BIG BANG previewed their new singles “Loser” and “Bae Bae” earlier this week at their world tour kickoff. And now fans have the full audio and visual experience.
In “Loser,” the K-pop phenoms fashionably wallow around Los Angeles in various states of depression. G-Dragon lays in the middle of an intersection, Taeyang gives himself a tattoo, Seungri trashes his room while Daesung and T.O.P both have breakdowns for the camera. All their sadness is based around a dissolving relationship (fitting with the track’s lyrics that detail unhappiness with one-night stands and forgetting the importance of love) as we watch T.O.P make out with a lingerie-clad lover and seconds later start arguing with her, while Daesung remembers his lady gifting him a bandana that’s yanked from him as he’s getting jumped in a parking lot.
It’s all rather heavy and way deeper than the last time we saw the guys parading around America via their Brooklyn-filmed “Bad Boy” vid. But, of course, the guys come out on top as they clean up and walk down a street together in new gear by the video’s end. Who needs a girl when you got your boys?
Things get even more wild in “Bae Bae.” This isn’t just the most sexual we’ve seen BIG BANG, it’s up there with the most sexual K-pop videos from a male group ever.
The trappy track’s visual kicks off with GD frolicking among and rubbing female mannequins — which is already rather risque for K-pop standards — but it’s T.O.P who, again, is deliciously shameless with his sexuality; thrusting his crotch at the camera and using an innuendo-heavy syringe to shoot a white liquid on his love interest’s face. Daesung and Seungri get hot and heavy with their respective love interests, but the whole group later chills with a pack of models on the moon as they’re fed snacks (and they lift up their skirts like playful boys).
Both sonically and visually, BIG BANG is proving that their three years away from the scene has matured them, but they’ve also kept their signature fun tendencies and pizzazz as there’s moments of adorableness that will make fans’ hearts flutter, like when Taeyang hi-fives a French bulldog or as the boys pose together in the last shot of “Bae Bae.”
“Loser” and “Bae Bae” are getting a remarkable amount of attention both worldwide and stateside. The two videos have already earned more than one million views on YouTube less than 12 hours after their unleashing. Meanwhile, “Loser” is hanging within the Top 60 on U.S. iTunes’ Top Songs chart.
