Sehun and Chanyeol for Ceci (August '15)

CECI: We heard that you are said to be best buddies among the EXO members.
Chanyeol: We are? (CECI: Are you not? Do you remember when you first met?)
Chanyeol: When I first met Sehun, he was short and a baby so I remember thinking “He’s so cute, he’s a baby.”
Sehun: Chanyeol hyung kind of had a ‘nallari’ (t/n: player, delinquent, an image of someone who doesn’t study well and always plays around) image but I still liked him. (Laughs) I just had that feeling since the first time I met him.

CECI: Is there a reason that among the members, the two of you in particular got close to each other?
Chanyeol: We two entered the company at around the same time. There was a 2 month gap between the period we entered so we were close since our trainee days.
Sehun: I’m his senior. I came in three months earlier. (Laughs)
Chanyeol: Yes, that’s why I hung out with ‘Sehun senior’ a lot. Since the road to our houses is also similar we also rode the bus and subway together. Actually among the trainees, the hyungs and dongsengs were separated into different groups and since we were both in the dongseng group I think that’s why we hung out together more.
CECI: But still, isn’t there something in particular that makes you two connect?
Sehun: Chanyeol has really good social skills. Of course I am the same. That’s why all of our EXO members are close to each other. Even if we’re alone with anyone [in the group], it’s not awkward at all.
Chanyeol: Hmm… Especially I think the way we play is really similar. Since we both usually like meeting people too. (CECI: How do you two play?)
Sehun: We play house at the playground. (Laughs)

CECI: Are there times that you think ‘We fit really well’?
Chanyeol: When it’s not awkward even when we both are still and not doing anything. (CECI: Even if you two aren’t saying anything?) Yes, even then it’s not awkward.
Sehun: It’s not awkward. (CECI: It’s not good either?) Right, it’s not that good either.
Chanyeol: I feel the same. (Laughs)

CECI: I think there must be times you feel jealous of each other too.
Chanyeol: Sehun is skinny but his shoulders are broad. I’m a bit jealous of that. I have to try hard to barely achieve that, but Sehun was already born with that bone structure. I’m really jealous.
Sehun: There are so many of hyung’s strong points that I’m jealous of… (CECI:Are there not any, by any chance?) Hyung has a nice voice. Sometimes I wish my voice was nice like hyung’s too. (CECI: That’s something you can’t change though.) That’s why I’m more jealous.

CECI: What do the other members say, when they see your relationship?
Chanyeol: Actually we’re close to the other members too. I hang around with Kyungsoo at times and also hang around with Jongin at times too. And also hang around with Sehun too. So that’s why they don’t particularly say anything about it. We all get along equally.
Sehun: I think hyung ‘manages his fishing ground’ a bit. (t/n: this saying is used in the dating scene, meaning “leading someone on” or “playing around”)
Chanyeol: Yes, I’m the type that does that a bit. (Laughs)

CECI: Since you two are so close, I think you must know each others’ secrets well too. Let’s friendly say some one by one.
Chanyeol: Sehun’s talking skills are really good. Many people don’t know well because he doesn’t speak much in broadcasts but in reality he’s amazing. Plus he has a good sense. I feel like with a bit of time, he will see the light. Considering only humor, he’s so fun to the point that he’s in the lead among the members.

CECI: Then what is Chanyeol’s secret that you, Sehun, will reveal?
Sehun: Surprisingly, there’s a ‘hyung’-like (t/n: like an older brother) side of him. Should I say he plays the hyung role well? He has an image as being extremely thrifty but surprisingly he spends a lot of money. Normally he buys stuff for the members a lot too. (Chanyeol: But I don’t really show that off that much.) He’s really that style. Should I say he’s a guy that knows how to spend [well]?
(CECI: Do you think you have to spend on them because you’re older?)
Chanyeol: I just don’t see spending money on the members as wasteful at all.
Sehun: Sometimes when I see hyung spending so much on us, I think ‘is his sense of finances/economy slowly diminishing?’

CECI: The topic of today’s photoshoot was ‘Last Summer’. If you had to pick one memorable summer among the many summers you’ve experienced so far, when would it be?
Chanyeol: I don’t have a particular memory of going somewhere on vacation during summer. Ah! I recently went to the Jungle right. I literally experienced summer at its peak. Although I went through some hardships with temperatures over 40 degrees, it was a fun experience.
Sehun: Was it 2~3 years ago. When it hasn’t even been a year since EXO debuted, there was a time the EXO-K members went to the Eurwangni Beach. Because we had a schedule the next day we couldn’t go far, so we took a one-day trip and played while eating clams and giving the seagulls shrimp snacks. I still have the pictures we took that day on my wallet.

CECI: Let’s talk about your activities. Chanyeol is acting in addition to being in EXO. Were you usually interested in acting?
Chanyeol: I did take acting lessons when I was younger. After debuting in EXO, I was so thankfully given the opportunity to act and to participate in such a good piece [movie]. (CECI: Then among music and acting, what’s the taste of each of them?) With acting, it’s that I’m able to live a completely different life as the one I’ve been living until now, and with music it’s that I can apply the things that I’ve lived until now.
CECI: As for Sehun, it was really hard to meet you outside of EXO’s activities. What are your planned activities for the future?
Sehun: There are many things I want to do, but I’m waiting for the proper moment. If I’m gonna do it anyways, I wanna do it well so I want to wait until that moment and show you with a “Bang”. (CECI: In what areas?) I want to try acting. Also since I like photoshoot filmings, I think I will focus on these two areas.

CECI: Already half of 2015 has passed. If you were to rate your personal activities for the first half of the year, what score would you give yourself?
Chanyeol: 10 points. I think I’m neatly piling up the things I’ve planned to do this year. I worked hard on both my music and acting to the point that I’m pleased with myself.
Sehun: I give myself a 5. However I think it will be a 10 by the time this year ends. I’m not completely sure but that’s how I feel. Since there’s still half [a year] left, I think there will be many spaces to fill in between.

CECI: Then how will you spend the remaining second half of the year?
Sehun: First of all, I have a world tour planned. Personally, if I’m given a good opportunity I think I’ll be able to start a new activity. (CECI: We want to meet you more from now on.) Since now Chanyeol hyung is showing a lot in a variety of programs, once [they’re] tired of him I want to go be the next one up. Isn’t this what’s good about having many members?
Chanyeol: I’m working hard by cleaning up the road ahead of him. (Laughs) I want to show results from now on. If I have been stacking up and training up until now, I think it is time to show [them] now. As promised in the past, I’m also almost done with the ‘Youngstreet’ logo song so I will gradually show you what I’ve been working hard on from now on.

It's so cute when idols talk about their trainee/pre-debut days together, I love hearing little anecdotes about how life was for them back then. (i.e. Sehun getting food for f(x), Kai not liking Kyungsoo when he first met him, Jonghyun making sure Taemin got home safe after late night practices, etc.)
