Both Minor groups were better than their respective Majors lol wtf are you doing JYP I hope it's not always this ridiculous...

But one thing's clear, the entirety of Major B sounds way too young, and they all seem pretty mediocre (minus Minor A). I'm gonna go back and watch other things but this was disappointing for my first attempt.

p.s. for anyone who wants to know the outcome of both "battles":

Major A vs Minor B: JYP picked Major A as the winners and really showered them in praise; the audience picked Minor B on the other hand, and thus they won and moved on to Major (... there were a lot of unsubtle Dahyun stans in said audience)

Major B vs Minor A: JYP picked Minor A as the winners, criticized Major B a bit and praised Jiwon especially. The audience, however, once again went against his say and picked Major B as the winners, so Minor A remained.. well, Minor.

Major A and Minor A were my favorite performances!

lol Minor B either really got their shit together or they were Wounded Gazelle Gambit-ing the fuck out of everybody last week. Their performance was good, but Major A just had more fun with theirs and overall worked better as a team imo; they really gave the feel of a group performing together, where Minor B just seemed like four solo artists doing a special stage. If that makes sense?

Somi really improved since her last solo performance - I think it's a combination of Jihyo being an excellent leader and really helping her out, and her just genuinely feeling more comfortable performing w/ others rather than on her own. Natty, on the other hand, seemed weaker doing a group performance as opposed to her solo performances. All in all, though, I didn't like their performance bc it just genuinely sounded like a Kidzbop cover sans the parts where Jihyo sang.

MINOR A SLAYED, THE END. Momo is confirmed to have the loveliest voice ever!!! And she rapped!!! And I am on Cloud 9 right now!!! (... JYP don't rain on my parade next week, istg....)

I AGREE WITH JYP'S CHOICES FOR ONCE, THE AUDIENCE IS .....for a lack of better word, stupid.

Minor B's performance seemed like such a mess, they didn't feel like a team at all? not to mention the rapping was so so so bad, worse than sm level bad, and dahyun's singing was not great.

I was holding my breath during Minor A because their charisma just blew me away. Jiwon asdfghjkl, i prefer her over Minyoung tbh.

On another note, the holy J-trinity's voices were good, I'm was surprised, given that they've only ever showed their dancing.

It totally was a popularity contest, and JYP should have been smart and given himself the power to veto the crowd's voting or something. I'm laughing a little bit, though, because this was obviously recorded before knetz/voters dropped Dahyun like a hot potato, so I'm wondering how all those 'fans' of her's feel about their voting decisions now.

I think they really pulled it together, but.. yeah, it was just so disjointed. I think their saving grace was lowering the key of the song, otherwise Minyoung would have been in hot water all over again. Her rapping was decent for someone fluent in English, and Tzuyu's wasn't terrible, but lmao Dahyun's was basically just her gargling the words in her mouth.

They killed it omg. I was expecting a lot because they are my three fav performers, but they honestly delivered so much more than I was expecting. Like the other groups kind of followed this "vocal showcase, rap showcase*, dance break" formula, but they seemed like a real group and all contributed equally to each factor while still having parts where each one specifically got to shine. I'm still so impressed!!! (': Jiwon is an amazing singer, and is so much more stable and controlled than Minyoung and seems to have a much better grasp on the strengths and weaknesses of her voice? Yea, if I had to pick between the two I would definitely rather have Jiwon in the group.

She honestly hasn't done anything legitimately bad (as far as I know) it's just Knetz being fickle more than anything else. After her initial wave of popularity, they started making comments about how "fame hungry" and "sneaky" she seemed from ep2 onward - which I mean she definitely made her competitive side known w/ some of her comments and it's clear she really wants to debut but lol as per usual they took it way too far.

Then after ep4's Minor B mess where she and Minyoung ditched group practice for something like three days (although Dahyun was in the hospital for at least part of that time) the two of them started dropping like mad in the MILK polls - since ep4 Dahyun has dropped from having #1 on lockdown, to #4 - and Sana is very very close to overtaking her and making her #5

and yeah idk why people are berating her for that when she even had that massive bandage on her eye there's nothing wrong with her getting the treatment she needed unless perhaps she didn't even let the others know where she was but then maybe it was a sudden thing. the netz response to that just shows the kind of mindset people have about idols and how they should even be sacrificing their health :\

I think this only confirmed that even if you think Momo is boring and Natty more natural, Momo is the one that should be in a girl group for now.
Natty is just too young and it watching her in stage in a group makes it even more obvious and the things that maybe Momo can lack are compensated when she is in a group.
I was expecting a mess for all the groups so I'm really happy with how it turn out.

The show's stylists really seem to be trying to age Natty up w/ her hair and makeup but it's just working lol. She looked/sounded so out of place in this performance, and it would only be worse if she were performing with more girls.

On another note, her shoes in this performance and the fact that she switched from heels to sneakers in between her rehearsal and actual performance last episode lead me to believe she possibly has issues dancing in heels? Which I'm certainly not judging her for but that just makes me even more certain that she's way too young for the idol game right now.

So basically if the group debuts with Minor A and B right now I'm in and I have no interest in the current Major team/Sixteen Lineup before this episode

Major A was just not my type of performance and Major B was good but seemed YOUNG AS HELL...No ma'am

I literally saw nothing outside of these performances and the Eagle Dance ...which by the way did Major A jack Dahyun's Eagle dance though?

this confirms my belief that that these girls were meant to be in groups. I saw the solos and they weren't that impressive but the group performances are much more heartening that they might actually be debut ready

minor a was really good surprisingly. the members of minor a werent that great during the 4 episodes so far (esp momo, her dances always fell flat and she was just not that good)

i hope somi and jihyo debut, they have really grown out of their shell esp somi so bye @ people saying no to them. watch the show and then critique who should debut and who shouldnt.

its obvious that nayeon will debut but she just always comes across as a brat

at the start i cringed whenever sana tried to show something but now she is one of my favourites esp after the last episode where she told them how she felt. surprised at how well her and tzuyu sang tbh

i still love dahyun but ngl shes starting to come across as she really wants to be solo. reminds me of eunji in nine muses how her goal was always to end up solo and now shes doing nothing lol

I liked all the performances but I think the Minors pulled it out nicely.
Major A stuck to their strengths, but I think they could have tightened up and came a little harder.

Major B did great...but like...Natty and Somi...they really do sound too young/underdeveloped and I think that is the only reason I am not tying them with Minor A. Jihyo really got stuck doing a Kidz Bop number (I know someone else said that, I just couldn't think of how to explain it)

Minor A had all the best talents in their respective field. This also made me warm up to MoMo. I still don't care for her as a personality, but as a performer I love it. Also I think Jiwon works better in a group setting where all the responsibility isn't on her. And Chaeyoung is really proving to be a potential fave

Minor B were touched by an angel, because...Also if lowering the key was an option, why were they stressing over the drama? It just...

I also feel like the songs are chosen beforehand, because I doubt anyone really knew the nail in Keri's career coffin outside of a select few.
And thank God we finally heard the dancers sing, because I feel like this group is going to be half the dancers, and I just don't think I can sit through a group where we had to rely on three singers, and everyone mumbling a rap (sans Chaeyoung).

***i would also like to mention that Major B just sounds young like a kid bop version of the original song. Natty sounds like a little kid and I really hope she doesn't debut just yet. Her voice needs to mature a bit because I cringed every time it was her part. Like she is a great performer but her voice... Somi sounds young too but definitely not as young as Natty does. Thank goodness they had Jihyo in this team or else, I feel like I'm watching a really good talent show at some elementary.

I don't get where people say Momo is not a good performer, and she's a background dancer. I think off stage and on TV shows, she is a bland idol, unlike Dahyun's or Somi but she has a lot of charisma on stage. But being a star idol is more valued than a good performer. Suzy used to be bland as heck on stage, Hyoyeon, Sooyoung, and Taeyeon are the best performers on stage but it's Yoona in the middle.

I think Momo is actually one of the best idol dancers, maybe on par with BoA but her best dance routine is still the dance practice with Mina in the first episode.

I love the holy Japanese trinity and I hope they debut together.

Minyoung did better this episode than the first episode but she was still breathy, I think Jihyo and Jiwon is more than good enough to carry the group vocally especially when the sub vocals aren't bad.

JYP said Jungyeon has a more powerful voice, while Nayeon was more stable and safe. I prefer Nayeon's stable and safe vocal performance, didn't like Jungyeon's tone.

My ideal lineup is the Japanese trio, Jihyo, Nayeon, Jiwon, and Chaeyoung.

major a was ok, nothing special.

minor b was very good, i already suspected that mnet's editing was making it worse than it actually was. i knew that there was going to be a reversal. minyoung killed it. sana is not a good singer but she has charisma, tzuyu was great too. dahyun was invisible tho. she's unnecessary.

major b's performance was fun but ugh at the difference between jihyo and the others. jihyo was great but somi and natty can't sing for shit and their voices are so juvenile. jyp needs to stop pushing natty bc she literally sounds her age. it doesn't fit with ther others. and stop with the hairography.

minor a was so good! momo's voice!!! jiwon killed it. jyp would be a fool to eliminate any of the three, which he probably will sigh. i think they def chose the wrong song, keri hilson?? major b benefited from uptown funk which everyone knows. and mnet isn't shit for showing momo during major b's perf and natty during minor a's. stop this ffs.

But I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I love Sana's, Tzuyu's, and Momo's voices. Like, what?
I was not expecting to like their voices.

Major A and Minor A killed it, that is all.

Minor B was so so so disjointed and the rap nearly killed my ears, for reals. They took down the pitch so much, idek why there was the whole drama last week, even I could reach those notes easily without resorting to falsetto.

Jihyo is lovely, there was so much energy that it felt like some middle school talent show.

I watched the full episode already on the same dailymotion account that had episode 4 in the previous post.

Somi was so cute with her dad. And J-trio hung out and talked a bit about their relationship! Apparently they lived together while training, so that's why they're so close to each other.

I'm not a fan of Momo, but I REALLY hate the Natty-vs-Momo thing Mnet has forced. And not that I want Natty to not debut either, but Momo seems like she really beats herself up over 'failures' and works really damn hard so it sucks to see her like this.

Am really worried about Jihyo though. Her mom visited the house and made a comment about how if Jihyo had debuted earlier, she'd have been so 'pretty' but apparently she got stressed last year and gained weight very quickly. I think this weight issue is going to be something that plagues her even in the future and I hope she doesn't let those comments get to her and develop unhealthy habits.

If Minor A was the group that someone had to be eliminated from, that really sucks for JYP

i seem to be in the minority having really liked major a's perf. they worked well off each other and chaeryoung finally stood out to me.
i liked minor b but what was that rapping? and minyoung needs to sort her breathing out. dahyun was invisible and is seeming like she might not be made for a group, whereas i also finally noticed tzuyu more.
major b sounded uncomfortably juvenile. natty is great and it was lovely to see somi more confident- i think both of them will be brilliant in a few years, but i don't wanna see them debut now. i can't even see exactly where they'd fit into the k-pop industry currently and i don't want a group with the vibes they give rn as much as i love them. i adore jihyo, she is the dream leader and reallly deserves to debut now.
minor a were great and it would be wrong for any of them to go. :\ i didn't love the perf on a personal level but they're so professional. momo was just amazing and it was brilliant to see jiwon in her element. the bit where chaeyoung was talking about her confidence nearly made me cry. as for her, i think she'll shine more if she gets to write the raps for group songs. i'm nervous about next week.
