Lee Jung Hee Booked on Allegations of Child Abuse

In an unexpected turn of events, Lee Jung Hee has been booked by the police under suspicion of child abuse.

Lee Jung Hee (44 years old), who accused her husband of subjecting her and their two sons to years of sexual slavery, was booked, announced by the police on July 23, for the alleged abuse of her two sons. She is accused of brainwashing her two sons (17 and 13 years old) between September of last year till recently into testifying that they were sexually abused. She is also accused of harming their mental health. Additionally, Lee Jung Hee is accused of keeping them out of school after her two sons returned to Korea last year (in June and October 2014, respectively).

On the same day, the police submitted an application for an arrest warrant for Lee Jung Hee, but the prosecution office rejected it, saying additional investigation was needed.

However, Lee Jung Hee has been ordered to keep at least 100 meters away from the hospital her two sons are currently at.

Previously, it was reported that Lee Jung Hee had been granted a divorce from her husband, as well as custody of their two sons. There were rumors for a while that Lee Jung Hee and her sons had been kidnapped after leaving the court, but the police clarified that the mother and sons were at a hospital in Gyeonggi province, after agreeing to be receive psychiatric evaluations.

Meanwhile, the SBS program “We Want to Know“ released a preview yesterday of their upcoming episode that will delve into the case of Lee Jung Hee.

I have no idea if that citizenship thing is true, but I hope yes - even if US officials in Korea probably wouldn't want to meddle in the local shady pacts/systems they would have to do something, even a little if the kids are legally "theirs".

On a positive side: they can't kill her if she's in prison (actually they totally could), and since they're pushing mental illness she shouldn't get hard time.

On the negative side: WHO IS RAISING THE CHILDREN??? If the father lost the custody battle: she has sole custody. If she has sole custody and is in jail/has a restraining order: the children should be a ward of the state. Who are their foster parents, does korea even have foster parents, are they old enough the be emancipated??? As American citizens shouldn't they be sent back and put into an American foster home????

On the humans-are-evil side: the system has failed her and her children, and I hope someone some where is able to free them from this hell one day.

I'm glad you added in that they absolutely could kill her in prison, because just look at everything that's going on in the US right now with everyone that has been murdered while in police custody.

I would think that if they are in fact US citizens that the embassy would step in maybe and send them back to America? I'm not sure at that point.

Yeah their citizenship is becoming a mystery. But seeing how everything is going down , I don't think they lied about being American.

This scandal involves a lot of big weights in Korea, and there's obvious bts support from at minimum local police force, so I think it would be tricky for America to step in. They would be stepping on too many important toes and burning major bridges. I could honestly see the embassy turning a blind eye in a "sacrifice 1; save millions" type of way.

Welp, there goes any and all thought about ever seeking an extended stay in Korea. My cousin taught English there for a year and said he highly recommends it, but nooooope. Not with everything that I've been reading with these cases and stuff.

I can't even imagine how terrified she must be about what's happening to her - money and power will get you so many things in this world, it's sick. I'm SO thankful though that netizens are on her side and that people are actively looking for evidence to help her. This would be even worse if the Korean public were against her too.

the stuff I've seen about how they treat sexual assault cases involving foreigner victims (it's also bad for locals but still),and then any crime case involving foreigners (big or small). the amount of people who runaway from Korea over a public disturbance charge because after 6 months of fighting they realize no lawyer will be able to win the case for them. :-/

so now this SBS documentary has been released and korea has turned against her. But it just made me even more paranoid because the entire video seems like an act and still nothing is adding up.
