English pop songs that originally didn’t get a lot of exposure. As well as f(x) songs, there are many other Korean songs that were created as remakes of English songs.

Buying of songs is a common among record labels that believe that they can turn that track into a hit. In these cases, many K-Pop songs were bought or sold in order to create the tracks today. How do some of there English version compare to the Korean versions?

anyway this is interesting and really shows how dated kpop's sound can be. these groups manage to make a lot of things work that prob wouldn't elsewhere.

what i noticed however is that there seems to be a tendency to make songs very smooth-sounding with all the layers of music and vocals meshing together and sometimes it would be better if that weren't the case (eg. the original hot summer chorus was better with its depth of sound)

This is really interesting, and I'm pleasantly surprised that not all songs bought by the agencies are American pop rejects. Some of the released songs are so superior to the demo version it's really impressive, like Lucifer. And f(x) really slayed Red Light (that whole album was awesome T_T)

of all the things i don't understand about kpop fans, looking down upon buying songs is one of the weirdest. Very few idols actually have a hand in production, what difference does it make whether the agency employs producers inhouse or buys from outside?

I used to think that the cambodian version of RDD was the remake and not vice versa.

Thank you for taking the time to make this post OP! I hadn't heard any of the originals/demos except for Corbin Bleu's but I never noticed that was the original song for Juliette...

I like the original version of Hot Summer and prefer the sound of f(x)'s Red Light to the original version but the original seems to have more coherent lyrics...maybe they just don't translate well...

Thanks for this. I was so confused by the RDD one. I legit thought SM had bought the song and then kept but improved upon the choreo and styling lol Whoever did the research for that Koreaboo article should be fired.
