While digital publications thrive, print is still very much alive. MUTZINE would like to introduce the monthly publications that shape the fashion culture in South Korea. First up are Ceci, Looktique, and Cracker Your Wardrobe!

Ceci launched on October 1994 and its first issue sold out in only 3 hours. Over it's 20 year trajectory Ceci has been the source for getting acquainted with celebrities, as its cover models are always Korea’s top stars.

This medium glossy is dedicated to 30% feature, 35% fashion, and 35% beauty editorials. Ceci's editors take great care in curating the very best of Korean fashion and beauty in combination with international brands that enter the Korean market. The magazine also publishes tutorials that guide young women through life's most critical points. Some of the popular mainstays include: Campus Style Master, Star’s It Look, How to Make-Over, Career Map, and Love Tip.

Riding on the success of the Korean Wave, Ceci launched Ceci China in 2008 and Ceci Thailand in 2012, truly becoming Asia's No. 1 Trend Magazine.

“Cracker doesn’t deal with fantasies.” Established in September 2007, Cracker Your Wardrobe aims to cover attainable fashion. Contributing photographers capture street style moments in Seoul, Daegu, Gwangju, and Busan domestically, as well as in global fashion hubs. Most notably with Youngjoo Koo reporting from New York City.

Influenced by Japanese street fashion magazines Fruits and Tune, Cracker Your Wardrobe is bold and colorful from cover to cover. Apart from the dedicated street style photography sections, Cracker Your Wardrobe has a few ongoing series that have contribute to the magazine's cult-like following. The most popular being, “Attack Your Wardrobe", where featured creatives display everything in their wardrobe and it becomes an object of art and admiration.

Since contributing to a tangible fashion culture is Cracker Your Wardrobe's core objective, Cracker Lab has collaborated with numerous Korean streetwear brands to produce limited items that range from clothing to stationery.

Heavily influenced by The Sartorialist, Looktique launched in January 2012. The magazine targets Looktiquers who are interested in the intersection of cutting-edge street wear, runway, and celebrity fashion.

While small and slim in size, Looktique is a valuable resource as it provides the means to know who is who in the Korean fashion industry. The magazine likes to keep words to a minimum and model-off-duty as well as Seoul Fashion Week street style photos make up a large chunk of its contents. In 2012 Looktique released a special edition issue titled "Moon On The Looktique" made up entirely of street style photos from Milan's Pitti Uomo.

Looktiquers do not only gain access to exclusive fashion events through the magazine's pages. The magazine routinely invites readers to locally hosted events such as sample sales and even industry parties!

As always, more photos and info can be found @ the source!
Which of these magazines have you had the pleasure to page through Omona?

I feel like I only know Ceci because of all their celebrity photoshoots lol. Vogue Girl Korea actually has a lot of really good editorials. Hadn't heard of Looktique before now but it looks interesting.

(also RIP FRUiTS ;_;)

I want to say within the last year or so but I'm not sure. They're on instagram now: https://instagram.com/fruitsmag/
I think one of the Gal magazines folded recently too; maybe egg?

I was sad to see Cracker Your Wardrobe was shutting down since I like street fashion and it seemed like a cool mag.
