and i think focusing on vocals in any way for someone like hyuna is just a waste of time and asking the wrong questions. Why does anything other than the performance that you see and hear at the end of it matter, especially for a pop artist?
I know that one post gets spread around here a lot and I'm not going to go into all the details about why I feel it is very, very inaccurately worded and obviously biased - but suffice to say, as someone who has worked with live sound as well as audio production, MRs are not nearly as misleading as that article tries to make them sound. They're flawed, they're distorted, but they're not going to make any of our faves sound off pitch when they're not.
Now, that said, I do agree - no one is coming to Hyuna for vocals so it's a little weird to see people continually bring it up in every live post haha. I mean, it's kind of sad that she never improved significantly over the years but Hyuna is definitely the type of pop artist people go to for her charisma more than her talent (which is fine, there's room for every type of artist).

There absolutely is more to singing than that - but, from a singer; everything you hear in an MR in terms of pitch, breath support, vocal placement, resonance, etc is completely accurate. That post uses accurate information as proof of inaccurate claims, essentially. It's true - the less like the playback a certain part sounds (the worse the singing sound, essentially), the more amplified it will be in the stripped audio because sticking out from the playback significantly makes it easier to separate - however, that is an issue of little more than volume.
MRs are garbled and distorted as with any sort of channel extraction, but they're not going to make someone's pitch or vocal technique sound worse. If someone sounds pitchy, strained and out of breath on an MR, that is how they sounded. The only true assertion from that post is that yes, shitty vocals come out clearer because they are the easiest to extract. The murky, underwater-tin-can sound is about as relevant as white noise.
So the dancers now have better outfits so nobody cared about what Hyuna's gonna wear? And her hair+make-up is a mess. :/ Well, she's got some energy this time. :)

that other song is BEAUTIFUL. i need an english translation. the stage was lovely too. I"m so obsessed with it. also people think she's channeling miley but her stage clothes and hair here remind me more of kylie jenner.
