Yet another Korean make-up review!
I tried to resist the siren song of Etude House, but the pull was too strong. So, this is primarily Etude... my apologies.

I couldn't resist Etude House even though I said I'd try. ㅠㅠ I found out they ship internationally now and, at the time, they had free shipping if you spent $50. I couldn't resist!

Color In Liquid Lips

I'm always attracted to Etude's cute packaging, so this caught my eye. Not quite a tint, not quite a gloss. I'd say it's somewhere in between. The color was great and not my usual choice. The consistency of the liquid is somewhat thick. I definitely had to blot so it was how I wanted, but it's not unreasonable. I like it!

You can find it here (I got #14 BE102)

Proof 10 Eye Primer

I had high hopes for this because the reviews on Etude's site were pretty good. It has not disappointed! It's still not a product I use regularly, but it does what it's supposed to. In general my problem is that eye shadow wears off fairly quickly. I noticed, though, when I used the primer that it took longer. Eyeliner seems to keep on better as well. A worthwhile product!

Peach Punch Sweet Foam Cleaner (Tony Moly)

This is a pretty basic cleanser here. It has a fairly strong smell of peach (bit more like peach iced tea). At first I had a problem with it because I felt like my eyes were really sensitive to it. Now that I've been using it for awhile I don't find I have that problem as much anymore. I actually had a similar problem with Trader Joe's tea tree oil products (i.e. shampoo, cleanser), but after I got used to them it wasn't an issue. So I guess there's an adjustment period. It's a decent product, but I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to get it again.

Soft Clay Pack

I don't usually use packs, but I decided to try this one. The consistency isn't very thick or anything. Honestly, I don't worry tons about my pores. Maybe it's because I don't pay attention to that sort of thing. Anyway, I've used this a few times since I bought it. I'm not 100% sure how it affects my pores or anything, but my skin feels pretty smooth afterwards. Other reviews I've seen seem to like it, so I'll keep using it!

Sunshine In Spoon S.M.Y. Sugar Apple

This is a very gentle scrub as described on the site. The scrub granules are pretty small and the lotion (yogurt?) is fairly thin. You don't need a lot when you use it. I actually used 1 pack 2-3 times because you don't really need the whole thing in one go. It's a nice scrub you can use about once a week for a sort of in-home spa treatment.

Moonlight in a Spoon Blended Sleeping Cream

I always wanted to try these sleeping pack things. I don't know why. It just looked... interesting? I ended up buying Evening Primrose and Seaweed. I've only tried the Primrose at this point, and I guess I don't know what to say. Maybe I should have inspected my skin more closely. I thought my skin felt smooth and moisturized. Other than that, though, I'm not sure what to say. People on the site really like it, and I enjoyed the concept/packaging.

My Beauty Tool Brush - My 140 Powder

I'm pretty bad with my brushes. I know I should take better care of them. So I bought this little guy. It's soooo soft! And I noticed after I started using it that it holds powder so much better than my (very) old one. Gotta take care of this one!

Pocket Bunny Perfume Bar (Tony Moly)
I love perfume bars. They are so convenient! You can keep it at home, in your desk, in your bag, or take it on a trip. I loved the first one I bought from Tony Moly, but they don't make that scent anymore (*sadface*). I decided to go with this one instead (#3 Bloom Bunny). The scent is nice! It's very fresh and clean, like laundry you just took out of the dryer.

Pocket Bunny Sleek Mist (Tony Moly)

These pocket mists are meant to give your skin a little extra boost during the day. The Pocket Bunny line has one for dry and oily skin types. I went for the "sleek mist" since I have oily skin. I think I would've used this more if I still was in Korea. Just based on where I am now and how much time I'm indoors I don't use this as much. If I was a bit more outdoors-y (or maybe if my work environment was more dry) I'd use it more. Also, I could do without it having a scent. It's not a bad scent, but I'd rather just do without. But it does the job and works fine for me.

Proof 10 Gelquid Liner

I'm always jealous of my friends who can do a really nice job with their eyeliner. So I like to try out different kinds to see if I can get it down. So I went with this waterproof gel liner. It's a cross between a gel and a liquid liner (hence the name). I like it because I feel like I can get a fairly decent line with it. The color is a very dark brown, almost a black. If you have a steady hand you can get a fairly decent line with it. I still need practice, but even I can make a nice wing using this liner.

Open Your Eyes set

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

These are some lovely colors. Admittedly the Etude eyeshadows aren't always long-lasting. I did, however, have more success when using the eye primer.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

The Curl Fix mascara was way more effective then I imagined. That stuff does not wanna come off! I wore it when I was working out. I wore it in the shower. Even then it did not wanna all come off. That is it's strength but also it's downfall. When I want make-up off, I want it off. This was so resistant. I used eye make-up remover and cleaner, and those didn't take it off 100%. I guess they sell a mascara remover, but I haven't bought it. I feel like I shouldn't have to buy a specific product to take it off. So if you're looking for a long-lasting mascara this one is awesome! But beware --- it gets very attached to you.

Bling Bling Eye Stick

What a neat little product! This is perfect for no-fuss sort of people. It's also great to carry around because it's so light and easy to apply. I bought a neutral color. It applies well and has plenty of sparkle. Like many Etude eye shadows the color fades after awhile, so you should reapply it. It's not a huge issue for me, but maybe that's because I'm not too fussy. I'd like to try other colors since they one I got was pretty neutral.

Play 101 Pencil

Ah the Play 101 pencils. So colorful. So creamy. I love 'em! It's really different from the sort of liners I usually use. I do have to re-apply them every so often, but not anything that I'm not used to. They go on so smooth, and I can't get over all the color options. I think they can be a really nice addition to anyone's make-up routine.

while we're on the topic of tony moly, DO NOT BUY THEIR BCDATION. unless you're super pale to begin with and want that next-level dewy shit.

my face looked like it could reflect things

and I have a fair skin tone though not that white.

I LOVE BCDATION THOUGH CAUSE IT LASTS FOR SO LONG ;A;

i just bought some tony moly lip tints for a friend, hope she will like them. my sis got the hand cream in the apple package and loved it, so i think i'll slowly buy all cute tony moly for all my friends and family one by one. we're not the princess types, so etude house is a bit scary with all the pink, however i did buy one of the any cushions. unfortunately the color was too light (funny cause in western cosmetics i sometimes struggle to find something that is light enough), maybe for winter it's going to be good. the formula seems really nice.

from korean brands i'm on the laneige water bank line, very hydrating, i like it. not sure if i'll repurchase it, i have way too many others to try at this point.

i did a small eye cream haul post on the previous ffa, feel like cross-posting... the conclusion was that the face shop heaven grade ginseng and skinfood 10 solutions eye creams were great value (and stay away from the chia seed face shop one.)

edit: some typos fixed + thumbs up for etude house's moistfull line, it's good stuff.

I like the moistful line too. I'm using the aloe mist and collagen under eye stick. The only problem is that using the stick stretches the skin under your eyes. I've been trying to think of what to use as a non-skin stretching applicator for the stick. Any suggestions?

I didn't see your FFA post (I don't go on FFA... :( ) but have you tried Mizon's Snail Eye Cream yet? This is only my second eye cream product, cuz I'm 23 and I realize I really need to invest on one lol so my first was Nature Republic's The First Eye Cream and that did not do anything to my eyes lol. The one I'm using rn I'm noticing is brightening my eyes a lot and I look more awake even tho I just had like, 3-5 hours of sleep lol. It's been rec'ed by a lot of people from the Asian Beauty subreddit so I figured I'd go give it a try. But maybe you find other products better than that? Cuz I do want to try more products before settling on one 5ever lol

I looooove the proof10 eye primer! It works really well on my eye-makeup so its stay in place (on rare times it stays like a bitch bc its kinda hard to remove)

But errrr outside of that most of korean eye makeup really turns me off since it doesnt pigmented enough and just really weak for me:( i'd rather spend more on western high-end brand for eye makeup tbh

etude house is so annoying because they keep releasing cute shit that tempts me to spend more money than i should. i'm actually wearing the curl fix mascara right now lol and the curl-holding power is truly amazing.

also, i've been telling everyone i know this but innisfree's super volcanic mousse clay mask (something like that) is from the gods. i haven't looked at the ingredients closely yet but the effects are fantastic. it seriously reduces the appearance of pores and makes your skin feel smooth (in my experience). definitely recommend this for those with oily skin and large pores.

OP U ND I HAVE THE SAME TASTES!!!!

I hate Etude House I spent half my earnings on goddamn beautifuru packaging that I don't even know if I still need!!!

We have that same liquid lips too, but I'm finding that it's too pink for my super brown skin so I use it as a blusher now (and it seems to last longer that way esp when I set it with powder blush--something I learned from Kween Pony)

I have a bling bling stick too, but I think my color is Golden Tail Star, which is like a light yellow gold. I use it primarily for the inner corners of my eyes more than actual eyeshadow, and especially over properly primed eyes, they last long with me which is impressive especially cuz I live in a tropical country lolz

Also Play Pencils U G H. I have a lot of them now, but my favorites have been #9, #49, #37, #11. #9 is a gr9 concealer for me, #49 is possibly the best brown eyeliner I can ever hope for, #37 is my fave color lol I use it under my eyes when I'm feeling super exciting for that pop of color lmao and #11 as an alternate blush color cuz that shit does not come off under sweat and heat too lol. I have that #19 shade too, but man, it's too matte for my lips that it almost crusts up and dries on my lips and it is N A G L. lol Super matte pencils are just not for me I guess :(

I know Etude House likes reusing/reusing + adding glitter to most of their newer collections but fr if I want to learn about cute kawaii packaging I'd honestly just stare at their products the whole day. I have so much repetitive stuff from them it's insane. :( I hate them lol. Also their new model is so pretty I can't stop staring at her. *___*

My dream one day is to draw so hard that Etude House will notice me and get me to draw for their collections like Kerrie Hess and Anika Wester. T__T

----

That said I don't really have any new Korean product faves lately cuz Bling Me Prism isn't here nor is their Swan collection S M H but I'm still in love with the Wonder Pore Toner and Mizon's Snail Eye Cream. That shit is like magic fr.

I also bought Face Blur but it doesn't blur me at all :( It just brightens up my skin and I should really stop using it on its own cuz it doesn't have any SPF and I can't really be assed to put sunscreen on my face everytime I go out lol.

My actual new makeup/beauty faves this month is the Nyx Soft Matte Lip Cream in Abu Dhabi and Copenhagen. I also bought the Naked 3 and I'm dying they're all so good...

Oh wow this has been a super lengthy post OTL I'm sorry lol Makeup/beauty is just so enthralling especially when packaged nicely lol

i have the soft matte lip creams too but somehow they don't fully dry on my lips?

Don't buy etude swan highligher. It has a godo lasting power but the applicator is awful (too big for using it on lower eyelids) and it's easy to cross the thin line between insivible and too much. It's full of glitter, I prefer the apieu one that is more shimmery (even tho applicator also sucks but is still better than etude one).
Also i just want to add I don't try to fake aegyo sal, I use them to bright up my eyes and make them more visible behind my glasses. I stopped using things on my water line because it's bad for you and these highlighters are good enough.

i got the tonymoly pocket bunny perfum bar 2 days ago, however the smell of mine (baby powder) is a bit too strong for my sensitive nose. it smells like... idk, your grandma's perfum?

btw if you want to order something online, dont buy from the offical sites. the shipping fee from innisfree for example is ridiculous. almost 12 bucks for only 3 items, nhft. i always order from beautynetkorea or jolse_cosmetics and most of the time the shipping is free and you get samples as well. plus their items are authentic and not fake.

I've given etude house many chances but I've yet to find a skincare product by them that doesn't make me break out in rashes. Tony Moly is great if you want something cheap I guess?

I use the face shop's calming seed and arsainte lines if I'm using korean skin care. I have this peach crumble lip color by aritaum that's really good??? & Nature Republic's masks are amazing!! I like their eyebrow pencils too. $3 in the NYC shop and it matches me perfectly

Usually I stick to Missha (their BB cream <3 ) and Japanese brands (shiseido, kose etc)

I was really, really tempted to get the Swan Lake/ballet line Etude House released recently, but I feel too old to buy their products. ToT I'm pretty basic w my makeup, since I work at a cafe and always end up sweating off half of what I put on a few hours into my shifts. Clio's eyeliner is probably the only holy grail item I have, though - it's incredible and long lasting even though I live in super humid Florida and have super oily skin. I also really like Peripera's puff blushes and Missha's new bb cream cushion, as well as Innisfree's skinny lash mascara.

Mists are kind of new for me, but Whamisa's organic olive mist has been a great introduction. It's hydrating, doesn't mess up my makeup, and smells incredible. (I bought my sister the damask rose version since she works 12+ hr shifts at a hospital, and she's already asked me to get her two more, so I highly recommend that, too!)

Sadly, as much as I love my Banila oil balm and cc melting foundation, I'm not so happy with the prime primer now that it's summer. My face actually looks worse when I use that, very spotty and patchy with some sections of my face turning into an oil slick and others so dry they're actually flaking.

As far as products I want to try - I've heard really good things about Skinfood's salmon dark circle concealer and Sulwhasoo's bb cream cushion.

It seems from the comments, a few of you get make up when you're in Korea.
My cousin-in-law is going to Korea soon and I would LOVE for her to pick up some makeup/skincare for me.
How much money should I give her? It seems like the products will be cheaper there but I don't want to give her $100 and find that she could only buy me an eye liner and a face mask.

What are things that I NEED to have?

Thanks!

I think it really depends on what you want out of your makeup/skincare, tbh. Etude House and Nature Republic are lower end cosmetic companies, so you'll be able to get more for cheaper there, while brands like Iope, Hera, and Sulwhasoo are a lot more expensive. It might also help if you have specific products in mind, or at least specific kind of products. Are you interested in sheet/hydrogel/silk masks, or do you want a complete makeup haul?

I recently spent $$$ at Etude. I now have 4 of their play 101 pencils. I love all of them and not to mention they are very very cheap! I never use eye primer before and I'm currently using Etude's. All of these products I mentioned delivers.

There's a particular turqoise eyeliner I've been wanting to get from Urban Decay but it is so damn expensive. I'm glad Etude has a similar colour. And it work pretty much the same as UD's!
