One thing I don't understand, why make MR when the group didn't sing live? Isn't it unfair? Like, SM groups don't sing live in their first week, and people make MR out of it showing they can sing (?)

SM groups have a notorious reputation for hardly singing their songs live period (save for SHINee, DBSK, and I think F(x) had a decent rep) and I think the point of making an MR removed is to show how many groups don't sing live often.

I don't trust this videos. Sound just doesn't work that way, you can't just take out what you don't want. And a lot of times is not needed because you can tell it perfectly apart in the original.

I'm addicted to Choco Chip Cookies, but Hara sounds specially bad. In the first AOA's video there isn't practically any singing.

AOA were honestly better than I thought they'd be... tone wasn't great but they all sang and were on key (in the second video). The only person who really can't sing here is Goo Hara. Sistar the B-E-S-T of course.

Soshi: pretty good over all. Props to Sooyoung who has definitely improved and is the stablest of the non-vocal line. I usually have issues with Tiffany, but she's been alright this era.

Girl's Day: Well, Minah's definitely the stand out vocal there. Hyeri and Yura don't sound bad necessarily, but they more talk than sing even though they're in tune.

Apink: I don't really follow them, but I thought they sounded pretty good. I know Eunji is the best singer, but they sounded pretty balanced in terms of vocal ability.

Hara: Sounded fine in her lower register, but a lot of the high notes got away from her. The song doesn't suit her ability level

Nine Muses: Like Apink, I thought they sounded pretty balanced. I get the impression some of them are pretty weak vocalists, but the song was well tailored to complement their abilities.

Sistar: Ability-wise they're fine. Dasom sounds like she's improved. I hate the way Soyu sounds in this song though.

AOA: Yeah, no idea. At first I thought none of them could sing, but then a couple sounded good in a few sections. That song does nothing for them vocally.

Mamamoo: SLAYED. That is all.

People have been talking about how much Yoona has improved in her singing, and whilst that is true, Sooyoung is the one who has really impressed me with her singing. I know she was originally trained to be part of the vocal line but she's really showing her skills here, she's sounding very stable and is easily the best vocalist in the dance line. I say with a bit more work she's be pretty decent, I'd like to see how she works more complicated lines because she does get more lines in their Japanese music, time to give her more lines in their Korean music as well. Tiffany wasn't singing live quite a bit, but Seohyun and Taeyeon were sounding great as usual. Actually, all of them sounded decent.

Girl's day

Apink sounded pretty stable. They're decent vocalists.

Hara, girl...Singing is not your strong point ._.

Kyungri, Hyemi, Hyuna and Keumjo slaying them vocals! \o/

SISTAR sounded great live as expected. Hyorin and Soyou are on fire! *O*

AOA lip sync a lot, but Choa is still a force to be reckoned with and Yuna is pretty good too. The rest of the girls are alright, but Hyejong, Seolhyun and Mina are fine more or less.

Sooyoung has been sounding amazing lately, I do hope she gets recognized and is given more lines. She's more stable than Sunny these days. Tiffany has been sick, but there's definitely been some live singing mixed with the recorded track because every now and then I hear the distinct sound of inflamed vocal chords straining and I almost feel my throat hurt.

Girl's Day: Minah, maybe the lead vocal is okay but I don't pay much attention to her so idk

Apink: Eunji, Namjoon's okay and I guess Bomi too

Hara: Is bad but that's well-known and she's improved, Kara are pretty weak vocalists anyways

Nine Muses: I can't differentiate members so idk

Sistar: Hyorin, Soyu's okay

AOA: Choa, Yuna's okay, Jimin's rapping isn't bad

Mamamoo: Everyone in the vocal line, Moonbyul's rapping seems fine to me so overall kudos

As for lives, pretty much all groups here but Mamamoo give standard "some members sing well some members don't but are live anyways and occasional members lipsync their entire lines" lives.
Only group I've kept tabs on are AOA, the band unit's pretty solid since that's where all the good live members are plus Mina raps instead of sings, dance unit's meh for FNC standards but they were clearly much better in Elvis/Get Out (where everyone was indeed live) than basically every promo since Confused (aka the time I started having trust issues).

But MR Removed videos are not to be believed anymore. It's known that k-pop fans do this, that's why every agency and their mothers now are making their artists lipsync to pre-recorded versions (that they probably recorded sitting and not dancing at the same time), so when they make these videos they'll all sound super stable and blah blah.

MR removes are unreliable but I'll still bite for fun.

Soshi: They're all good at singing and dancing at the same time. Some are obviously stronger vocalists than others but In general they have some of the best breath control compared to other groups.

Girls Day: Decent. They sound like the studio version for the most part. Minah sounds the best though.

Hara: She's not a natural singer at all but I can't properly critique her vocals because those fans were having a meltdown. I didn't know homegirl was that popular.

Sistar: Solid vocals and my girl Dasom has improved<3

AOA: Backtrack queens except for Choa, Jimin, and sometimes Yuna.
