BIGBANG4-800x450

On June 16, media outlet Kpop Starz released an interview with star choreographer and dancer Parris Goebel, during which she recalled her work on BIGBANG‘s “BANG BANG BANG.”

She describes about her creative process behind her choreography for the song and talks about how it was working with the group, “I played the song and I found inspiration through the music. Then, I literally interpreted the lyrics of the song. It took three days to instruct the dancers. All of the five guys in BIGBANG are great and fun to work with.

With regards to the provocative scene where she and G-Dragon are chained together by the neck, Goebel says, “Creatively it was so much fun. We were chained together by the neck to show we are connected together. That was an idea from G-Dragon, which I thought rocked.

She also comments on her past work with Taeyang on “RINGA LINGA,” “Taeyang is awesome. We have become really good friends. He watched a video clip that I released called ‘I Love Cali Boys‘ and he was inspired by what he saw. Afterward, he reached out to me to work with him..

I obviously like K-pop. That is why I choose to work with the artists. I am happy to continue working with YG Entertainment,” Goebel adds.

Meanwhile, Goebel will be touring globally with Janet Jackson next month.

Well if they were only chained together by the neck, it would be ok but why not being on an equal footing when posing ? Not a good idea GD but she also agreed to do so and idgi.

I read this a long time ago so I don't remember what were all the points here, but pretty much is variations of the same shit he keeps doing (racism and cultural appropriation), but you can judge for yourself and get an idea.

Appropriation of black culture, use of the N Word, blackface, appropriation of cornrows and the afro, uses black people as props in music videos and wore a straight jacket and pretended to be a mental patient in video “Oh My Friend”

He's a piece of shit basically.

articles like this remind me how a lot of commenters tried to convince me that kpop groups spend months learning choreos... weeks maybe. oh well, i should let it go.

i like that she's included in the vid, but then the way she's there... not my cup of tea.

everybody are entitled to feel offended even if it's only to give themselves a reason to hate on someone. If people would put half as much energy to actually pick up a book on the subject of matter Instead of relying on gossip forums, kpopwebsites and tumblr blog posts as sources .

We could actually have deeper discussions about kpop, race, colorism, feminism and globalization instead of the repetitive comments about how someone is disgusting trash

True but this would require people to not only read a *book*, but also reflect. Unfortunately for some, it's just so much easier to bandwagon and spew vitriol anonymously over the net than to engage in stimulating discourse over issues that affect everyone.

I could not have said it better. I hope at least people on omona will move on from calling someone a troll or "oppa did not mean it" "oppalogist" as a way to deflect any questions or criticisms. It's just not productive or nice.

lol didnt you go into an fx post and spam amber's old facebook comments and in addition called her racist trash in another fx article? cute hypocrisy <3

I pointed out that amber has done more things that is racist including using the n word to peopleon Omona including you. You guys were being hypocritical since you hate on everyone who is not your bias. You have the right to feel offended but at least be equal opportunity hate

We need to spread the hate ~Equally~.

No i agree tho, my bias has done some racist shit and ill admit that, but it is hypocritical to hate someone for being 'racist', but shield their favs for doing the exact same shit.

This is a waste of time and predictable as you coming into post about an yg artist to be angry. You and a few others are clearly unhappy people otherwise you would not spam on every other post about someone you don't even like

Ok, I still don't see the problem with the chain. Sure he suggested it, and she AGREED to it....so.... like is she doesn't have an issue with it and see it as an artistic expression, then why all the freaking out?

I think it might be because this may be the first black woman he's had, and then coupled with all of his OTHER racist bullshit over the years, people don't really want to give him the benefit of the doubt

when foreign, non-Asian women are used, the white girls are generally love interests while the black ones tend to often become sex objects/just dance

oop @ me, I assumed she was part black. I think I Might have been thinking of someone else

regaaaaaardless I think I should change my comment to non-white foreigner (in Korean standards)

From: [identity profile] lily-of-west.livejournal.com
And your comment still doesn't apply here because she's not a video model here let alone prop, she is the choreographer who conceived all the moves she's performing

From: [identity profile] memei5.livejournal.com
it literally just said that it was gd's decision to chain them like that though?

Date: 2015-06-20 08:08 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] lily-of-west.livejournal.com
It says it's his idea they "get chained together" not that it's his idea for her to be chained at all......it's also her choreography so her being on her knees is clearly part of her coreography, she thought the entire thing was really cool and clearly enjoyed doing every single thing especially since she concieved most of it so like I said, your comment still doesn't apply

From: [identity profile] shintotchi.livejournal.com
Am I the only one who read it as she choreographed everything and GD just suggested they be chained together? Like she was already going to be on the floor doing that chores, and GD thought it would be cooler for them to be chained together rather than only her with the chain. Even if that wasn't the case, she's a grown ass woman. All these people on Omona are undermining and shading the hell out of her for liking an idea which looked very cool imo, and choosing to participate in it. Seriously, people are determined to call GD shit. Anyone think that it's odd she released this statement which only really mentions the chain and her relationship with the Big Bang members? Seems like there's a good chance she heard about fans being but hurt and was trying to clarify it.

Damn the hypocrisy here....
Uhm correct me if I'm wrong but the woman clearly said she choreographed the routine meaning even the part of her being on her knees she clearly said GD just suggested them being connected with a chain so why and how is he trash in this instance. The routine is clearly her work she's a grown ass woman and is free to express herself however she wants artistically without people saying she doesn't respect herself. And stop pulling shit out your asses she's not black so pass me with that bs

first off parris goebel is not black she has tanned skin
2nd of all we all know gd is trash but she said it was choreo
parris goebel is a choreo queen they should be lucky to have her anywhere
