2AM’s Changmin Expected to Move on From JYP to Big Hit Entertainment

Earlier today there was a report that 2AM member Changmin will be signing an exclusive contract with Big Hit Entertainment now that his contract with JYP Entertainment has ended.

According to the report by Star News, Changmin’s contract with JYP ended last month, July 10, after seven years with the agency and he has decided not to renew his contract. Instead, he will be signing with Big Hit Entertainment, home to idol boy group BTS, which has previously managed Changmin while he was under JYP.

A new report has come out, however, that clarifies that Changmin is still in talks with Big Hit and nothing official has been decided yet.

Earlier this year, the 2AM members decided to go their separate ways in terms of agencies with Jinwoon signing with Mystic89, Seulong signing with Sidus HQ, and Jo Kwon staying with JYP.

I don't really know much about 2AM, but does Jo Kwon staying at JYP mean he can slay me with more solo releases?

This was my first thought as well. I love Jo Kwon. Animal was a masterpiece.

I hope BigHit does well for Changmin.

But his solo album was produced under BigHit though. I am more afraid that JYPE won't know what to do with him... right now it seems like he is mainly doing musicals.

Jo Kwon can pretty much do whatever he wants when he's ready to release something, just like Yenny did. JYP pretty much gives them free reign

Yes, although 2AM (is) was under JYPE, they were managed by BigHit.

They haven't "officially" disbanded (and JYP/Jinwoon/Seulong insist they haven't) but a lot of people interpreted Jinwoon and Seulong leaving JYPE for other companies as such so depends how you think of it :o
