Article: 'We Want to Know the Truth' Police, "There were no videos of sexual abuse in the confiscated videos"

Source: TV Report via Nate

1. [+538, -19] I feel so empty and ridiculous... the family used the interest of the people in a manipulative way.. I feel so stupid for believing in the mother and her sons.

2. [+506, -17] I laughed so hard when the man in the neighborhood said everyone in the town are sex crazed ㅋㅋㅋ anyway, the mother needs to check in to a mental hospital and get ready to be counter sued

3. [+419, -65] All of the netizens who supported her are probably kicking their blankets in bed feeling so stupid ㅋㅋㅋ idiots blaming the government for covering something up blah blah blah

4. [+68, -2] Such a good TV show... if this TV show never investigated it, we'd all still be fooled by the family

5. [+68, -2] So hilarious when the mother and her sons started talking thinking the producers turned off their mics ㅋㅋㅋ is this a sitcom?

6. [+57, -2] First of all, I'm glad that the entire scandal was a lie. She's the most historically insane b*tch I've ever seen in my life. She's going to be exiled from life with all of the counter suing she'll have to endure.

7. [+55, -4] I never believed it to begin with. Stupid women sharing the story on Facebook and spamming articles saying don't forget about the scandal, etc... I laughed so hard when they were blaming the media and the police for being corrupted ㅋㅋ what a comedy... the mother and her sons started talking about their plan to lie as soon as the mics and cameras were "off" ㅋㅋㅋ then they grab some random ajusshi off the street and beg him, "Don't you know me? We had sex, you raped us" ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

8. [+55, -3] This scandal showed how gullible the public is ㅋㅋ now I bet people will start screaming conspiracy

9. [+45, -0] I laughed so hard when the mother grabbed a random ajusshi and said, "Hello ^^~~~ you had sex with me~~!"

10. [+44, -0] Poor random ajusshi, all he wanted was to catch some air on a walk but he got grabbed and accused of being a rapist...

11. [+44, -0] I'm so glad I didn't join in on this

Source: Nate

1. [+845, -33] I got goosebumps when they thought the mic was off but it was actually on

2. [+777, -28] Poor random ajusshi who got accused of being a rapist... the biggest victim of today's broadcast

3. [+688, -32] Wow, I can't believe this... since when was I so dumb and gullible to fall for something like this... The mother's interview.. and the kids' interviews.. made me feel so pathetic.

4. [+149, -3] The producers were so smart to say they're taking a 5 minute break but actually leave the cameras and mics on.

5. [+129, -2] What we need to learn from this scandal and Kim Hyun Joong's scandal: we shouldn't sway to one side without objective evidence and official statements

6. [+90, -5] How could the mother use her own kids to scam people like this... I believed her without a doubt for the sake of the kids. This is ridiculous.

7. [+82, -3] I feel so betrayed

8. [+76, -3] The brothers when they were talking thinking the mic was off gave me goosebumps... I'm so scared

Source: Nate [2] [3]

1. [+12, -3] Where'd all the idiots who wanted to save them go?" ㅋㅋ I always thought the mother was insane when I first saw the post and didn't even believe it. They even got the news to copy and paste what netizens were saying because netizens were making such a fuss over it. I was right, why would anyone believe this ridiculous scandal. Everyone who believed this is an idiot.

2. [+7, -3] So funny when they were whispering to themselves thinking the cameras were off but they discovered it and got shocked

3. [+7, -1] So easy to rile people up... ^^

4. [+24, -3] Such a big turn of events.....

5. [+9, -2] Wow, the mother and her sons basically put on a show to get some money... they scammed the entire country. They need to open a press conference and apologize to the entire country.

6. [+8, -1] And to think people were reporting this to broadcast channels in other countries ㅡㅡ such an embarrassment to Korea;;; I'm so embarrassed

7. [+6, -1] We all got scammed ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

8. [+5, -1] So basically they lied about everything... they were being scammed by a shaman who was trying to steal their wealth and controlling them into doing crazy things. And the mother is some possessed psycho. And the kids were all lying too.

9. [+9, -1] I think we're all too shocked to say anything right now

10. [+9, -1] So they lied to everyone because they were afraid that all their other lies would be revealed... We were all completely fooled... and the kids were way too confident for being sexually abused, it made me suspicious... goosebumps

11. [+7, -1] Poor women who translated everything for CNN and made cafes and talked shit about the government and the police

Pann: Netizens need to reflect long and hard with this scandal

1. [+72, -55] Women really have no excuse when people say they're gullible to being riled up now ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ

2. [+70, -11] Such a ridiculous scandal. I really hated it whe people put down women for being irresponsible after getting riled up about something but the exact same thing just happened.

3. [+69, -4] Who actually even believed in it? It made no sense at all. It obviously felt like the posts were made to rile everyone up and everyone on Pann were moving like a beehive and hating on anyone who refused to believe it ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ I bet some still believe in it even after this TV show

4. [+42, -28] You can't hate on netizens for this... all they tried to do was save someone and everyone had good intentions. It's the mother who's bad for using everyone.

Source: Pann [2]

1. [+150, -12] We were all scammed ㅋㅋㅋ

2. [+140, -12] Successfully scammed the entire country

3. [+47, -30] Why are people hating on the netizens who supported them;; Of course everyone believed it to be true because there's a chance that it could be. There's no reason to hate.

4. [+34, -2] Totally shocking turn of events.. the show's not even over yet and I have goosebumps.. I was fooled and totally worried and went to all of the portal sites to support them...

5. [+32, -3] I bet the shaman who manipulated them enjoys Japanese porn ㅋㅋㅋ

I don't believe this video at all nor do I believe this is a scam.

But they finally managed to accuse her of being crazy/A gold digger, all according to the usual scenario when a woman accuses a man of a sexual crime.

bla, that was expected (not to the extent of having a whole fake documentary, but those accusations by the medias were expected).

Now I'll finally make a real effort to reach the contacts I got in the int'l medias, welp...

it was really, really upsetting to me how quickly i saw people turn on lee jung hee yesterday when this came out - people jumping in and saying automatically that you never believed it or "knew it" or felt something was "fishy" to begin with - when this video is pretty fishy in itself. i've seen some people point out that the kids in the video look way older than the kids from the original video / the woman looks shorter as well?

anyway, are people forgetting that the husband in question has a LOT of pull with government? and that the government in korea has A LOT of pull in the media? the south korean government is totally aware that this story spread around and garnered as much attention as it did internationally and just as aware that it's making them looking bad. of course they're going to want to cover it up? it's just "????" to me that people are deciding to believe a "documentary" presented by the media when it very obviously could have been biased as lee jung hee or it could have been monitored in the production process closely by the husband himself or people who work close to him. this is a prime example of people turning on a victim / choosing to believe that they lied rather than that things like this actually happen in the world.

i have a korean friend who i showed the first post that started to circulate around internationally (on tumblr) and she watched the video and said it was blowing her mind that people were equating expressing nervousness to lying, ect., and also said that it very easily could be manipulated or fake. is there a chance it could be a lie? anything's possible but there's just as much of a chance that this could be a way to get the people supporting lee jung hee to turn on her / for them to bury the story and HER which is a terrifying thought.

tl;dr. this is just really heating me up because, yeah, if it is fake it'll make people who come forth to report abuse be taken even less seriously there but it also proves further how easily people are willing to give up on someone.

i didn't even see the original video, but my first thought was how having their entire heads and the top part of their bodies blurred out and their voices slightly distorted, whoever filmed this could've pretty much gotten anyone to pose as the woman and her sons.

For real though: at this point they narrative should have been changed to her being a sex offender by the looks of how things are going.

This seems rather fishy, to be honest. I'm still inclined to believe LJH, because this video was published at a rather interesting time, the time after LJH got separated from her sons and all three of them are basically locked up. And it did something very effectively: killing almost every support LJH and her sons received from the public and burying her and her son's credibility. It also doesn't explain why all of her articles got deleted but this one - this negative one - of course stays.

If her story's true, than the powerful men behind it sure know how to play the public.

most korean pastors weren't pastors for their whole lives, korean christianity (the protestant side, the catholic side is okay) is highly corrupted and fucked up in that most people who are already rich by other means become a pastor and find ways to reap more money from the gullible believers. but that should be a separate topic from the sexual violence.

idk, "We Want to Know" is a highly credible program, they've gone through a lot of shit uncovering some stuff, and i know the producers have received threats on multiple occasions trying to get the truth out ex sewol ferry, hwang woo suk's stem cell scandal etc. so i doubt they would twist things around.
pyo chang won, who's like korea's top crimonologist, was on this show and he says that these guys definitely were abused by his father, but it wasn't sexual.
i think this episode is a 2-parter, so we'll see what more they want to show next week.

This is interesting. So everyone is turning against them even though professionals are saying they were abused? This backlash just got even more ridiculous.

I feel like a conspiracy because this video doesn't do anything but reaffirm my stance that the narrative is being changed and corrupted to make her seem crazy and discreditable. Also, still nothing on my most important original question: are they American?

That being said nothing more can be done if no rape kit is used to prove the abuse nor if LJH won't cooperate. Hopefully no matter what her and her sons still get help for whatever mental health problems they have and can eventually live happily together.

Anyways this was a wild ride, and it's sad to see how quick people turned against them. This will probably negate the plight of other rape victims.

idk, i'm more inclined to believe lee junghee even with this report.
i read this reddit (http://www.reddit.com/r/conspiracy/comments/1cm0t3/original_research_the_mountain_of_evidence_for_a/) about the extent which people in power go to cover up child abuse, about a week before the ljh story first came up in english. so much about her story and how people in power are involved (government, religion, etc) and how they're trying to cover it up... well it reminded me of what i had read in that reddit and it makes me more inclined to believe her. it's so easy to paint victims as crazy or money hungry liars....

(the reddit includes factual and somewhat graphic discussions of child abuse, but it's a very interesting/eye-opening read if you can stomach it)

And the gestures don't look natural.
If this video it only makes me more worried.

But you know what? I kind of want to all this be a lie because it would mean that there isn't a family who didn't go through all the things they told.

the sad part is that even with all these new reveals: the husband still is very rich, the husband still lost custody, there is still proof that he was abusive (just not sexually), the paternal grandfather has 20+ rape cases (but has never been convicted), and all their relatives are apart of a sketchy church.

At most, she really does have a mental illness and exaggerated the bad situation her and her sons are currently in.

It was a good thing that I read the comments right after. I was in utter disbelief reading about how Lee Jung Hee's case was a scam. I was about to cry bloody murder and all, but good thing I read the comments here.

If Lee Jung Hee's husband and family is as powerful as she claims to be, and has government and media connections, it's not that far-fetched that this documentary was a result of them trying to bury case and discredit Lee Jung Hee and her sons. As one of the commentators here said, how easy is it for them to look for people who are of the same build as the mother and sons, blur their faces up, and have them pose as them? I mean, their articles were constantly deleted. From what I read, nothing in the documentary explains why that happened.

This so called documentary can easily sway those people who would rather believe that such a thing was a scam than face the truth that something atrocious and despicable actually happened in their country, and that powerful people are doing their damn best to hush and cover it all up. And yes, it is horrible how some people can easily turn against Lee Jung Hee after this.

If anything this convinces me more that the kids are emotionally unstable. I remember being extremely antsy like the kid in the black shirt when I was being questioned about my abuser. I remember freaking out about coming off as delusional or suspicious every time I had to repeat the events that happened. It was so hard to keep track of everything that I was afraid I could've repeated the story wrong and come off suspicious for saying something different or incorrect with what I had been stating.

I don't think this is a scam, and unless I hear the family say it flat out, I'm convinced the media is manipulating the victims as the enemy.
