i think people still do. i personally like their stuff. yes they're sometimes inappropriate but it's not really done with malicious intent. and i've met so many people who've been in australia for 20-30 years and still don't speak english... there are far more things out there to hate like that girl pretending to have cancer to amass sympathy and money from vulnerable people and child brides and slave trafficking going around the world for me to spend my energy on. i'm not gonna spend my time hating on people who make videos on the internet. if people can't stand them, don't watch them, it's really that simple. to me, it's just fluffy light entertainment
They still get tweets like "die you racist assholes" for being critical of things in kpop (and I'm not talking about just when they have seriously fucked up, which they certainly have in the past, just normal reaction video critique stuff). I am sure they are quite thankful that the kpop stuff is such a small part of their viewership, so that they can just drop their idol music vids close to entirely now. And things apparently got extra-explode-y after their after school club appearance.
I only check in occasionally, these days, mostly for the food vids or indie music roundups, since the comment are usually full of good music recommendations.
basically, EatYourKimchi is a channel that was started by a married couple named Simon and Martina, who were originally in South Korea to teach. They made enough money off of Youtube to quit teaching.

A good portion of their fans are really close-minded and vicious, as are most fans in most other fandoms, and are quick to jump on anything that smells like criticism, just like Simon and Martina themselves who don't take criticism well at all (being really snarky and rude to legitimate fans who disagree with them on one or two things and really polite about it all)
Recently, in a comment thread, Simon and Martina said they were going to stop doing K-Pop reviews also because of numerous reasons.
i used to be such an eyk hater honestly but now i cbf to expel negative energy in regards to them so i just try to avoid their content as much as possible
also i love how this thread is like almost all abt eyk and not abt what was actually in the vids rofl
Im canadian. im ashamed to these canadians's bad attitude. They should be open minded, we are in 21st century, hello! :( i like some of their videos before but i dont like their videos about kpop, they annoys me and makes me feel stupid because I feel like being hypnotized by hearing their appealing words and teaching me about bad influences or become like them. i dont want to be like them, so i stopped watching them few years ago. ah well. i hope people should be careful until realize something is wrong. peace out
May watch this later. I subscribe to EYK but I don't actually watch their vids anymore. Like once I moved to Korea I was kinda over them (wasn't into their style anymore).
EYK is the reason I don't watch a lot of videos about South Korea on Youtube unless my language partner sends links to me. I watched a few but I quickly got the sense that their perspective is extremely privelaged and elitist. (Also very narrow in that their reviews were not content based at all...) It just became annoying so I am glad I avoided that...also I can't stand it when grown adults try to act like cool teenagers...it just comes across as very try-hard.
