SM Releases Statement on Rumors of Victoria's Contract Termiation

On May 30th, SM Entertainment released a statement surrounding recent rumors in regards to f(x)’s Victoria requesting to terminate her contract with the agency.

As reported by Chinese media outlet Sohu, the agency stated, “First, the rumors surrounding Victoria’s contract termination are groundless. Victoria has never requested a contract termination from the company.”

The original rumors stated that Victoria requested for contract termination because SM Entertainment denied her wish of owning a personal studio in China. To this, the agency said, “As a strategy that helps SM become more localized in China, we have decided to utilize it flexibly. Taking after EXO’s Lay, we will help Victoria set up a personal studio for her activities in China.”

The agency continued, “The studio will be part of SM, and there will still be a full contract between SM and Victoria. SM will continue to fully support and facilitate Victoria’s activities in China.”

lol as i said in the other post, i really don't understand how these studios work. are they just an extension of SM in china? but at least i know that yixing's is still followed around by SM manager during his activities in China, so i guess it is.

from what i gathered is that studios are rly just management teams for celebs. in china it's common practise to have them as well as a larger agency backing you. it does not run like a recording studio or a separate company, but rly just a team of people you trust to help you navigate through your individual schedules. it's sorta of like your own entourage? if im getting the american entertainment terms right lol

i get that. but i want to know how much of sm people working there. is it really some people that Yixing's trusts so SM has much lesser/no grip on his activities there (which i find really hard to believe)? or is it SM sending small management team only works for Yixing in china, as a chinese company/studio, to make it easier for chinese companies/people to make a deal with yixing?

I think the celebrity has the freedom to choose who he wants in his studio with the approval of their agency of they have one. so in yixing's case, he can choose people from SM or w/n the industry to work with him, w/ the approval of SM.
