BoA Says It Must Have Been Disgusting to See Her Debut at Age 15

Seeing such young stars around her these days, BoA commented on her own past when she debuted at a young age.

In the upcoming episode of KBS′ Yoo Hee Yeol′s Sketchbook, BoA appeared as a guest, sharing that she meets a lot of really young juniors while on music programs.

"Once, this girl group member born in 1999 came up to me, saying she was my fan, and I was surprised. Since I debuted at age 15, that meant she was only 2 at the time."

She continued, "When I think about it now, I bet seeing me debut at age 15 was probably gross."

MC Yoo Hee Yeol then replied, "BoA at the time was very cool and amazing," as the audience erupted with applause.

The episode will air on May 29.

i don't think she literally means gross, right? just like, exaggerating about it somewhat? like "i can't believe there are people this young debuting now i can't believe i was that young people must've felt so old around me at the time" way. at least that's how i interpreted it (especially because she mentions the one idol being 2 in 1999 - that's more of a reality check "god you make me feel old" thing then a "you're a gross child" thing to me).

People (myself included) are always commenting on how young XYZ idols are, how weird it is, how it makes us feel old. I feel like she probably means the same. It must have been strange for people watching her back when she debuted, thinking that she was so young. Especially since it was before kpop really exploded and everyone wanted to get in on the train and you have tons of new idols all the time. Gross is kind of a strange word but I do sort of wrinkle my nose when I see kids not even out of high school dedicating their life to this sort of stuff.

disgusting is way too harsh of a translation, the context is more like "i must looked been really weird debuting at the age of 15"
she was talking about looking at her juniors, who were like 2 at the time of her debut and how they look so damn young in her eyes and wonder if people thought of her like that when she was 15.
