On August 10th, Mark's dad and #1 GOT7 fan posted a tweet showing pictures of Junior and Jackson at the airport en route to Beijing for the NetEase Music Battle Event with their arms in slings, and the caption "Anybody else got injured ? They really should not ask any Kpop member to do this, they may end career because this."


via Soompi: GOT7′s Jr. and Jackson participated in the August 10 filming of the 2015 Idol Star Athletics Championships and have been belatedly revealed to have sustained minor injuries. According to an inside source, they suffered an injury while filming and had to wear casts.

A representative from JYP Entertainment revealed to news outlet My Daily, “Both members suffered bruises. It’s not a serious enough injury for them to need to rest from promotions.”

Meanwhile, GOT7 has departed from Gimpo Airport for overseas schedules. Both Jackson and Jr. were seen wearing casts on their arms when they got on their airplane.

Many idols were injured at MBC‘s Idol Star Athletics Championship, but they are adamant that the show itself is not to blame for the injuries.

Netizens have compiled a list of idols who were injured on the show in one of the top trending posts on Pann. Here is the direct translation of the post and some of the top comments:

MAMAMOO has issued a statement assuring fans on Moonbyul’s injury at the 2015 Idol Star Athletics Championships filming.

On August 10th, MAMAMOO, along with other idol groups, participated in the filming for MBC’s 2015 Idol Star Athletics Championships held at Goyang Stadium, South Korea, participating in athletic events such as track and field, archery and more.

However, as filming commenced, it was reported that member Moonbyul sustained an injury. This led to a statement released by MAMAMOO’s agency stating that, “Moonbyul fell while running and only suffered minor injuries.” It was further revealed that the singer received treatment on site and returned to filming straight away. Moonbyul is described to have participated in the archery event right after.

To appease fans’ worries, Moonbyul also updated their respective SNS accounts with a photo of herself looking bright and cheerful despite the minor bandage on her brow area. It was further posted with a caption saying, “I am fine, please do not worry! Hope you could support me to achieve good results from my archery practice~.”

Idols have incredibly tight AND active schedules. I know some of them enjoy the sports themselves, but the possibility of an injury is just not worth it. This is the second time both Jackson and Junior get injured during this show.

The thing that makes me the most mad is that they were filming the show until 11/12:00 at night, and Jackson/JR then had to pretty much get straight on a plane and perform HOURS after receiving injuries. They didn't even get a full day of recovery. I don't care if they are "just bruises," that's bullshit. And I'm sure other groups have members who got injured and are promoting right now as well.

Idols aren't athletes and even if they were, you can never exclude the possibility of an accident. So many of them arrive there already tired as hell. VIXX went almost straight from the airport to ISAC after a flight straight from the USA. This is just madness.

Idols injured for some dumb tv show, this is such a joke. Never heard of this show but if according to the comments this is a regular thing that happens then I wish somehow the labels would sue them or SOMEONE powerful would put a stop to this. I feel the same about a lot of reality TV shows that get people with no training to do dangerous stunts. At least with some of them it's a choice, doesn't seem to be like that here.

Honestly, making idols, who we all know are overworked and tired compete in athletic events is pretty much asking for trouble.I've had so many faves injure don this show, Tao, Woohyun, etc. Every year someone gets badly hurt from this.Minseok went even though he'd been sick the day before.
