EXO to Hold First Ever Dome Concert in Korea

SM Entertainment male group EXO is set to host Korea’s first ever dome concert, which will take place the in Seoul Gocheok Dome Baseball Stadium.

The popular idol group will be hosting their concert 2015 EXO-Love CONCERT in DOME on October 10th in the Seoul Gocheok Dome Baseball Stadium. EXO will be making history by becoming the first idol group or artist to host a concert in a dome in South Korea.

This concert is a response to and a gift for fans who have successfully helped EXO sell over one million physical copies of their latest album LOVE ME RIGHT, landing first place on various music charts, and winning first place 30 times on various music programs.
The concert will consist of not only stage performances, but also of various events including special performances and a talk session with the fans.

The ticket sales will begin on internet ticket website ‘Yes24’ starting September 21st 8:00 PM KST. Other details regarding the concert will be available on SMTOWN’s official home page.


Earlier, we reported that EXO will be making history by being the first group to host a dome concert in the Seoul Gocheok Dome Baseball Stadium. Although EXO will be going down in the history books, many netizens and fans of other idol group showed disapproval for allegedly using that fact as ‘noise marketing’ in order to promote the concert. The Seoul Gocheok Dome Baseball Stadium finished its construction this 2015, and many netizens claim that it isn’t fair for EXO to promote their concert by mentioning it as if EXO would be making an incredible accomplishment. They argued that EXO will be the first group to host a concert in a dome only because there weren’t any domes in South Korea in the past.

Here are some of the negative netizen reactions below.
1. [ +8931 / -2469] It’s only because the dome just finished its construction.. I don’t think mentioning this as an accomplishment is fair or ethical. If there was a dome in Korea before, TVXQ and BIGBANG would have already hosted their concerts there.
2. [ +6783 / -2195] It’s only because Seoul Gocheok Dome Baseball Stadium just finished its construction.. That’s why EXO will be the first ever…. So this accomplishment doesn’t really feel like an amazing accomplishment at all…

5. [ +472 / -41] This is not much of an accomplishment…
However, other netizens have responded to these negative comments in defense.

If someone else wanted to tote that they were having the first concert at the dome then they should have booked it before SM.

i'm not even surprised at all by the comments, what surprised me more was the capacity of the actual dome: it's apparently only a little over 20k which isn't even half of tokyo dome's capacity but it's still a good 10k bigger than olympic gymnastic stadium, so! congrats.

Tbh I didn't find any of the songs on the LMR repackage up to the level of any of the songs on Exodus but that may just be because I prefer the darker, R&B-ish EXO with heavy instrumentals like we got on Exodus/Overdose/MAMA. It's still worth a check though because it's only 4 songs.

Wow they also managed to sell 1 million copies for Love Me Right. At this rate, despite all the scandals, EXO in the way to become the most successful act ever come out from SM. 10/15 years back, selling a million is impossible but now they kinda did it with each one of their releases. I know its multiple versions but its still an accomplishment nonetheless.

How was EXO at concert? Is it as entertaining as Arashi with all the fireworks, balloons, moving stages or water screen? Or is it just a normal concert? Are they allocate time for each of the member to have their own solos?

I don't know if it's the most successful act from SM, considering back in the day when H.O.T. had comebacks and concerts, the whole country would stop XD plus had eight million fanclub members just in China, and they also sold million albums almost ten years ago and so on.

i think natizens' beef with saying exo is the first group to hold a dome concert in Korea is that it sounds like no other group in Korea has or had enough fans to fill a dome concert in Korea? I don't know, that's how it sounds to me. Not sure why people are surprised that that's how media&SM are playing this that's kind of their job to make it sound as big as possible lmao
