I would like to announce that, after a discussion with SM Entertainment, have ended my contract with SM and am officially heading separately ways from the company. I cherish the time I've had with SM Entertainment, and wish luck on its future.

And to my dear fans, I thank you for your unchanging support and love. I will do my best to show the fans what they want; please watch as I make a new start. Thank you.

there's speculation that sm allowed her contract to be voided because it may have legally bound them to offer her promotions/activities at some point in the near future, and they didn't want to face the conflict of promoting her and snsd at the same time.

I am surprised how quickly this was resolved, I expected sm to drag it out as much as possible.

But seeing that before the scandal she had resigned with the company with a shorter contract in snsd and solo (much like the others) it was easier to end it.

This makes me believe she was on her way out to begin with but SM didn't want to let it happen on her terms. This transition was way too smooth while other artists are just sitting in the dungeon. Anyways, I hope she finds success beyond SNSD and SM.
