T-ara's fandom slays One Direction's in a poll, #DirectionersFuneral Trends On Twitter

Never get in between a fandom and their awards.

The claws came out on Twitter on August 12, after fans of the K-pop girl group T-ara advanced to the final round of Billboard's 2015 Fan Army Face-Off.

T-ara's fandom Queens beat out One Direction's fans, known as Directioners, in the voting, and the fans took to Twitter to belittle one another. The hashtag #DirectionersFuneral trended on Twitter for several hours as Queens and Directioners slung insults at one another.

Originally used by Queens to celebrate their win, top tweets in the hashtag belittled Queens and the K-pop genre in general, calling it "kflop" as Directioners took over the trend and began to mock Queens for creating the trend.
Top tweets included allegations of Queens cheating and calling former One Direction member Zayn Malik a terrorist. Screenshots appeared to show alterations related to One Direction appearing on T-ara's Wikipedia page.
An erroneously used picture of Girls' Generation also circulated in the hashtag as Directioners celebrated hijacking the hashtag.

To counter, Queens accused Directioners of being racist towards T-ara and K-pop, and proving K-pop's popularity in comparison with One Direction. (ofc)

Directioners previously accused Queens of cheating prior to the end of voting.
T-ara is the most popular female K-pop act in China and is popular throughout much of Asia even as the group has faced difficulties in South Korea. The group made a comeback with "So Crazy" on August 3.

By 7:30 AM EST on August 13, the hashtag had been included in over 896,000 tweets.
One Direction is one of the world's most popular male acts. The group released "Drag Me Down" on August 4.
Voting in Billboard's 2015 Fan Army Face-Off will end on August 19.

The poll is meaningless? Not to T-ara, the poll can be useless but the votes are something I think is meaningful, since T-ara gets so much hate and receiving that much of votes.

Ugh, I've avoided Tumblr lately because of this. I don't even care which side they are on, but some things said have been so childish and distasteful it's horrifying. I would be so ashamed if I had a kid saying stuff like that.

This whole poll thing seems weird. I don't think ANYONE knew about this poll in the K-pop fandom until just now. If you look back through the preliminary rounds, there were barely any votes for big groups that probably should have been in the finals.

I dont know why Kpop fans indulged Directioners, most of which didn't even know about the poll. These "fans" make 1D's lives a living hell, Zayn included, so idk what anyone expected from them.
