BIGBANG's TOP Persuades Suicidal Fan From Negative Thoughts

BIGBANG's TOP is known for his elusive nature, which is why fans were so surprised when he finally opened up his own Instagram! The rapper further excited fans with his active participation on his social media account, updating fans with various pictures, whether it be quirky selcas or downright strange photos of furniture, and even replies to certain fans!

However, TOP has proven that he's truly a kind spirit with his recent generous fan service to a particular fan in need. On September 13th, the BIGBANG member posted a picture of orchids to which a fan commented, "Why do you like this flower? It's a flower that'll wither soon." TOP then responded, "That kind of mindset is wrong."



Following the exchange, another fan joined in, but with a darker story. She wrote:

"Even though I'm not the one you were directing your response to, after seeing your reply to the question of why you like a flower that will wither soon, I was touched. Just a few hours ago, I was overcome with negative thoughts that were pushing me to do something extreme..... However, I'm always cheered up because of you. Thank you so much... You're not just someone who makes people happy, you're also a person that moves people's hearts."

TOP commented back, "People are not as simple or foolish or miserable as their extreme thoughts. Just live happily."



Later, the fan wrote, "I want to resemble the way you look at things and your sensibility. You're very different and special. I want to become a beautiful person like you."

TOP expressed his gratitude with a simple, "Thank you..."



In case you didn't understand, the "extreme thing" that TOP and the fan were referring to is suicide. It seems this particular fan was having a difficult time, to the point of contemplating suicide, but she was able to pull through because of TOP. How awesome is that?

I've been living with depression for almost 20 years now, and I simply adore what he said. My feelings and thoughts are valid, whether good or bad, no matter what anyone had tried to convince me otherwise. And I keep fresh flowers in almost every room all the time. Totally not a waste.

i wonder which translation is more accurate? the couple that were going around before official sites scooped it had him using far more blunt phrasing which, imo, sounded more personally understanding.

people in this thread are so cynical. top's no therapist, this is just a nice thing he has done that no other idol would have bothered to do :/ having this picked up as news isnt unexpected since we have idols being reported for their big (but !secret!) donations to charity anyway..

Yes, I think the same. When I posted this I thought people would enjoy seeing a positive news about an idol. But all they can say it's how TOP didn't help her at all. I mean, we will always wish the best for people we like, even if our words will not cure them. But this will not stop us to saying nice words.

First of all, media will post anything that will catch attention, because this is what media does.
Second, this is not a viral news. Sometimes fans see idols replying other fans on SNS and talk about that. From what I saw, TOP's fans in general felt touched by his words. Not because he is saving that fan, but because he showed a real side of him. I believe it's very problematic when idols show their true selves or talk about delicate things, because they can be misunderstood and cause controversies. But sometimes it's nice to see that they are human too.
Third, when friend or family is sick we wish them the best. This doesn't mean that our words will cure them, but I'm sure that people like to hear nice words. When a friend is sick you tell them, "I will not wish you to feel good soon, because my words aren't magic and your problem is more profound than that"? I don't think so.
Fourth, I will not say that TOP is the most extraordinary person just because he wrote a nice comment to his fan, but yeah, it was very nice of him to show his empathy to her.

Sometimes Omona is very tiring. People should just enjoy a positive news.

Why are people acting like YG or TOP is media playing this to make him seem like a good guy. He reached out to a fan, and while it probably didn't do much to her depression in the long term, probably made her really happy in that moment. The media picked it up like it does for most things and made a story out of it.
