The hot summer heat is past and it's the start of fall, and a comfortable voice will excite people. While not a typical powerful vocalist, her soft tone is more persuasive than powerful.
Having first debuted in Japan, she is coming to Korea as new female vocalist SunMin. She is starting a new journey after three years and with a deeper voice, she expects to complete her first Korean activity.
In 2006, while she was preparing for a career in Korea she instead started a career with Japan's top singer, Toshinobu Kubota in Japan.
Kubota debuted in 1986, received much love for more than twenty years and was considered "an amazing vocalist, one of the best in the country" - SunMin being able to receive such a support from a top artist, performed a duet with him and received a warm reception.
It's the very song of "Keep Holding You" that was featured as the title song for the movie, "Sinking of Japan". It is a song that Korean artist, Shin Hyesung also sang and received praise for it.
Starting out in Japan with more than good conditions, she still had to endure a rigorous training. She's experienced performing a live stage in Japan, and to debut in Japan she had to go through language, vocal, songwriting and composing classes. However, the most hardest part of it all was overcoming her lonely homesickness.
"I was able to perform a grand stage in front of a large-scale theater. Even though it was hard to overcome my homesickness, if I turned back time everything is something I'm so thankful for. I learned so much and experienced so much."
Going to Japan upon graduating high school, she's already released six single albums and one full album she's succeeding. She's been able to be a member for one of Japan's top music programs with popular idol group, KinKi Kids, in the program "Shin Domoto Kyoudai".
She debuted in 2006, during the midst of the Hallyu wave when such Korean stars like BoA and Bae Yongjun among others gained popularity. You could say it was the help of that helped her career, but there is no doubt she managed to maintain her career with her vocal skills and cute image.
From receiving a "love call" from a music PD and associates, she had a party with KinKi Kids and even received a drawing from Tsuyoshi Domoto as a gift. Because of SunMin's warm heart, she sent 200 tablet cards to show her thanks.
"At first, because of the Hallyu wave a lot of Korean stars that came received a lot of love. I was so nervous at first, it was the point I couldn't even talk during a broadcast, but because of all the warm support I got from people, it was a lot of help. I experienced a lot but Kubota helped a lot."
You can feel the happiness she radiates from her new single, "Superwoman". After three years, she's finally performing in her home country. "Everytime I did my Japanese promotions, I missed Korea. I feel that all the hardships I experienced in Japan will be of help in the future. I wish that from my voice, people can feel happiness."

LOVE LOVE LOVE HER. She is so underrated. Her voice is amazing~ ♥ She got overshadowed by Liyin's debut then though, since they both debuted with male/female duets... :( But she did do pretty well in Japan even though her full album took a hella long time to finally release. = ="
And mods, Idk what this should be tagged with. = ="

Date: 2009-10-08 05:37 am (UTC)me too! i think the japanese version has the "soul" in it, while the korean version is more soothing/soft.
