2PM has run into trouble with its production staff after they ran into problems regarding their comeback music video shoot.


On May 11th, JYP Entertainment posted on their official website, "Hello. This is JYP Entertainment."

"2PM was planning to release their music video on June 1st, however 4 days ago Dexter Lab Production’s director Han Sa Min told us ‘Due to my personal relationship with an artist making a release at the same time I cannot shoot their music video.’ The one-sided announcement put an abrupt halt on 2PM’s production."

"Also on the same day, director Kim Ji Yong of Fantasy Lab told us suddenly that he would be discontinuing the shoot of GOT7’s music video."

"Due to their irresponsible actions, the schedules that were made with consideration of our artists’ busy schedule now has to be remade from shooting date, album release, and marketing strategy."

"We plan to take severe legal action against the irresponsible actions of the two production companies and the damages they have caused. We apologized to the fans because we know how much you have been all waiting. We will do our best to never let something like this happen again."

Extremely unprofessional on the production companies' part. If there was a conflict of interest to begin with, why didn’t they just decline the job in the first place? At the end of the day, it's business and they just fucked their clients for personal reasons.

That is so unprofessional. I hope other companies see this and don't use them. You can't just cancel a planned shoot because someone else you favorite has a comeback date. That is the stupidest thing I have heard. JYP better sue.

I don't even want to bring Big Bang into the picture because I feel like both companies are confident enough in both of their artists to not feel threatened by the other. And besides, there's nothing wrong with healthy competition.

I'm more pissed at the fact that now that they canceled the shoot, literally less than a week before it's supposed to happen, it screws up all of their promotional schedule. Their concert dates, which I'm sure people have already started planning for are now up in the air. Not to mention the fact that 2PM's schedule are most likely planned to the minute to make sure things are done in a way that allows them to do as much as they can. I was already shocked as it is that their comeback is the day after they wrap up their Japanese tour. I don't even know what this delay is going to mean for everything else they have planned for them.

Already see people blaming this on Big bang and YG, which is bullshit cause fantasylab has never worked with yg as far as I know of. Han sa min work with a lot of YG artists, but big bang is working with someone else for their next MVs.

Either way it's unprofessional, but people break contracts all the time. They will probably pay a fee and move on (depends on the contract tho), nothing as serious as being exiled from the industry. Kinda dodgy how both bailed at roughly the same time

the director for got7 mv released a statement that there wasn't any contract nor a meeting confirming their work together, and that only contact with jyp was when jyp asked them to make a mv for got7 and the next day the production company refused because it doesn't quite fit their concept and isn't confident in producing a good mv.

in addition the director suggested that jyp could've thought it got screwed over because 2pm director canceled on them on the same day but as far as kim ji yong (of fantasia, who was contacted for got7 mv) is concerned he claims innocence in his part and that he had no obligation to uphold anything since well, there wasn't really anything.

This is really strange.
The director's reason is so unprofessional - which makes it stranger. You cancel just because you have connection with other artist that makes same comeback time? How ridiculous.

If JYPE releasing the statement, means they have real contract with Han San Min, right - JYPE's PR team is not the best team in Korea, but they are not that stupid to make statement without having a real legal contract, right?

To say that 2PM delaying because they are worried with BB's new song is ridiculous too. People are already well aware with BB's plan - and if JYPE is delaying this, they are more at loss - rescheduling everything costs a lot.

well it kinda goes against the business ethics to work for two competitors at the same time so the reason is valid, it's just that if what jyp claims is true that they had a contract and the production company broke it, they need to take it to the court. the thing is they shouldn't have had a contract in the first place if the company knew they were working with a different group promoting around the same time.

han sa min just released his statement (very brief) that he doens't understand why stuff like this is even publicized since pre-discussions like this happen and fall through all the time. he's afraid that there are official statement claiming to sue and the article follow ups when there was no official contract signed and filming dates never determined. he doesn't know wtf is going on with the other director, not his business. frankly, he doesn't really want to respond to anything.

so jyp claims that the two production companies promised to make mv for them, and the directors (both of them) are claiming that the deal stopped mid-discussion and there was no concrete contract ever

Oh great, more people dragging BB and YG for someone else's decision. I highly doubt any of the boys or YG himself sat there twisting the arms of these guys to get them to cancel.

Edit: Read through the comments above mine and yeah, so not here for netizens automatically jumping on the pointing fingers train when YG isn't even using either director for BB's MV next month.

Han Sa Min and Dextor Lab Prod. has directed a total of 21 MVs for YG family so far. By the looks of it he hasn't even directed any MVs outside of YG or it's just not in the lists. At this point for collaborating you become friends and we could say they are part of YG family production vise. So I don't see anything wrong with him deciding to not direct a MV for 2PM. I mean I would do the same if I was in their shoes. Sure, he is not directing BB's May MVs based on what was released by YG today but you never know - maybe they changed it when this whole crap broke out.
I also read that he didn't even agree to film MV for 2PM and they were still considering and discussing. But maybe when they released all those '2PM vs BB' articles yesterday he felt bad and decided he wants to stay faithful to the company that gives him constant work and are his friends? If he had a contract and then bailed out - it's not cool man, you're a d*ck. But so far it seems that it was not the case and JYP is kind of being butthurt about the whole thing calling him out for just changing his mind on mid-discussion.
