The Producers ends off sweetly with highest ratings of over 20%
The_Producers-p1.jpg

KBS 2TV variety drama Producer has hit its highest ratings ever in its final episode of June 20th.

Starring Kim Soo Hyun, Gong Hyo Jin, Cha Tae Hyun, and IU, Producer had garnered interest with its strong casting right from the start even before the drama premiered. Although it was just like a mini-series with only twelve episodes in total, it was complemented with the long list of more than 30 celebrities who were invited to make cameo appearances.

Producer started off with 10.1% ratings (ABG, nationwide) and has been relatively consistent with its episode ratings with the last few showing increased viewership.

The series finished off with ratings of 20.4% (TNMS, Seoul) and 18.2% (TNMS, nationwide) while AGB reports 17.9% (Seoul) and 17.7% (nationwide). Nonetheless, both analysis sites reported sharp increases in viewership in the last episode.

Just as one of the drama’s episodes has discussed, understanding episode ratings is crucial in learning about broadcasts. In particular, the drama captured females in their 40s as their main audience, making up 19%, followed by 13% comprising males in their 40s, and 10% by females in their 50s.

While a special episode of Producer will air next week on June 26th, an official of the drama discussed possibilities of continuing with a second season.

Personally I liked this couple of episodes ... yeah, i'm a fool for happy endings.
I enjoyed every side story and characters (Cindy's antifan manager and the station ghost were my favorites)
So seeing a good closure for most of them was really nice
I'm happy at the end they didn't force any couple

Well...just one, the least expected couple ....and the only kiss we saw during last episode (lol)

Overall it was an alright drama - pretty forgettable plot, and the actors really carry the show. There was SO MUCH POTENTIAL!!

By the end of the drama the only character I cared about what happened to was Cindy. And I feel like the writer really failed with Gong Hyo-jin's character - she was really there just to be the love interest of 2 different guys, and didn't have much plot otherwise....why?!!

I'm still bitter over this ending. I hate how they focused on the lovelines and didn't even resolve any of it nicely, not to mention the under-usage of my bb Cha Tae Hyun. #justiceforcth tbh! I mourn the lost potential of this show.

But whatever, at least Cindy was happy! I reluctantly accept her open ending with Seung Chan even though I wanted them to be together because that's what she wanted. All I cared for was her tbh, and that's saying something since I love CTH and Gong Hyo Jin. Their characters were just blah.

The lovelines were not the important things in the drama, the thing that the characters realized in the last couple of episodes was that there are people who care about them and who they care about. I was pretty happy we didnt' get grand declaration of love in the last episode like we usualyl do.

As far as I'm concerned though lovelines were the main focus on the show. They started out with an interesting premise but because of the lackluster response from the audience switched to romcom immediately. They wasted soooo much time on the romance lbr, the whole show pretty much revolved on the love quadrangle with KBS productions in the background. Hell they even added the A4 couple. If the writer didn't want anyone to end up with anybody she shouldn't have put the limelight on the lovelines so much and instead should've just focused on the characters themselves and their relationships with one another. If she did that then your point about the characters growing and realizing people care about them etc. would've had greater impact. But since romance sells and the who's-going-to-end-up-with-who game was pulling in fans to the show, they pandered to them until the very end.

I'm just salty that this show underwhelmed me after all the hype. </3

sigh, this drama was such a letdown. i had high hopes for it in the beginning, but it progressively got worse with every episode, even though i did shed a tear or two (okay, several) for cindy. she was the only one with actual character development, i don't care if this drama was meant to be "realistic" or whatever, but the other characters were severely lacking. i also found it weird that bsc was suddenly crushing on cindy at the very end, and so immediately after being rejected? i really wish the writer-nim had more chill with the romance plot and didn't feel the need to make the entire drama about that, more behind-the-scenes production work or more 2D1N filming would have been just fine.

i do really love the drunk!aegyo dynamic among bsc/yejin/joonmo though, lmao.

i don't know what to think about this drama. i really enjoyed some aspects of it, but by the end, i just felt let down. there really wasn't a plot except for Cindy, and i didn't understand why the writer needed to waste time on the storyline of the lady who controlled the paper--i skipped those parts.

plus "oh i've been around you for like 20 years and only now do i realize its love because someone else is sniffing around." gag me.

BSC needs his own show. i really liked his character and his petty sabotaging whenever he was salty or upset

I thought it was a boring dramas. I only enjoyed watching Cindy's arc bc she ended up being the most interesting one. ;~;
I found BSC to be annoying and he got way too much screen time. It had potential but fell flat.

The only plot points I cared about revolved around Cindy. Her friendship with TYJ, her puppy love with BSC, her relationships with her manager/CEO/etc. I wish she had more interaction with RJM, because I thought they were hinting at that with the Yuna backstory. (but i guess bsc is the rjm to her yuna?)

I just wish the writers took as much time to develop BSC, TYJ, and RJM's arcs as they had Cindy. RJM was pretty okay developed, but I was expecting a bigger rebellion against Byun CEO with how he was talking? And they could have done more with BSC's family, but they just regulated them to comedic relief?? And TYJ was one of the few female PDs we saw, and the only main female PD. How is life as a PD different for her compared to, say, RJM???

This was a feel-good drama with a feel-good ending, but I'm probably going to love it forever because I'm a sucker for that sorta thing. I get that they only had 12 episodes, so maybe a second season could give the characters justice?

Who were the final couples? I didn't watch a single episode because I can't stand the lead actress, but I'm curious.

i liked the ending alot honestly. it was a sweet open ending with hints of romance but it mainly focused on the relationships everyone had fostered & the friendships they made/their person growth.

overall it was a really sweet show but why was every episode as long as a movie. when will KSH be in another drama probably not for 2-3 years since he'll probably enlist next year.
