H.O.T. reunion a possibility as they near their 20th anniversary

One of the hottest boy group that ever came to debut under SM Entertainment back in the mid to late 90s may be reuniting after 14 years!

According to an insider in the music industry on September 3rd, former H.O.T. members Moon Hee Jun, Kangta, Tony Ahn, Jang Woo Hyuk, and Lee Jae Won have been meeting to discuss the possibilities of returning to the stage and greeting their fans after 14 years of hiatus as they are nearing their two-decade anniversary. Because it is difficult for five people with different schedules to meet, meetings took place in small groups.

It is said that SM Entertainment’s own Lee Soo Man is supporting the idea of a reunion as the group near their 20 years anniversary, prompting Kangta, the only remaining H.O.T. member to stay with SM Entertainment even until today, to organize this reunion.

H.O.T. made their debut in September 1996 and was one of the hottest male K-pop acts whose songs continue to be played and are loved even until today. They are depicted as the legends of K-pop’s 1st generation idols and have released hits such as “Candy,” “Happiness,” and more. Unfortunately, the group disbanded in 2001 with three of its member forming another group jtL before even they parted ways in 2003.

Currently, all five members resides in different agencies with Moon Hee Jun active both as a singer and on television, Kangta continuing activities as a singer and actor in China, Tony Ahn as a singer and music producer, Jang Woo Hyuk conducting activities as a Korean singer in China, and Lee Jae Won as an actor on the musical stage.

I mean, I got into the scene after they split, but the stories I heard of HOT showed that they were pretty much the kings during their time.

Looking at the fact they had only like Sechs Kies as the "worthy" rivals (not so many groups to divert attention like now) and was like the first real idol fever ( the new, exicting thing) I believe they were that big. I remember Eun Ji Won ( leader of Sechs Kies) once said on Happy Together(?) something along the lines that when you looked at the audience it was always all white balloons (hot official colour) and then a far smaller part of yellow(for SK) and it looked like egg lol

Damn there's a list of H.O.T.'s accomplishments in Korea but I can't find it...

a few stuff from the list... they were the first group to have a korean fanclub name, fan color, fanchants.
classes were cancelled on the day H.O.T.'s concerts happen..
or the classes would finish earlier.

Transportation would get clogged. Extra security was always needed.
Cities would be paralyzed every time H.O.T had their comeback...
They had one hour comebacks....
Their Chinese fanclub had 8 million people.
I could go on tbh. lol

Jaewon, from what I recall, but the girl retracted and said she didn't actually know what happened. She woke up in a motel and thought she had been raped.

Now, there's always a chance this could be a cover up, but it didn't seem like it to me. It was cleared up relatively quickly, from what I remember, and Jaewon didn't slander the girl at all, as many accused are inclined to do.

I found out about them in 04? The only songs I could find from them at the time were Candy and Warrior's Descendant (which i though was super badass lol). I kinda gave up trying to stan for them bc finding their songs online was so hard and I was a very poor hs student :(
I also briefly stanned for Woo Hyuk after this one website named him as a look-alike of Tetsu from L'arc

I'm curious to see how this rolls out, because I'm bitter that JTL were blocked by SM when they left :(
It sometimes feels like they're still blocked so...it'll be interesting if this reunion means I get to see JTL on TV more.
