Synopsis:
Set in a fictional imperial dynasty, the story centers around Jo Yangsun (Lee Yoobi), the young daughter of a nobleman who loses everything when her father is framed for a crime. She starts crossdressing in order to sell books to make ends meet, and ends up meeting a handsome and mysterious vampire scholar Kim Sungyeol (Lee Junki). The mystery also includes an evil vampire Gwi (Lee Soohyuk) residing in the palace who is the master puppeteer in the political arena, and will stop at nothing to prevent the Crown Prince Lee Yoon (Shim Changmin) from ascending the throne.

Ngl, my attention goes in and out with this drama. I'm too far along to drop it now, but it's just not keeping my attention the way I thought it would.

it's ridiculous all around (god those -like someone on db said - vampire Roadrunner special effects lmaoooooooo) but the cast is what's saving it. and even with all its faults it's still not bland and boring like joseon gunman where the heroine and second lead dude both had the personalities of boiled potatoes and the only interesting ppl besides jun ki were the second lead and her villain dad. who I believe jun ki is dating now (second lead girl, not the dad!).

i feel like people never give actresses (as in, non-idol rookie actresses) enough credit but lee yoobi's doing pretty well here with a role that would be p much oatmeal in the hands of an inferior actress. i am so into the sungyeol/yangsun scenes too, tho it would be nice if next time they do sth like the tub scene when she's conscious. they have great chemistry either way but i like it better when both people are conscious to be reacting to things.

The last 2 episodes really dragged and lacked logic. Why didn't Sungyeol just save Yangsun and her father from jail then hide their scent from Gwi? I don't see the point of allowing them to be locked up and tortured

hey at least they actually found the damn book and figured out it's not much help. I'd have been so mad if they did a Gu Family Book where they totally forgot all about the, you know, Gu Family Book.

I'm hf Yang-sun telling the prince to get lost too. At least it's a change from her being swoony for Sungyeol/in distress/super cute. And Yoon, I get it you're the prince and cannot be sacrificed, but her dad did die because you sat and let him take the fall even if he was a useless idiot who prevented his and YS's own rescues by Sungyeol first.

Yay for increased Hye-ryung time!

I will be so mad if godawful trash like Night Watchman can book double digits while this (flawed but FAR better story and actors) does not.

lee yoobi has spent so much of this entire show trembling and crying that by the time it got to the parts where her crying should have been effective and emotional, i was long since trained to be bored. it's not her fault, she's doing as best she can with the script, but holy crap.

the supernatural parts of this are pretty entertaining but everything else just drags..

Lee Yoobi...... Her acting ticks are annoying. Did she ever have any formal training because she is in need of it. Junki overacts like his life depends on it too but his face makes it better, Like ive seen idols do a better job. Changmin is doing a better job.
