I love the girl, I really do, but I'll never understand a) why she went for an acting degree when she seems like a bit of an intellectual person who wants to become a diplomat eventually and b) how she completed an entire degree in acting and didn't gain any discernible acting skills in the process :/ her self-consciousness gives me second-hand embarrassment every time, even if it's just a tiny bit of acting in a music video. I'm rooting for her, believe me, but the acting thing is not her forte :(

same! seohyun is my bias in snsd (even though i don't like them that much anymore) and i love her to death, but i really don't get it. at first i thought sm made her, but i doubt she'd let them decide her major. i never saw her express any passion for acting before she got into university. maybe she thought that there was no way for her to do anything not related to the entertainment industry after snsd? idek. all i know is that she's just so damn awkward. her "acting" in holler gave me so much second hand embarrassment, and from what i've seen she's bad in musicals and that drama she did too. i do wonder if things would be different if she had taken suzy's role in introduction to architecture

i heard she was fairly decent in gone with the wind though. I mean I don't expect stellar reviews, but from what I've heard she seemed to surprise people .

I think her ultimate goal is to be a musical actress hence the the theatre major. She seems to atleast be putting the most effort in that in terms of training etc. It's definitely not her forte but i figure with practice she will eventually get there just like with other things.

Yeah, it makes sense from a pragmatic perspective of wanting to stay in the entertainment industry post-SNSD, but not really given the amount of time and effort a degree takes and her complete lack of acting skills...obviously she might just really love acting but, as you said, she never indicated much of an interest in drama prior to her degree but did talk about international relations and diplomacy and such. Maybe she'll go back to higher education at 35 or something and retrain in IR, I don't know.

I'm glad you agree with me and I didn't offend you! She really is a lovely girl but the acting thing is just so strange to me and it's really disheartening to see that she's just as awkward as ever when she tries to act. Her voice has been steadily improving since 2007 and she looks like she's having more fun on stage and is less robotic, but any time a bit of acting comes into play, it's painful :(

I can translate some of it. So the guy who's talking a lot is a PD for some show and he's like "Oh, it's Girls' Generation. If they knew I was here, they'd probably be pretty happy to see me (cos we're close friends), but there's a lot of people here, so let's not bother them," and then Taeyeon says, "The PD from ... show? He was here? I didn't notice."
