2NE1’s Dara Reported to Star in Her First Korean Movie

According to an exclusive report by HeraldPOP, 2NE1’s Dara (Sandara Park) will soon be making her big screen debut!

A movie industry insider revealed on July 24 that Dara will be taking her first step onto the big screen with her first-ever leading role in an upcoming Korean film that is expected to begin filming around the end of September.

The movie is said to be a Korean version of the American musical comedy-drama film “Begin Again.” The storyline will follow the life of an average part-time worker at a convenience store, who begins to search for a mysterious melody that appears in her dreams every night, as well as an internet broadcast PD who tries to help her discover what that music means.

Dara is reported to have been cast as the role of the part-time convenience store employee who goes on a special music-seeking trip. The Internet broadcast PD is said to be played by actor Han Jae Suk.

Meanwhile, this upcoming movie is scheduled to premiere in the first half of next year.

She doesn't ever have to come back to 2NE1 for me anymore. I'm very happy for her she's finally getting the acting career in Korea she's been wanting for a while now and that YG felt would not be a very good idea.

I'm so happy for her. She's works so hard and with so much humility and self-awareness. I don't even care for the negative comments because it mostly stems from being ignorant and blind to her accomplishments as a performer and now as a nugu actress. She did great in we broke up, there were still a handful of awkward bits but she gets better and more at ease with each episode. I was hoping for a network drama for her next projec tho, 2nd lead role even, a movie's a huge deal but I trust they know what they're doing and at least she gets to act and utilize her guitar skills (or maybe drum skills again) at the same time.

What is exactly wrong with her voice? I can't understand Korean so her speaking voice/tone doesn't strike me as anything out of the usual? I've asked this several times but never really gotten a clear explanation..

were you the one who asked me last time? i'll just say the same thing, it's very high pitched and cartoonish. idk she sounds like she belongs in a cartoon. i thought it was really obvious and jarring in her cameo in the producers (also i thought she sucked there lmao but i'm not fond of the korean style of comedic acting if you get what i mean)

Ah nope lol I don't remember asking you. Idk. Didn't watch her cameo in the producers because I didn't like the role she was given but the stills alone looked hella awkward. Cartoonish maybe I could understand but I wouldn't categorize her voice as really high-pitched as I associate it with squeaky and screechy, very cockroach-y voice. I'm just super curious because it's one of the major complaints on Dara and it's a valid complaint, at least in Korean standards that they'd want you to forego acting because of your voice.

oh ok, someone else asked me in another post. yeah, i think it becomes even more heightened when she does comedic roles, where it becomes really grating. i think she's better in emotional parts. but i still don't think she's good lmao, but yg is preparing her acting career pretty well

She was an actress way before she even became an idol. i remember my 10 year old self stanning her with Hero Angeles and became disappointed when she was paired up with Joseph Bitangcol. I remember most, if not all of her roles have something to do with forbidden love because she's foreign but with happy endings. I'm just glad she's finally back into acting, but she really needs to polish her skills well.

I haven't seen her in anything and have actually heard that she's not very good, but honestly? I'm just happy she seems to be carving her niche and having fun. I really want 2NE1 to have a comeback, but even if it does happen, there's still gonna be long hiatuses and a post-2NE1 career to think about, so go get that money, Dara.

honestly I think that yg lost their window to make dara happen as an actress, I can’t see her doing big projects/getting big popularity wise as an actress, not that it is her main goal (and I'm probably wrong).
