[BREAKING] Sunye and Sohee Withdraw from Wonder Girls

It has officially been announced that Sunye and Sohee will no longer be a part of the Wonder Girls.

While there were previously talks of the possibility of them rejoining the group, JYP Entertainment has formally announced through a press release on July 20: “Sunye and Sohee, who have promoted as members of the Wonder Girls, have withdrawn from the team. As a result, the Wonder Girls will be promoting as a four-member group (Yeeun, Yubin, Sunmi, and Hyelim).”

As for the reason for their withdrawal, JYPE explained, “In order for her to devote more to her family life, [Sunye] has withdrawn [from the group] as well as terminated her contract. Sohee has also decided to withdraw because she desires to focus on the work that she wants to do.”

The press release also states, “Even for this upcoming [Wonder Girls] album, Sunye and Sohee did not hold back their support for all the members. They will continue to encourage one another and remain good friends. Please show a lot of love and anticipation for the Wonder Girls’ future activities.”

As previously reported, the Wonder Girls will be making a comeback as a four-member band in August.

I'm happy that now is official, and i'm anticipating the new chapter of Wonder Girls.
Never thought Sunye would be back, Sohee too, they lost their passions to perform as singer long time ago..
I'm gland they ended this cleanly.
The only thing I regretted was Sohee moved to BH Entertainment..and I don't think they do particularly good job in managing her until now.

i'm new to most kpop and JYP but why announce it NOW? wouldn't it be better to wait until after they're done with the comeback? They said Sunye and Sohee would not be a part of it anyway, they could have kept the whole "hiatus" until later

More than likely to help generate buzz for the return of the Wonder Girls. Something I saw said that Sunye and Sohee wrote this twenty days prior to the announcement. If that is true, so I have no doubts that this was already done and over with, and it was done now for reasons.
I personally don't find it a coincidence that they released this information so close to August (when the group is supposed to comeback). Now we have pictures of Yubin, Sunmi, Yeeun, and Lim at the airport heading off somewhere. I'm betting teasers are on the way if they are not already done.

I think it is great that they are all supportive of each other. I will miss sohee a lot and tbqh as much as I can't stand sunye now, her vocals will be missed. I like yeeun but I'm not the biggest fan of her vocals, atleast not without sunye to balance it out but I'm sure the foursome will be fine.

Well...I mean that was obvious. I am not going to lie, I was hoping for the return of both just for closure...but honestly both were over it and found their way outs. JYP needs to let go of saying they are free to come back because it's stupid to think they would come back when they left in the first place.

I wasn't around the first time when they were popular, but I knew of the Wonder Girls and I knew their music. I'm looking forward to their new concept. I'm also glad that they decided to announce this before the comeback because there is some kind of closure and people won't be asking questions about Sunye and Sohee, which I think would take away from the other girls. That said, best of luck to Sunye and Sohee. Who knows, maybe Sohee could come back to JYP in the future as an actress?

The moment Sunye announced her pregnancy I knew she would more than likely not comeback. She wasy favorite & I'm bummed (and wish she wasn't a missionary?) but I cannot really be mad at her prioritizing her happiness. Sohee, meanwhile, I was never really close to emotionally but am also glad she is going for what she wants. Best of luck to both of them!!

Sad, but not in the least bit surprising. I would personally say the end of WG era already jhappened in 2010, but nevertheless... It would say this is not a bitter withdrawl though - Sohee wants to act and Sunye has obviously been wanting to focus on her family for a long time now. All the best to everyone!

I have no problem with Sohee and Sunye leaving nor their reasons for it but man wish JYPE got this out of the way a lot sooner. Would had saved themselves a lot of flack, especially Sunye.

Hope the music for this comeback turns out fine. I'm happy WG lives on but I wouldn't had minded if Wonder Party was their last release. I rather they end themselves with good songs and leave behind a successful career instead of dragging on with declining music quality and ruining themselves further, and I'm quite scared the latter will happen. I'll do my best not to doubt JYP too much though, his music's fine and I have a soft spot for band music.

Not really surprised. The moment Sun Ye announced her marriage she was pretty much confirmed to be out of WG. So Hee was more into acting than singing wasn't she? JYP only told her to join WG to get her name out there but I guess he never got any acting gigs for her.

JYP not getting Sohee acting gigs is the crazy part because the girl is a 10×better actress than a singer. If he'd promoted her as an actress even a quarter as much as he did for Suzy, she would not have walked at the end of 2013. Lee Byung Hun is a shit but at least he manages young actors properly even in the face of all the idol casting. (and come on, it's not like Sohee was some nugu). /late
