OT - Anyone been half-way following from what I see on tumblr about fansites apparently closing down because of one tumblr making the photos (look better I guess? since a lot of photos are I guess whitewashed where the idols look really bright, and apparently international cockroaches is trending in korea on twitter or something? idk - I'm half way following it on my tumblr xD)

btw 'roaches' are just terms they add to fans in general, either in self-deprecating or insulting way (so it's not just something they coined for i-fans only)

anyways yeah i get that tumblr wants to fight against colorism in korea but can they please not do that with other people's photos? i absolutely despise people who edit other people's fantaken photos "to make them better" and/or crop out the logo "because it's distracting"
if you're annoyed by the whitewashing in fantaken photos please just take the photos yourself and edit them however you want instead of criticizing other fans' pictures and stealing their contents to "improve them" or whatever bs. ugh.

I don't follow many k-pop tumblrs/I sort of do, but if the owners of the photos want to lighten up the picture they can do so. I'm just here to look at the pictures of whoever I like. I have to agree with you on someone else editing a picture that isn't theirs to make it 'better/aka their natural skintone' I might not like the overall brightness, but still taking a picture and editing without permission isn't great. I'm not 100% if the tumblr I follow, unbleachedkai, edits photos or if they just post ones they've taken? Which if they edit, I'll unfollow them - but meh. There are sooo many blogs where people do that and people seem to be centering the focus on a single blog who only does (BTS...I think.)

like i know a lot of kpop fansites hate i-fans because of the whole editing thing. i know several actor fans who's gone through that and i have personally fought with some of the tumblr users who either insist that they only had the good intentions or straight up lie and say i never did that etc ugh for god's sake just because you removed the watermark the owners won't be able to tell if the photos are theirs

i just looked for unbleachedkai and it looks like they just look for and post photos and gif edits that aren't whitewashed - they even credit the sources aw :d

I had a few tumblrs on my dash mentioning do not edit photos and what not, then someone sent a ask to one of the seventeen blogs I follow about melaninjungkook who apparently started the whole thing? People have been sending her all kinds of asks, and apparently she had a panic attack this morning where someone else had to take over for her.

Yee, I need to find more blogs like unbleachedkai but I'm not in too many fandoms and really right now the blogs I follow, te only one I see tooo much of really bright picture is on a seventeen blog.
