Here's your update on the KHJ media circus.
1. KHJ'S ATTORNEY EXPLAINS THE DAMNING TEXTS BETWEEN KHJ AND CHOI THAT HAVE BEEN RELEASED.
Kim Hyun Joong's legal team has responded to the thousands of texts released to the media on July 31 by his ex-girlfriend, identified only as Choi.
The texts were exchanged between Choi and the "Inspiring Generation" star. But the singer-actor's lawyer, Lee Jae Man, claims that the text messages are not entirely true. Some, he says, are based on outright lies, while some of Kim's other statements are taken out of context, and, as a result, make Kim look bad.
According to statements made by Lee Jae Man reported in Nate News, the pregnancy, abuse and miscarriage claims are made up.
He also said that the text messages were framed in a way that is not flattering to Kim Hyun Joong. To understand the comments they really have to be seen in the context of the entire conversation.
Some comments, Lee said, were also made in a joking way, based on jokes previously shared during the former couple's relationship. According to Lee, Kim Hyun Joong did not say them in an insulting way.
"This conversation is very common for a couple," said Lee. "Rationally judging this conversation will make it seem much better, but interpreting it in the bad way can make several people go down."
A few text messages, he alleges, were about someone else.
Choi also claimed that Kim Hyun Joong assaulted her when she and a friend found him in bed with a naked female celebrity.
Lee said that although Choi knew the key code to Kim's house, on that day she found the door locked and broke in. Kim only pushed her out, so that should not be considered abuse.
Choi has denied that she altered the contents of her text messages.
"There's word that I messed with the original content but they are recoveries from my previous cell phone. It has been authenticated and is presentable for court."
An exclusive report was released stating that allegedly,Kim Hyun Joongwill take legal action against all the netizens that have been leaving hate comments.
Kim Hyun Joong's legal representativeLee Jae MantoldStar Newstoday, "We have discovered people continuously and repeatedly leaving hate comments on this issue (the ongoing legal dispute between Ms. Choi and Kim Hyun Joong). Soon we plan to take legal action."
According to Lee Jae Man, some netizens have been leaving hate comments towards Kim Hyun Joong using the same online ID. Lee stated, "We will take forcible action [against those who continue to leave hate comments]."
Meanwhile, prosecution has banned Ms. Choi from leaving the Korea.
Cheongpa Law Firm, which is currently Kim Hyun Joong's legal representative, stated, "Ms. Choi is suspected of extortion, false accusations, fraud, and defamation. Due to her suspected crimes, a severe punishment is predicted to be imposed on Ms. Choi, whom prosecution has prohibited from leaving the country." According to a rep from prosecution, an investigator imposes a travel ban prior to arrest for criminal charges that have been examined and are expected to result in harsh punishment. A travel ban on a typical criminal case is rare.
Kim Hyun Joon has already been investigated as a plaintiff, whereas investigation on Ms. Choi was postponed and has yet to take place.
3. KHJ'S FATHER CLAIMS FAMILY, WHICH HASN'T LEFT THE HOUSE SINCE APRIL 2014, IS SUICIDAL.
South Korean actor Kim Hyun Joong's father recently opened up about his son's ongoing legal battle with ex-girlfriend Miss Choi.
He revealed that the family is going through a hard time ever since the 29-year-old's former lover filed an abuse case against him.
"I'm revealing this for the first time now, but because of Hyun Joong's abuse incident last year and then the pregnancy incident, we couldn't raise our faces. We haven't gone outside even once until April. We lived with one candle lit outside our house. I thought something would go wrong at that rate," he said in an interview with "Entertainment Relay", a program telecast on Korean channel KBS2.
He also revealed that the celeb's mother was really worried about him and even talked about committing suicide.
He said she wrote a letter to the actor explaining her concerns for him that read: "You came here because I didn't take proper care of you. I am largely at fault. I will leave this world first so you live on."
"I was so mad that I ripped it all. I thought, if my wife died and my child died, how could I live? I convinced her out of it. Aside from revealing what's the truth or not, I am thankful that we are alive, that we did not end up holding funerals even though we were at risk of suicide."
