“Unpretty Rapstar” Season 2 to Air in September

Mnet‘s female rapper competition “Unpretty Rapstar” will be back with a second season airing at the beginning of September!

According to insiders, season two of “Unpretty Rapstar” began scouting for contestants around the same time that “Show Me the Money 4” went on air, and the show has nailed down most of the contestants so far. Filming will begin August, and the show is slated to premiere after “Show Me the Money 4″ finishes its run.



As for changes, “Unpretty Rapstar” has been extended by two episodes for a total of ten episodes for the second season. The format and structure of the show will more or less stay the same, including the unpredictable elimination system from season one.

Meanwhile, the first season of “Unpretty Rapstar” gained massive amounts of interest when it aired, topping out at an impressive 1.42 percent viewership rating according to the Nielsen cable standard.

6. [+114, -19] If you're an idol, please join without the title unlike Jimin who talked about being an idol in her lyrics all the time. And don't expect the judges to coddle you because you're an idol.

7. [+80, -6] I wish out of the idols we'd get LE, CL, and personally Gilme. She could become the second Jessi, capable of both rap and vocals.

9. [+69, -23] CL??????? Would be daebak if she joined

10. [+46, -4] Not many idol rappers off the top of my head... CL and maybe LE from memory, but no way CL would join this show

i doubt LE will be on this. she seems like she hates the spotlight tbh and i think shes learned that production is more her calling than rapping. id love to see her be one of the producers that give away tracks

this season will probably have a lot of idols and i doubt any girls from smaller companies will make it since everyone will be fighting for a spot =/ my fantasy draft would include erin, baby j and lime but itll probably have yura or chanmi or something

eh if the idols can somewhat write or at least rap for a full verse like jimin it should be fine but most of the female idol group rappers can't cut it lol. i'd really only want to see hana, lime and maybeeee the evol chick (if shes still alive or around) since they're all very underrated and do write their own lyrics. erin has great flow but idk much about her lyrics (dont think she has any credits) so she might just carpet bomb herself. they should limit the idols to just 2 of them tbh. if bora's on this it's gonna be a huge joke (it might even be likely cause her latest stuff hint at her trying to build up her 'rep').

i do think lexy and gilme (if they dont find themselves to be above this) are good choices if they're going for unpopular mainstream female rappers. they'll probably call kisum's friend kasper and i've heard things about choi sam being good as well if they're going for underground rappers. there's also kittib? i dont follow the underground scene much.

they should definitely call for more female producers on this show or at least female judges. LE would be a good idol choice and so would Miryo. getting Cheetah or Jessi back to MC would be great too.

I would love to see Hana on this show! She was once an underground rapper, so she might be a bit less overtly 'i'm an idol' about the whole thing (also this might give Hana some relevance too oops)

idk where this rumor got spread but she was never an underground rapper! she was actually trained into it during her trainee days but gained a lot of passion for hip hop so she started listening to it more and writing her own lyrics. she is really good for an idol though and criminally underrated!

Ahh really? A fansite I read, said that she'd been big on the scene, and Jieun had been in some indie rock band before joining TS. But ahh, I see, yeah, she's very good at it. Her performance of Amazinger at I think, Singapore, was really good.

ah I think that was a misconception, if she was actually underground before we'd actually get clips of her performing during her underground days (like most other underground rappers). jieun was part of an indie/rock band sort of (idk if it was more of an indie band but more of a bunch of singers together enjoying music together) called brown city! they had their formal debut sometime last year iirc!

there better be lots of featuring/producing from the previous cast & other women in the industry because the judges/producers/features of last series were so lacking in women for a show about female rappers

i love CL as an idol/rapper but im baffled that some ppl consider her a Rapper rapper. when has she ever done an improv rap or battled anyone. going on a show like this would prob poke a lot of holes in her cred and she's too famous for it anyway
