Four “couples” test the boundaries of their relationship when they decide to cohabitate without stepping through the threshold of marriage first. The Lover” is a 2015 South Korean drama series directed by Kim Tae Eun.

Couple Apt. 609

Oh Do Si [35] (Oh Jung Se) and Ryoo Doo Ri  [31] (Ryu Hyun Kyung) are in their 30s and have been living together for two years. As Do Si works as a voice-over actor and Doo Ri runs a blog, it’s hard to tell that the loving couple is anything but a married couple who support one another through their daily trials and triumphs.

Couple Apt. 610

Choi Jin Nyeo [33] (Choi Yeo Jin) is a frugal older woman who lives with her much younger boyfriend, Jeong Yeong Joon [21] (Jung Joon Young), a lackadaisical man who carries a guitar around everywhere although he doesn’t even know how to play it. Although Jin Nyeo is supporting Young Joon, he finds ways to get under her good graces with his youthful charms. They have been living together for a year.

Ha Seol Eun [28](Ha Eun Sul) and Park Hwan Jong [32] (Park Jong Hwan) have just moved in together. Seol Eun still works tirelessly to present her perfectly femininity persona in front of Hwan Jong, but how long can she keep up the illusion?

Living in the same apartment building as the three cohabitating couples is Lee Joon Jae [21] (Lee Jae Joon), a young man who lives alone but realizes that he must take a roommate to save money. Ever the loner, he decides to take in a foreign roommate to minimize the need for meaningful interaction. But when the adventure-seeking Takuya [21] (Terada Takuya) from Japan moves in, Joon Jae may be forced out into the world against his wishes.

I'm loving this show so much. Jung Joon Young is such a trip.
All I know is if Lee Joon Jae and Takuya's relationship ends up as just queerbaiting I swear, I'm burning something down.

This show kinda... it's not that good. The main couple is the main for a reason but the noona couple is just plain horrible in every way. It's a terrible fucking relationship, I can barely watch them and laugh at their scenes because of how messed up they are as people. They just make me shudder together.
And this show constantly mentioning black dude's dicks is a bit...
Am I even allowed to talk like this on here, i forgot the rules...
ETA: The main and Takujae are the most interesting and enjoyable to watch out of the four. I hope something does happen between those guys, JJ's love blossoming is actually really sweet. Main couple's chemistry is great. They have a lot of problems, too but they're compatible.

Honestly I feel like the relationships with Takuya and Lee Joon Jae is queer baiting because it isn't really going anywhere. Like all the other couples started out as couples except for them. And I'm confused as to why everyone assumes they are gay just because they live together. Maybe I just don't know much about Korean culture but people live with their friends or people of the same sex all the time. Probably more so than living with boyfriend or girlfriend because of social pressure, even in the states its somewhat frowned upon to live with someone of the opposite sex.

What annoyed me about episode 7 is that the only that happened between the two, is Lee Joon Jae debating rather or not to tell Takuya about a piece of food stuck in his teeth :/. There is only like what 12 episodes to this drama and there was barely any character development last episode even though the previous episode there was so much progress with Lee Joon Jae admitting to having feelings for Takuya. With that being said we still don't even know if Takuya is gay/bi.

Even though he said he definitely liked him? So we know at least one of them isn't straight, I dunno as a verified homosexual I related to it bc it reminds me of that feeling you get when you like a mate but don't want to cross the line.

Oh okay, I can understand that. I guess part of me just wish we could have seen them as an actual couple at some point on the show like all the other couples but with so few episodes left its doesn't seem like that will happen. If anything it will probably end with Joon Jae confessing his feeling and Takuya also admitting he also has feelings for Joon Jae and they start a relationship, or Joon Jae being rejected by him because he's straight, or Takuya admitting to having feeling but then leaving to go on his next adventure since he likes to travel the world.

I understand, but the show isn't an unrealistic representation, plus I love that the other residents are becoming to know them as people so if they do end up in a relationship hopefully it helps.

I'm so behind on this but the last episode I just watched for the main couple and the one with Choi Yeo Jin. I really don't care about the other two couples anymore. Altho I mean I never cared for the engaged couple, they are so boring.

Fans of takujae couple on tumblr are hoping that we get to see things from Takuya pov. We understand that joon jae got the feels, but what about Takuya himself? Also I would like to say that I am just glad people starting writing fanfics for them. If don't get anywhere in the drama for them, then we will in fanfics.

I still like the main couple and Takujae, but the other two couples haven't grown on me at all. Will still keep watching 'cuz I gotta know if Takujae will go anywhere or if it was a waste of everyone's time.

I still cannot stop laughing at Oh Do trying to pull off Key's outfit. Every time the screencaps or gifsets come on my dash, I spend an awful amount of time giggling. I mean, I don't even know how Key made that WORK, but it is one of my FAVORITE outfits he's ever worn.

Of course after the full steam heart attack train the writers have let us ride on with Takuya and Joonjae HAD to be slowed down. Sigh. I knew it was coming, but let me down easy at least.

these past two episodes werent that great. the main couple remains the most engaging because the writers arent taking the time to flesh out the other couples.

that aside, i'm def enjoying the show overall.
