The Ark Tenasia ‘My Name’ Interview

My name is Jeon Minju. Precious stone (珉) Min and pillar (柱) Ju. I’m the leader of the group in charge of dance, performance, vocal and Japanese. I also recently started learning the guitar.

I was born on the 8th of September, 1994. I’m 22 years old. I was a trainee for 8 years. During that time I gained a lot of broadcast experience and learned know how for the stage so I feel like I can lead our team well.

I was a trainee for a long time. Since every trainee goes through the same hardships, I don’t think people realize it was harder for me as it was a long time. There were times when my body wasn’t well and I’d think ‘Maybe I should stop here’. Thinking about my parents and members who believed in me, I thought it would be a waste to give up after going through so much.

I’m self-learning guitar. I thought it looked fun. Whenever I have time I play chords on the guitar. I used to really love nail art but as I’m learning guitar now I can’t do my nails anymore.

My role model is BoA. She started singing at a very young age. There’s a lot I can learn from her about dancing and singing, and she has a lot of force for such a small body.

I want to try acting if there’s an opportunity. Serious acting seems like it will be too hard at the moment so I want to start with small roles in a sitcom and go from there.

Minju-ya. You’ve learned a lot through your long trainee period. That long time wasn’t meaningless as it has helped you a lot. Even though it’s only the start now, many people support and love you so gain confidence and continue working hard.

My name is Yuna Kim. My name is the same in English and Hangul. I’m in charge of rap, vocals, ‘kkap’ and variety in our group. My hometown is New York.

I was born on the 27th of October, 1994. I’m 22 years old. I was a trainee for about 2~3 years. My mother recently came to South Korea from the US to see me. She always talks to me about the stage and supports me.

My image on ‘Superstar K3′ was bright and cheeky but surprisingly I’m also calm and feminine. When I want to be feminine I’m really feminine and when I want to be powerful I’m really powerful. I have lots of different colors.

I like basketball. As there’s no time lately I haven’t been able to, but I used to enjoy playing basketball at the park.

Yoon Mi Rae is my role model. There’s no words for her as a rapper or as a singer, her family-orientated personality is nice too.

I have a lot of interest in a collaboration. I also want to appear on a variety show like SBS ‘Running Man’ or KBS2 ‘Happy Together’. I don’t have any thoughts of acting at the moment but seeing the other members do it might make me curious in the future.

Yuna-ya, you worked hard. You want to show a lot to the public, so work hard and gain confidence to expand your wings and conquer the stage. Always be an exemplary unnie to the team and take care of the dongsaengs. Live each day with a positive mind. Fighting.

My name is Jung Yujin. Have (有) Yu and treasure (珍) Jin. I was born in Incheon but I grew up in Yongin. I’m the groups main vocal.

I was born on the 6th of September, 1996. I’m 20 years old. I was only a trainee for half of a year and then debuted as The Ark. As I trained for a short time I’m more awkward than the other members at expressions and stage manners. I’ve researched a lot by watching other idol groups stages.

I have an unexpected 4D personality. I look like the type to not talk much but the day I first met the members I did a handstand and they were all taken aback.

My role models are IU and Kim Kwang-Seok. IU has a nice personality and seems like she has deep thoughts. I feel comfortable when listening to Kim Kwang-Seok’s music. I want to be like them.

As a main vocal I don’t have much interest in acting but I want to be acknowledged for my singing. I want to try composing and lyric writing too. I want to appear on a singing program like KBS2 ‘Immortal Song’.

Yujin-ah, this is your biggest opportunity in life no matter how you look at it. As you’ve been dreaming of this since childhood continue to work even harder. Remember that there’s nothing you can’t do if you put in the effort. Also live life every day a little bit brighter.

My name is Halla. The meaning is to attract the power of the galaxy. My real name is Lee Suji. I’m the visual and in charge of dance.

I was born on the 20th of March, 1998. I’m 18 years old. I was born in Busan, my hometown is Daegu. I was a trainee for 2 years. In addition to singing and dancing I have a specialty in Chinese.

Halla’s first impression is an innocent and kind image but through that there’s also charismatic eyes. Minju thought ‘There’s something about her’.

I put in a lot of effort. I learned a lot from Jane who trained with me. I also become better at dancing through Minju.

I used to see movies every week but as there’s no time lately I don’t have a hobby. I’m also interested in nail art. Whenever I’m bored or want to relieve stress I want to focus on something else so I started that.

My role model is Jun Ji Hyun. She was especially good with her role as Chun Song Yi in ‘You Who Came From The Stars’. I have a lot of interest in acting so I want to learn to be natural like her.

I like action movies too. I learned Taekwondo when I was younger for a little bit. I want to act in an action movie full of thrills. I also like romantic comedies.

Halla-ya, you’ve done well so far but there’s still a lot lacking so continue to work hard in the future. Be modest and thing about the people around you. Let’s also gain self-confidence by working hard day to day.

My name is Cheon Jaein. Load (載) Jae and Tiger (寅) In. As the group’s maknae I’m in charge of singing, dancing, rap and English. I was on ‘Voice Korea Kids’.

I was born on the 23rd of November, 1999. I’m 17 years old. I was raised in Seoul. As I’m the type that makes a lot of mistakes when talking I’ve heard that if I go on variety I’ll either do really great or bad.

Jane’s first impression is bright and cute. When they first met Minju said ‘She’s from Kpop Star 2 right?’ and clapped. When Jane first met Halla she said ‘unnie I really like you’ and hugged her.

I have a lot of hobbies. I like drawing and I keep a diary. I like decorating. When I went to Singapore I drew everything that I saw. I also wrote and decorated the member’s doors at the dorm with their names.

My role model is Yoo Jae Suk. I’ve honestly never thought about it until now. I’ve never met him in real life but everyone around me says he’s a warm person that looks after everyone. He has a cool personality. He extends a helping hand to underprivileged people.

I have a lot I want to try. I want to try writing lyrics and composing, and even though I’ve never learned, acting seems fun. I want to appear on a food program like ‘Tasty Road’.

Jane-ah, it seems like you’re not trying your best. If you could show your all it’d be nice. You should also pay attention and look after the people around you more. You show easily when you’re tired (laughs). Be thankful to everyone and don’t lose your rookie mindset, keep going until the end.

Apparently Yuna was giving Benji looks during the live broadcast because he wasn't translating everything correctly lol. then proceeded to continue speak in Korean

This is the second street performance project they've done. it seems to be the same content as the last, but still as nice regardless. Kinda sad they didn't do the overdose beginning position, especially since i know they're capable of it, but they still rocked the dance. The girls also did a twitter reply spam with their fans. Their answers are really cute. ^^

I find it funny that in most groups I am a fan of, the main vocal trained the least/was a last minute input (b.a.p, exom, got7, and now the ark).
