i haven't watched this episode yet but i've already been spoiled. can jyp seriously stop with blocking momo? she is a better dancer than natty. natty is fun and all but momo hits the moves cleanly and she's a more powerful dancer. plus natty was born in freaking 2003. and the worst is, she looks her age. she stands out in a bad way. at least somi (who's two years older) looks like she was born in the late 90s (must be those white genes jk). i'm really worried about momo now.
imo he should leave the kids who were born in 2000 and later for the next group. plus aren't there now age restrictions for idols? hence yeri debuting now, not last year? jyp def wants to debut the girls next year, so it doesn't make much sense to have the younger kids in now.
yeah it's really obvious that netizens are just voting for the pretty girls. tzuyu jumped up in the ranking without doing nothing lol. as long as sana is there idc, although it's hilarious to see nayeon dropping constantly. imo this group needs jihyo and jiwon.
#TeamJapan loyalty, tho. They seem pretty close and I doubt anyone really wants to go up against their close friends until they have to - like I'd be genuinely surprised if Momo/Mina/Sana and the 6mix quartet were to challenge each other until more girls have been eliminated.

Eh...four episodes in and I am already over it. This whole MoMo vs Natty thing is just tired, and it's only been a thing just now. I'll be honest and say that I mostly agree with the judges on their opinions about them two. MoMo is bland. MoMo is pretty, and talented, but she is boring. Like everyone wants to hype her up as the shit, and I just...well there are many background dancers who can do what she does. Natty comes off as a much better performer and her performance in this episode proved that to me. But she is just far too young. I feel like we might see her for a little bit more and then she is going to suddenly start doing badly to get eliminated. To be honest I would just rather have Chaeryoung as the dancer, because she is just as good, is around the normal age for debuting (like 14)...and I like her. But she not relevant to the narrative of the show so she sits on the sidelines for the most part. But they will probably pull her out too so she can debut with her sister. Chaeyoung getting demoted is eh. I mean I am all for Jihyo being a major because the reason she got demoted was incredibly fucked up, contrite and they couldn't even tell her to her face (sans the photoshoot moment),but I thought they were pretty even performance wise, with Chaeyoung doing slightly better because Jihyo chose a song with a chorus that goes absolutely nowhere.But this finally made Chaeyoung relevant to anything so...there's that. I really don't like the show's format for the most part. I mean the major vs minor thing is eh, on top of an elimination. I think they should probably do like most survival shows and have a small mission before the big one, just to keep them on their toes. Plus it doesn't even seem like they get a full day to rest before moving on. This show does a lot to try to subvert a lot of how the idol training process. Like this show makes me look past MoMo when in reality there is nothing wrong with her. She doesn't have to have a personality or any sort of spark because someone else in the group would handle that. Nayeon is calculated, but shit so are 98% of the rest of idols, and that other 2% stay completely aware of what they are doing as well. Like I don't find anything wrong with most of these girls but the show makes it seem like there is a problem. I don't know how to explain it. Also they should be doing group challenges all the time. Pinpointing who works well with who should have been the damn priority from the jump, but whatever.

I did not want to offend anyone and that why I did not say it, but I also have that feeling when I see Momo, like yes, she is a very good dancer maybe the best in the show, but a "star"? I dom't feel it. Natty on the other hand, I can't see her on the back, she is made to be on the front but not now, she is still too young.
I also want Chaeryoung to be the dancer of the group, she is likeable, have the technique that Natty still need to polish and the star quality I don't see on Momo, I don't even gonna compare her with Dahyun/Sana.

team japan all the way tbh why are they stuck in jyp, they could've made it to e-girls or something. tho ldh is a mess and akb is on decline, so i guess maybe being in korea is better for them?

like ffs there's an easy solution: "i didn't realise it would be a problem for you three, let's pick another song" is she really that obstinate that she'd do a song where she can't reach the notes just because she volunteered it?
One on One:: I felt bad that Minyoung lost, but I was really happy that Somi got to stay in Major. Mina did well trying a new style of dance and she looked super confident, which helped her a lot. EunSuh however, forgot one of the moves in her choreo, which did not help her at all and I think that’s the reason she lost. Jihyo vs Chaeyoung was a really tough battle because both of them did well and really showcased their strengths. I was happy that Jihyo won because I love her, but I hope Chaeyoung goes back to Major soon because she’s done well all competition and deserves to be there.
When Natty cried I started to tear up as well because the trainee process is really hard, especially on foreign trainees who are so far away from their families and Natty is so young. ;~;
On a less personal note, I was not happy that Natty beat Momo. Momo is clearly the stronger dancer and Natty’s choreo is all over the place imo.
I wasn’t surprised that Eunsuh got eliminated. I’m a little sad thought. I really wanted her to stand out in this round since I thought she would be gone last week, but now she doesn’t have chance to showcase her talents.
Team Battle:
Major A: Putting Nayeon, Chaeryeong, Jungyeon, and Mina together was an interesting choice. And picking “Happy” which was a great decision because you don’t need to have the best vocals to sing it.
Major B: Jihyo, Somi, and Natty was another interesting choice. All of them have great stage presence and they picked Bruno Mars’s Uptown Funk as their song so I’m sure they’ll do well.
Minor A: I felt bad that the coaches did not like Jiwon, Momo, and Chaeyoung. I feel like they balance each other really well. I blame their song choice.
Minor B: Dahyun, Sana, Minyoung, and Tzuyu. Ugh this team. First off their song choice was a horrible decision. Minyoung is the only good vocalist in their team, and she cracked frequently during her one on one battle. They should have picked a song that was good for all of them instead of relying on Minyoung to do everything by herself. I was mad that Dahyun and Minyoung did not show up for practice for several days (though I wasn’t too hard on Dahyun because she had to go to the hospital). Their performance was horrible and I don't even blame Sana for being pissed. If Sana or Tzuyu get eliminated next week because of the lack of practice I will be furious because they at least tried.
My Ideal Line Up After This Episode: Somi, Jihyo, Sana, Chaeyoung, Dahyun, Mina, and Momo.
I just checked the polls again, and Minyoung and Jiwon are in 14th and 13th place, respectively. wth do knetz expect this group to do? Jihyo's got a good voice, but she can't carry the group alone, and we haven't heard any of the dancers sing yet.
I like how Natty dances way more than Momo. Momo is good technically but lacks her own color/charisma. Obviously Natty won't be chosen in this show (age and all) but she will be seriously unstoppable in few years.
WHAT THE ACTUAL EFF IS THIS BIAS AGAINST QUEEN MOMO?! Her dancing is on par if not better than most main dancers in current girl groups. Natty is good, but vastly overrated by jyp imo. Not to mention she's so young?

Chaeryeong is a little wunderkind but she blends into the background so easily when she isn't performing and she really does look her age, not to mention I still really want her to debut with her sister. She could benefit from a couple more years to grow before she debuts.
Nayeon really grew on me this episode, with her comforting Momo and Nayeon. I still don't think her attitude is strictly the edit, and I'm not entirely sold on her as a performer, but I think she's just Slytherin af and I might be able to come to enjoy that if she debuts.
Jungyeon... idk. I like Jungyeon and then I don't. I don't get the hype??? But she has a good vibe about her and a decent voice, and is definitely a good support figure for the other girls.
Jiwon is so cute and I hope she can come through and garner some confidence, because that like super stressed out face she makes whenever she's performing or receiving criticism kills me a little.
I still think Chaeyoung is/was being groomed to be Lena's replacement, but I like her a lot now that she's had some screentime to show her personality.
I love love love Sana, and seeing this new side of her were she stuck up for herself was really nice to see - it would have been so easy for her to keep being optimistic and become a bit of a pushover, but she stood her ground and told Minyoung/Dahyun what was up.
I love sweet Swan Lake Princess Mina - between her photoshoot and this performance, I think there's a ~darker~ side to her that I would enjoy seeing more of, especially since she comes off so sweet and soft-spoken and sensitive most of the time.
Dahyun and Minyoung both lost a lot of points with me this episode - Minyoung because of her attitude, and Dahyun because idk... she comes off a little phony to me sometimes? I don't really know how to word it, exactly. I think she may be more competitive/cutthroat/cockier than Nayeon, but she's just better at hiding it.
I probably sound like a jerk saying Natty is my least favorite, but she's my least favorite. I just think she is way too young, and over-hyped - probably because of her youth - and I just don't understand why the idea of her being in the group is even being entertained because it's not gonna happen lol - and if it does happen, it's probably a sign that my days with Kpop are numbered. If I wanted 12 y/os in my pop music, I'd go listen to kidzbop.
All the Momo vs Natty is giving me all kind of feels. Too many points. First, I'm proud of Momo this week, because in her first dance she just made a choreography in a really mathematical way (I don't know how to say it) and this time she did sooo much better. For the other part, I agree with the judges that Natty is really natural. But I feel they are letting her age get in their heads and are giving more points to Natty just because she is younger and they're surprise. Momo is better and that is obvious and the only thing that they're going to get is people hating Natty. Momo is clearly more suited for a girl group, at least for now. All that say, I'm 80% sure that JYP knew before the show who is going to be in the group and he is only doing this so the girls gain popularity. So if he wanted Momo, Momo will be there at the end.
i don't enjoy momo's dancing......but she's better than natty. natty's first self-choreographed dance was pretty good, but this one was terrible, facial expressions and all. nagl :( i didn't get the fuss. momo is a technically better dancer and she's pretty, plus japan line. we all need a good japan line.
minyoung really made me mad.....she's really invested in herself this episode, which i understand because she messed up and she's supposed to be one of the two strongest singers, but she just went awol for the practices. how do you expect to do well as a team? i hope her team loses just to hammer it home that she'll be in a group. currently she and dahyun seem to be more focused on improving themselves. teamwork is important.
tzuyu is just there for me, but i hope she and sana (baby ♥) don't get penalised for dahyun and minyoung's mistakes, because they don't deserve it.
i love somi but she was terrible. i don't get you gain. i don't get you. but then you redeemed yourself by picking jihyo. ♥ though tbh chaeyoung was super great too.
i have been informed that somi is 14 and therefore my desire to put her in twice has waned a little. maybe as the maknae?

I've done a complete 180 on Chaeyoung since the first two episodes tbh. At first her and Eunsuh were the two I kept forgetting about and now she just shines imo. I like her sensibility a lot so far and she's entertaining. I would really love to see her and Jungyeon in the same group idk why.
Speaking of Eunsuh, I liked her dance (up until she forgot) waaaaay more than Mina's. She's a big example of how sloppy this show is to me. We never got to know anything about her. At least Chaeyeon got a few soundbites here and there.
I got soooo excited when JYP mentioned Jihyo being a great leader (and I really hope him saying that + grouping her with Somi and Natty = foreshadowing). She has the best attitude of the four that were set to debut.
Also I'm going to need to hear a bit of singing from some of these girls before the show is over. There are groups like Mamamoo out there I think we're past debuting groups where only half the people can even hold a tune.
Jihyo is by far my favorite candidate for leader. She kind of gives me Sunye vibes a little bit? Just with how long she's been training, and how good she is with the other girls. I hate to quote San E, but when he mentioned that she seemed more like an MC than a contestant, that really struck me - she just seems really well-spoken and comfortable during all of her explanations and talking heads, much more so than most of the other girls.
I actually don't like Natty's choreo. I can clearly tell she is a god dancer and everything but all her dance moves are so obvious to the lyrics which is right up JYP's ally. But she does a move for every word of the song and it just looks like a big jumble to me.
AND WHAT IS MINYOUNG DOING? Why suggest a song that you don't think you can do in a survival show the stakes your debut? Like she could have chose another song. She makes herself seem greedy for airtime and spotlight because her parts are the highlights of the song.
I need team Japan to debut together. How fantastic would their dance performance be?
This show's format is a hot mess! Most of these ladies are only performing one talent but JYP should be looking for all-over characteristics for a sucessful girl group. As much as everyone hated YG pitting his boy band members against each other, they were forced to show their versatility and how well they worked together in teams with different people.
Momo vs. Natty - I think Momo is a better technical dancer but Natty has more star quality and can connect with her audience better. Natty is just so friggin' young so I prefer Momo (plus, I'm pretty sure Momo is a MUCH better singer if that was her voice in her teaser).
so i decided to watch this yesterday on a whim and am really enjoying it though i usually find elimination shows upsetting. but i think it's a good and fair enough system to have the "losers" debut later the performances in this ep were great! i really like pretty much all the girls in one way or another. i'll be attached to the group that debuts no matter who's in it gain's momo choice was interesting because i think she was right in that momo would fit a group better but jyp seems to be picking the girls that convey more feeling individually. i kinda like it. but it'll be interesting to see how the final group works as a unit still, everyone really does shine in their own way. i'm looking forward to more eps i just wish the show were less messily edited... and there are a lot of problems with it such as the scriptedness and having people like natty there. it's annoying bc i'll be really surprised if he does debut her. she's great but just too young. so the whole thing's a bit of a farce but whatever. i'm really excited for the next challenge and think it's a good choice as right now i'm not sure how people are gonna mesh into being a group

Date: 2015-05-29 12:09 am (UTC)minyoung really made me mad.....she's really invested in herself this episode, which i understand because she messed up and she's supposed to be one of the two strongest singers, but she just went awol for the practices. how do you expect to do well as a team? i hope her team loses just to hammer it home that she'll be in a group. currently she and dahyun seem to be more focused on improving themselves. teamwork is important.
tzuyu is just there for me, but i hope she and sana (baby ♥) don't get penalised for dahyun and minyoung's mistakes, because they don't deserve it.
i love somi but she was terrible. i don't get you gain. i don't get you. but then you redeemed yourself by picking jihyo. ♥ though tbh chaeyoung was super great too.
i have been informed that somi is 14 and therefore my desire to put her in twice has waned a little. maybe as the maknae?
my ideal lineup is now probably: jihyo, jungyeon, chaeyoung, mina, sana, nayeon/dahyun/momo, jiwon. jiwon is super cute and they need a vocal aside from jihyo. she just needs to build her confidence up
otherwise maybe jihyo, jungyeon, chaeyeong, mina, sana, momo, somi? that'd be a weird group though :(

Date: 2015-05-29 12:45 am (UTC)Speaking of Eunsuh, I liked her dance (up until she forgot) waaaaay more than Mina's. She's a big example of how sloppy this show is to me. We never got to know anything about her. At least Chaeyeon got a few soundbites here and there.
I got soooo excited when JYP mentioned Jihyo being a great leader (and I really hope him saying that + grouping her with Somi and Natty = foreshadowing). She has the best attitude of the four that were set to debut.
Also I'm going to need to hear a bit of singing from some of these girls before the show is over. There are groups like Mamamoo out there I think we're past debuting groups where only half the people can even hold a tune.

Natty is just so friggin' young so I prefer Momo (plus, I'm pretty sure Momo is a MUCH better singer if that was her voice in her teaser).

gain's momo choice was interesting because i think she was right in that momo would fit a group better but jyp seems to be picking the girls that convey more feeling individually. i kinda like it. but it'll be interesting to see how the final group works as a unit
still, everyone really does shine in their own way. i'm looking forward to more eps i just wish the show were less messily edited... and there are a lot of problems with it such as the scriptedness and having people like natty there. it's annoying bc i'll be really surprised if he does debut her. she's great but just too young. so the whole thing's a bit of a farce but whatever. i'm really excited for the next challenge and think it's a good choice as right now i'm not sure how people are gonna mesh into being a group
i looove jihyo and somi's so sweet but needs to improve. i also really like jungyeon and chaeyoung. i do really like natty but she is just too young to debut now and i guess you could say that for somi too. tzuyu and mina have yet to really stand out for me. minyoung's been annoying this past ep even though she's clearly one of the strongest singers, which they're going to need some of, and they were harsh on her. i definitely prefer jiwon over her, however, and just desperately hope she ups her confidence. ): i was just trying to remember who dahyun was and realised her 1v1 performance was my fave of the three omg. chaeryeong needs more screentime, she's good but i won't mind if she gets kicked out and debuts with her sis. i like sana a lot as a person and a performer, momo as the latter, though even there she's kinda bland idk. and i'm not sure how to feel about nayeon. i'm 50/50 about wanting her in the group.
so is the final group gonna be seven? i guess my ideal line-up is: jihyo, jiwon, jungyeon, chaeyoung, dahyun, sana, momo
