining retailers and my cheap side is always so frustrated that I can't justify bumping up my order into the free shipping range, haha.

Honestly, given the oiliness of my skin and the Florida's constant humidity, I've resigned myself to always needing Innisfree's no sebum setting powder. That said, if you haven't tried Son & Park's glow ring foundation yet, I would definitely try it. It's not as convenient as my favorite cushion compacts, but it's the single most matte base product I've found from any k-beauty company, and it has great coverage and staying power. It's what I use when I know I'm going to be spending all day at an amusement park, and don't want my makeup literally sliding down my face halfway through the day, haha.

speaking of palettes, for people who don't want to spend too much Money, I recomend the H&M new make-up line. it's amazing and the eye-shadows are like freaking velvet, and the mate lipsticks are just too good and don't leave your lips completely dry.
When it comes to concealer I've actually tried many and I've yet to find one that satisfies me because I've a few acne marks and I want to hide them as best as possible and yet, I can't find a single thing (and I've an amazing Foundation!)

also, totally OT, but can someone recomend some light comedy movies like "The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" or "The Hundred Foot Journey"?
I love those kind of movies

Best bb creams for oily skin?

Date: 2015-10-12 12:55 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tsukiokuhime.livejournal.com
I have the most horrible oily skin and big pores at that, after I tried some bb creams (from Korean to Japanese), I found out that bb cream clogged my pores (hence the frequent break out) and did nothing to prevent my face from getting oily (plus the horrible shade range, most of them are gray-ish) T__T

I haven't tried western bb or cc cream tho, I cannot say much abt them

i love all the products here except for the cushion foundation. A lot of people don't know how unhygienic they are, particularly in warm and humid countries. I used to disbelieve that, cos the idea of the cushion foundation sounded so simple and easy to me. I bought it, and tried it. The next day 5 pimples appeared on my face, one of them took more than 3 weeks to heal. It's no coincidence because I only applied the foundation to half my face, and all the pimples were on the side i applied it to. Some of my friends said the same thing happened to them. I also find the coverage to be super heavy, so I stick to a japanese CC cream (i love the nature republic one but it's a tad too heavy for daily use)

That being said, it doesn't cause any breakouts for my mum who doesn't have sensitive skin. I have really really really truly sensitive skin, so this is just a warning i guess :)

Has anyone here used COSRX products? I'm looking into their BHA and AHA lines and wondering if they'd be a good fit (I have super oily skin that's very acne prone). On that note, best cushion compact recommendation for oily skin too?

i'm mad that i'm late to this post.

k-beauty brands have been rolling out so many character collaborations lately. my wallet is suffering. there's skinfood+snoopy, missha+wonder woman, aritaum+sticky monster lab, a'pieu+doraemon, beyond+alice in wonderland, vdl+kakaofriends (2nd season!), code+moomin... i'm sure there's more that i've missed out.

the doraemon collection by a'pieu is just adorable. i have the doraemon air fit cushion and it's SO CUTE + the foundation itself is great. the reviews for the eyeshadow palettes were mixed so i didn't get them in the end even though the case was really cute. i've been really into eyeshadow palettes lately but i already have enough to last me 2 more years of daily use T_T

also if you're planning on getting the alice in glow cream shadows from beyond, i'd suggest going for aritaum shine fix eyes instead. the beyond ones are very!! sparkly!!! but don't last long without a primer.

i love cushion foundations, but if you're looking for a full coverage i think bb creams or foundations are still the best choice.

i have a super oily and acne prone skin, and currently i'm using hera uv mist cushion, i must say it's really good. it doesnt break me out at all and it stays all day. it has a medium coverage but it's not a problem for me. the only downside of it is just that it has a dewy finish which i think is good for dry skin, but since i have an oily skin i just need to retouch my face with powder.

i'm still looking for bb creams with matte finish though, any recommendations?

I've heard that Hera is releasing the long stay matt version of the UV mist cushion. Maybe look for that? I'm currently using the ultra moisture version, and my skin is more of a combo. I want to try the matt version as well, if I can get my hands on it :P

I'm loving the Faceshop Lovely Me:ex you & Face blusher though. Packaging is simple, cute and sturdy. The colour is buildable, not crazy pigmented, because the powder is quite pressed and almost has no fall out. I kinda like it

Wish I can get my hand on the Espoir's foundation soon. I've heard good things about it!

As a poor person, these are all great picks but I can't buy them so I'll just find dupes :c

GIVE ME EVERYTHINGGGGG

I got EH's Halloween palettes from last year too. I can't say no to that packaging... (actually I can't say no to Etude House's packaging in general. I think I buy at least one item from the collections they release here lol)

But I'm so into Halloween nails lately and I hope that line becomes available here!!!

Although ngl I've been into non-AB products this season tho. I've been loving LA Splash's Smitten Lip Tint mouses, and LA Girls' HD pro concealer.

Since this is a beauty post, anyone have any makeup tutorial sites or youtube channel that is easy to understand and doesn't require that I have any real makeup skills.

I wasn't allowed to wear any makeup growing up and I didn't start to wear makeup till my mid 20s. Most of my friends are not Asian so they were not a great source on how to deal with skin tone, skin type, non creased eyelids.

It's only been recently that Asian features have been getting proper tutorials but most of the videos I've come across - the person has the creamy pale poreless skin, the beautiful almond shaped eye with visible creases and long lashes or people with amazing makeup skills that even if I'm able to follow end up still end up looking like sad panda or it looks great but an hour later, is gone/smeared cause my skin is producing a ton of oil.
I know I"m being picky but I can't stand the 30 min videos of someone putting on bb cream cause they are talking for 27 min about all the OTHER makeup they have/use cause it's a review disguised as a tutorial.

And a skin care question : My mom always had this dark patches on her cheeks - sort of large irregular freckles. I can't remember the korean term for it and I don't know if in English, the would call it age spots or what?
Since she started getting them in her late teens, I thought I wasn't going to get them but in the past year, I started to get "freckles" that are now too large to be called freckles. It's probably a combination of genetics and sun damage ( My generation didn't wear too much sunblock) but does anyone know how to treat it? Or creams to lighten it. Covering it works for an hour or two but by the end of a long day or a slightly humid day, it starts to appear.
Some people have said its rosacea but it's not red.

I've done an awful amount of typing and bad explaining but I hope someone can help share some beauty/skincare wisdom. Thanks!!!

I'm no expert on freckles or whatnot, but many magazines/blogs I've read mentioned the following ingredients to look for in brightening/lightening/evening out skin tone: niacinamide, vitamin C and AHA. You can read more about AHA in here (http://fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2015/02/25/star-ingredients-ahas-and-bhas/) and niacinamide in here (http://fiftyshadesofsnail.com/2015/03/19/star-ingredient-niacinamide/) for starters. Hope that helps!
