oh no. they've been dropped by universal? i guess it was just a 5-year deal, then.
maybe it's not such bad news, as they surely get more money through their own label than universal, but... we'll see how they will manage to actually promote their stuff without the backing of that label. i guess i have to say bye to amazingly styled japanese beast music videos.
And I think it's pretty cool to want creative control. Obviously, it wasn't a project they just came up with, I assume it has been in the works for a while. It hasn't been done before for a reason, so I guess we'll just see how it goes.
it was more like a rhetoric question, sorry. i pressed reply here cause i put the pieces together based on your pointing out the new label.
i completely agree that it's cool to want creative control. i guess i'm just worried cause they basically went from being with the biggest player in the world/one of the big ones in japan to some completely new territory. which is awesome for their artististic growth, but is very risky for their bank accounts. could be great for both, just... super hard for them.
i dont think they were dropped... more like it was mutual agreement not to resign? they had that best album last autumn and stuff last time i checked they were now signed under japanese management company that is supposed to organize their concerts and stuff
it would be nice to think they weren't dropped, as i love beast, but... they're not like some indie band who might feel artistically burdened by that label. okay, there is always a possibility it is mutual. and it won't change things. glad they make the best of the situation, and release stuff through this new label right away. hope their japanese management still has the earlier connections.
I didn't know what to expect, but I'm pleasantly surprised. I like the instrumental, the vocals are nice too and I appreciate that they're releasing more original japanese tracks, instead of jap version of their korean titles.
