1. [+5,840, -57] Omona... what are the standards for winning Miss Korea nowadays...

2. [+5,634 -118] Come on, this is so wrong... If that's a winning face, then I've got loads of Miss Koreas all around me..

3. [+4,315, -77] She's the winner?... The standards of the judge panel are as stuffy as this weather..

4. [+3,303, -75] I didn't think she'd get winner, rahter thought Seoul or Busan, Ulsan would ㅜㅜ

5. [+2,533, -44] What the?????????

6. [+565, -10] Lee Young Ae is the true winner of today ㅋㅋㅋ she beat them all ㅋㅋㅋ as for this winner, she's going to be humiliated at the Universe competition

7. [+494, -3] Her face looks like she let go and ate ramen last night

8. [+412, -5] Maybe she's rich ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ Ugh, I really hate that she won, I don't want people thinking she's a Korean beauty

Source: Nate
1. [+522, -21] How much money does it cost to win nowadays? Judging by her face, tsk... I guess our last true Miss Korea ended with Honey Lee.

2. [+466, -5] I think the judges lost all sense of standards after seeing Lee Young Ae up there. None of the other women could compare.

3. [+433, -9] Why do the women behind her look prettier?

4. [+30, -1] Ugly... or is it just the picture? What a disappointment

5. [+24, -1] How is a Miss Korea winner who is supposed to represent the beauty of Korea uglier than After School's Lizzy?!

Source: Nate [2]
1. [+346, -5] What's the point of Miss Korea nowadays anyway, not like anyone cares. It's a party of their own now with similar looking women all sharing the same trophies.

2. [+292, -6] Looks like someone you can find on the streets... I guess everyone's a winner nowadays

3. [+184, -4] No more merit to this, it's a league of their own

4. [+270, -3] In the question and answer segment, they were talking about the bias against Miss Korea and I don't remember who answered but she said "Everyone thinks that Miss Koreas get plastic surgery but as you can all see, we are 100% natural"... do they not have shame

5. [+215, -4] The prettiest there was Lee Young Ae.. amazing how much you can fix up faces of women in their twenties and not one of them can live up to her beauty.

Article: Lee Young Ae 'beauty that intimidates even Miss Korea'

Source: TV Report via Nate
1. [+575, -25] Sucks that a natural beauty has to judge half human plastic surgery monsters filled with fillers and silicon

2. [+547, -25] Basically like a huge company CEO coming out to judge small agency employees

3. [+468, -22] That elegant aura could never come from plastic surgery monsters

Official Press Release: Catharina Choi Nunes, Miss Ilhabela is the new Miss World Brazil
Vice-Miss takes over title and will travel to Sanya, China, to compete in Miss World 2015
published on 29 June 2015 at Global Beauties

Choi (left), became Miss World Brazil 2015 after the resignation of winner Ana Luisa Castro (right) upon the discovery that she had married in Belgium to her long time boyfriend. The Miss World pageant does not accept contestants who are married.

25-year old Catharina Choi Nunes, who represented Ilhabela, has been officially named Miss World Brazil 2015 after the resignation of Saturday night’s winner, Ana Luisa Castro of Sergipe.

Ana Luisa Castro was elected the winner by the judges during the televised gala; however it came to the knowledge of the organization that miss Castro was in fact married in Belgium.

Castro’s status does not meet the requirements and rules of the Miss World Brazil pageant, so she resigned voluntarily. The Organization was not aware of miss Castro’s civil status, valid in Europe but it was not recognized in Brazil by the time of competition.

The organization of Miss World Brazil respects the decision of Ana Luisa Castro and wishes her the very best in her personal and professional life.

The new Miss World Brazil, Catharina Choi Nunes, comes from Sao Paulo and stands 1.77 m in height. She worked as a TV presenter in South Korea during two years, where her roots come from. She speaks Portuguese, English and Korean. Her Beauty with a Purpose project was among the finalists of this year’s event.

Miss Choi Nunes will be officially crowned during this week, in an official event to be televised live.

Results follow:
Miss World Brazil 2015: Catharina Choi Nunes (Ilhabela)
2nd place: Paula Gomes (Mato Grosso do Sul)
3rd place: Lais Berte (Rio Grande do Sul)
4th place: Thaina Magalhaes (Distrito Federal)

beauty pageants are awful, and if anyone in the US has ever seen toddlers and tiaras, you'll also understand why I feel that way.

Amazing formatting OP, I can barely figure out how to put spaces between paragraphs with HTML.

It's disheartening to see so many negative comments on pageants. Most people who criticize them base their opinions on television shows and a preconceived notion on what they think beauty pageants are and what they represent. I have participated in, and won, beauty pageants when I was in high school/beginning of university because a lot of pageants award scholarship money and provide both experience and an opportunity to engage with many intelligent and talented women. I always enjoyed them because as opposed to everyone's belief that beauty pageants are mainly superficial (which isn't completely untrue because there can be a certain inclination to look/present yourself a certain way), pageants actually encourage women to understand not only each other but also the importance of self confidence and hard work. We would have really great volunteer opportunities and discuss politics and world events and I have never participated in a pageant and left without gaining knowledge I would have never had a chance to had I not been a part of the experience.

I was very proud to be there to represent a demographic that usually doesn't thrive in Western pageants (I'm Asian American), and I am always so excited when younger girls from minority groups come up and tell me that I've inspired them to join when they would not have otherwise because they didn't believe that they fit into the typical "Western conventional beauty" standard. Being a part of pageants is empowering and taught me the importance of character and value of friendship and I wish people would not be so quick to write it off.

ppl have such unrealistically high standards when it comes to celebrities. and they know those aren't their real standards, they just search for flaws so they'll have something to bitch about
meanwhile if they saw any of these women on the street they KNOW they'd rate them as a beauty

Like, I get that "miss" is in there, but why does that matter at all?

Also, omg they're all so beautiful. Lee Min-ji is doing things to me.

And the organization here is spot on, good job OP!

married women have their own pageant, mrs. world. i think it's weird too. also i believe their is an age limit for miss world regardless of marital status.

yeah i just checked it's 25.
