While a report was released stating that Ladies’ Code is preparing for a comeback after a tragic car accident last year, which resulted in the deaths of two members, EunB and RiSe, the group’s agency Polaris Entertainment has denied such rumors.

On May 29, an affiliate of Polaris Entertainment revealed, “The agency is suggesting that Ladies’ Code should resume their activities for the benefit of the members. The exact date or plan is yet to be decided but it looks like they will make a comeback soon.”

However, officials of the agency denied such reports and told news source TV Daily, “There were no discussions about Ladies’ Code’s comeback this year. The comeback would make more sense if we have some kind of framework, but we have nothing yet. As of right now, only the agency’s workers are discussing it among themselves.”

The officials also gave updates on the members, Sojung, Ashley, and Zuny, saying, “Everything is okay with them but they’re still continuing their psychotherapy since the accident. Nevertheless, the three girls are bright and well, mainly staying in their dorm or practice room.

In related news, it was announced that Ladies’ Code will be holding a “RiSe & Eunbi Memorial Concert” on August 22 at Tokyo, Japan.

Polaris Entertainment confirmed this news saying that performing in Japan, RiSe’s hometown, was one of her wishes.

During an interview that Ladies’ Code did in the past, they were asked what is one dream they want to achieve as singers. RiSe answered, “I want to perform in a big stadium, like the one in Yokohama, Japan. I want to hold a concert in a place filled with fans.”

WHAT exactly does a memorial concert consist of??? Will the other girls be there?? Is it okay for them to be there ie will they be able to handle it?
I just hope they're doing well and are safe. I still think about rise and eunbi a lot.

This is going to be problematic. I do think they should be able to come back as a group if they want to, but the company better not use a tragedy that killed two young woman as a marketing strategy in any way. Right now it feels like it's too soon...

It so does feel like a marketing strategy

I'm glad they're trying to honour Rise, I didn't expect this from Polaris at all.

I hope we'll hear from the girls themselves soon though.

I was never into this group but what happened to them was a tragedy and I do hope and pray the rest of the girls are able to go on with their lives in time. This just doesn't sit well with me it's too early for any type of homage to the deceased members and it makes me think "marketing strategy". I truly hope their company doesn't try to use their deaths as promotion. IMO if those girls were close at all (which I don't doubt) they won't be ready for something like a memorial concert this soon.

I don't know whether I'm mindlessly worrying because this is their first event in awhile but I just hope Sojung, Ashley and Zuny are okay. As much as I miss them, it feels a little soon for a comeback but as long as the girls are okay...

Holding a concert would feel kind of inappropriate to me?

fuck i read the last paragraph and started crying.

i'm not sure if planning a comeback and a concert so soon is a good idea. i think the girls' therapist(s) should have a say in this. what if it has a bigger negative impact on the girls than even they themselves could expect?

im really worried about this but if its what rise wanted and the other girls are okay with it (as well as all families) my opinions dont matter :|
like ive said time and time again I just want the girls to remain in therapy and recover as best as they can for themselves.

It's hard to gauge things because we don't know how the girls feel about it, maybe they feel really strongly about having a memorial concert for them. It seems too soon but it's hard to judge when we don't know everyone's opinion. :( I'm glad that it seems they're being taken care of.

With them, I'm at the point where I want them to have whatever they want and if this is what they want to do then they should.

a memorial concert... without any new songs? i mean, returning to the stage is going to be hard enough i'm sure, but if they had to sing rise and eunb's lines... well. i hope not

At first I pondered why the concert was in Japan... but now, well, it makes sense.

it's hard to judge as an outsider whether it's "too soon" or "not appropriate" because i think everybody deals differently with death, everybody seems to feel differently about what people would want us to do once gone~ etc. and it should ultimately be up to the girls to decide without any pressure from anyone. i was never a fan but i do wish them the best and i hope they're recovering well.

Apparently this concert was organized by Rise's family because her sister, Riae, updated about it some hours ago. I also saw the (kinda official) Japanese fanclub tweeting about it so I guess the memorial concert is set up by Rise's family and fans together. It will be held in the Shinagawa Prince Stellar Ball, which is, judging from pics, a rather small venue. Which means Polaris did not organize it and probably is just casually involved in this.

I think it's gonna be a really intimate "concert". And as far as I know it hasn't been confirmed yet if Ashley, Sojung and Zuny will attend the concert and if they do, if they will sing. I also doubt they will sing their own songs. I want to believe that rather than a concert this is gonna be a memorial ceremony for family, friends and fans to commemorate Rise and Eunbi.

Polaris btw denied comeback rumours, saying it's still way too early.
On the one hand I trust Polaris to help the girls but on the other hand I am scared they will mediaplay with the fact that Ladies' Code lost two of their members.

aww, that's really sweet of her sister. that sounds like a great idea. glad to hear that's gonna be in a more intimate venue. tbh if the other girls do participate, i hope it's because they want to and not bc they were forced.

polaris has handled them well since the accident and im just scared that they'll fuck it up at some point and exploit their loss.

this extra information is very reassuring. it looks like polaris is still handling this whole thing well--for the moment at least. let's hope that continues

im glad to hear that with every update, it seems to be like "oh, they're continuing with their recovery and staying in the dorm and practice room (which to me sounds more like giving them a sense of normalcy rather than being pushed to work)." im really surprised with how polaris has handled ladies code.

i miss them as five and tbh, i still dont think of rise and eunb being gone when i listen to their songs. i think reality will really start to sink in when sojung/ashley/zuny come out and sing as three.

polaris is handling this so well, i hope they just aren't going to market off of anything
the girls should just take it easy, they shouldn't have to attend the concert if they are not ready

I don't see it as a ploy, but a genuine step into the healing process and transition. It's not like they can jump back in without acknowledging the lose of Eunbi or Risae. This will be good for fans too.

Eunbi's wish was for one of their songs to win a top award, which they were given at one of those end of the year award shows + I'm Fine was downloaded 400k times so now they're making one of Risae's wishes come true too.

I've got a feeling no matter how much time passes, this story is always gonna feel particularly tender.

On another note, I wish people would stop talking about how CLC's Seungyeon looks like Risae. The comparison was okay at first but I don't want her to be called Risae's look-a-like forever and I find it awkward.

Memorial concerts are a common thing, just not in kpop because there haven't been a ton of deaths (fortunately!). As others have said, what's most important is that the other girls are ready for it.

By the time the concert happens, it will have been about a year since the accident. There's no precise timeline for grieving and recovery, but a year doesn't seem like a time that's "too soon" to have a memorial concert if the parties involved are ok with it.
