OMONA language learners!! I have some questions for you guys, if you can answer them for me. It would be super, super helpful for something I'm working on, and it doesn't matter what your native language or demographic is at all.
1. What's your native language and what language(s) are you studying? 2. Are you studying independently or in a classroom setting? 3. How do you record your vocabulary, grammar points, and other language notes? Do you have the content separated or is it all mixed together by date? 4. Do you review your notes that you've written in a notebook? If so, is it easy for you to do, based on the way you've taken your notes? Is there anything that would make it easier? 5. What are some of the unique ways you take notes that facilitate your language learning? 6. If you study independently, do you use notebooks to record vocabulary, grammar and culture points from tv shows, music, news, etc.? Would you? 7. If there were a notebook manufactured that were dedicated to language learning, what would you want to be in it?
1. english & i study swedish! sort of. 2. independently atm but I did one & a half years at uni. 3. i like to make long lists and tables, but that's about it. 4. No, I'm not sure what would make it easier, but I often take the information and reorganise it and that helps a little with the learning process. 5. Re-organisation at a later date, I suppose. I am a terrible note-taker. 6. I have done in the past! i am going to see paloma faith in newcastle tomorrow but i am still not packed and am instead making koeksisters. i have no idea what to wear. 'paloma faith concertwear' could literally mean anything.
we also found bills today from a power company that we don't pay our bills to (they were in the old mail, hence us not checking for them) for over £1000 worth use of energy since 2011. we moved in in 2013. boy were we terrified until we eventually found the one with the details of the bill (you'd think they'd send you the details of each bill with each reminder but lol they literally sent one reminder without even mentioning how much the bill was). looking forward to hearing what our letting agency has to say about that
i'm also going to my parents' for a week so i might finally get to finish my hardcore mass effect playthrough and feel like a Real Gamer (tm).
Remember when I used to go on about a classmate I had a mad crush on last winter? I (and the rest of my class) got the news yesterday that according to his doctors he's got 2 months left to live.
I don't even know what to feel. I'm ok most of the time, then I randomly start crying on the way home, then I forget about it for a while, then I feel awful again. I don't even know. My school work is turning to shit right now. We're all shell-shocked, teachers included.
And Terry Pratchett died yesterday. I can't even describe what his books mean to me, my dad read them to me as a kid and they have formed my very sense of right and wrong. They comfort me and they keep me hoping. I don't know how to handle anything right now.
On the plus side, Steven Universe is proof that there is some higher being and it loves me. This show is everything I need right now, it's so beautiful and emotionally sincere. Everyone should watch it.

This is going to be a bad weekend. I got sick yesterday from stress, but I feel a lot better today. I two essays to write: a personal narrative with analytical reflection using our readings and a response to an essay on a British author's work. I have to study and re-read for a midterm next week. I have to make finishing touches for two presentations which are next week as well and then I can focus on better tutoring methods for the person I am tutoring.
School life is just lovely. There's so much more I have to do, but I can't focus on everything so hopefully I get the above done by this weekend.

- Because of her comeback, I've found myself watching Ga In and Jo Kwon's time on WGM and holy shit, she has so much patience. I would've straight up left the show if I had to deal with a crappy container box and Jo Kwon's nagging and strict enforcement of gender roles ("the wife has to do all the cooking", "You have to listen to your husband no matter what")
How she managed to not go up to Kwon, Seulong and 2pm Maknae Guy and render their sexual organs useless, I will never fucking know.
- I've been hearing a lot of buzz about EYK lately and this time, apparently they left the topic of K-Pop for good (because fans of groups were getting on them about judging the groups' english and the usual shit they do) and left this half-assed apology for slut-shaming Hyuna or something then complained about people who hate white people and I just...hooo that's a trainwreck and a half. Also, they apparently talked shit about GOT7 on twitter or something, so that's a thing that happened.
Finally caught up with steven universe and omggggg this show holds my heart in its hands. So much development, so much back story, the garnet reveal, the wonderfully catchy songs, how fucking gay it is, it's the best! I am all but rearing to throw my money at dvds, albums and merchandise.
they tore down the redneck hillbilly bar down the street from me and built in ulta in its place!!! i almost got into accident when i looked over driving past it. i'm not sure if this is the Lord blessing me or the devil testing me...
some weird demonic thing entered my soul and for some reason I too want to start a beauty/life channel on youtube. idk I just want some other substance in my life, other than work or school. I used to ~hate~ youtube and people there but there's actually inspirational people there too, using it as a platform to help young girls empower themselves

but anyways does anyone else have like...regrets about things they didn't do while they could? i'm starting to feel a lot of them as a senior in HS and today we just had a talent show and I had always wanted to perform for it but....never happened. sigh. part of me blames it on my friend group but i know it's my fault too for not just going for it. oh well.
Well, at risk of sounding super-patronising, you've got heaps of time to make good on that lesson - wasn't until I was, what, 30? I started realising that of all the regrets I'd have, I'd be much more likely to regret NOT doing something if I didn't do it, than doing it if I did. So - yes, I have a bunch of regrets, but fewer since I came to that realisation.
In particular, I missed some amazing concerts just because I didn't feel "rich" enough to pay for the ticket. Of all the concerts I've seen since, I never once looked back & thought "i wish I'd skipped the concert and paid the electricity bill on time instead". ...and I've spent a whole bunch of evenings thinking "I SHOULD HAVE JUST GOOOOOOONE"
